Shouldn't there be a digital manual with PS4 games and why can't I find it?
i've often wondered this myself. I've asked in the PSN thread and people claim it should be under the game info section when you select a game... but its not. Ive only seen it on like two or three games. I hated when manuals disapeared from games but at least it seemed we were getting digital manuals for stuff like 3ds and vita... but its looking like you just dont get dick for PS4 games anymore. Friggin annoying

Wow. I've never even played FF VII, but converting a traditional game into an episodic series is going to be a train wreck. I guess anyone who wants this should just purchase the port that is out now.

Seems like there's awful few details to declare how valid of a creative decision this is at this point- especially for someone who never played the game before. I agree that it very well may be a bad decision, but it could also be a brilliant way to present the game and a good way to release the game (or start releasing it) sooner than 100 years from now like Square is known for doing.

I'm just irritated because there's some stuff in SAO that is not explained at all and I can't seem to find anything online to clarify it either.

So any thoughts on the FFVII remake being episodic, sorry "multi-part" now?
I think with any remake there's always a really good chance they'll do something that may seem super questionable. It gives more reason to be hyped for the straight up port version since at least you know what you are getting and what changes were made already. I can see why people would want to play the original or the updated port ... as it's more the classic experience.

That said, the remake looks dang good. The original game was pretty for a sprite based game with some fmv pre-rendered stuff thrown in... but this looks like the world will be much more alive. I can see how people will be hyped for both versions. Heck after watching footage of the remake I'm even pretty hyped for it and the only console games I've been hyped for so far are Shenmue 3 and Yakzua Zero.

As for it being multipart... I can deal with that if each part is big enough. If it's just short episodes and there are long waits then I can just wait for the complete version to come out before buying it. There's no reason to really get up in arms about it yet since it's not out and more info is needed. It looks like they are putting a ton of love into it though. I mean, more than I ever expected for certain.

I don't think it's meant to be interpreted as episodic. It just takes Square too long to make console RPGs nowadays so I think they're splitting the retail products to get it out in a timely fashion. I would think of it more akin to Xenosaga.

Oh, I acknowledge that I could be totally wrong, after all, I haven't even played it. It just seems like a dubious beginning, but maybe it will be OK. The other thing that struck me watching the trailer is that I'm not sure that better/more realistic graphics is going to be good for that ridiculous sword. I mean, when it's old-school animation you can sort of pass it off as stylized, but pairing that thing with modern graphics just makes me say "WTF, are the designers trying to compensate for something or what??"

It's been weird like that ever since they made the animated movie. The characters look very far removed from how they looked in battle sequences. I don't think Cloud's sword would be so absurd if he wasn't walking around with it on his back, but I guess with no transition between the world and battles, they had to do this.

I'm thinking/hoping that 'episodic' is not an accurate translation of what 'multi-part' means. Rather, I'm hoping it just means they're planning on something like:

FF7R I

FF7R II

FF7R III

in much the way FFXIII was 'multi-part' by the time they were done with it with FFXIII, FFXIII-2, and Lightning Returns. Each game was a full game, but they create a mini-franchise around each number/world. Perhaps they just mean they're creating -more- of the FF7R world.

That is, maybe they just think FF7 is 'big enough' to revisit and franchise out [which it is, probably].

Or maybe they're stupid enough to do it Telltale style, wtf do i know.

Whatever it turns out to be (episodic  Telltale style, multi-full-game series  FF-X/X2, or something new)... I like what they have shown so far.  It still has some of that FF7 feel to it despite the massive transition to such a modern style of gaming.  I think Cloud's sword helps give it that feeling.

I never played any final fantasy before. How many episodes this game is going to have? And When is the full game going to be released?
Thank you

Has the Far Cry 4 season pass ever been on sale?
Yes, I believe I got it for around $11 (maybe less) a couple of months ago when there was a season pass sale for several different games. They had some great deals so I got that and Dying Light which has turned out to be an even better deal (due to the price increase). Of course, I have not started the main games yet, so, "deal" is a relative term.

Wow How did I miss this?!?!? Lol but thanks for the reply.

How is turning one game in to three parts different from being episodic?
The only reason we look at this like episodic at all is because it used to be one title. It's probably going to be closer to a three part series where each game is large in its own right. They did say they were adding a considerable amount of content to the total package. So essentially, it's FF VII, FF VII-2, and FF VII-3.

The older I get, the more interested I am in being able to finish a game in a reasonable amount of time. I love the whole idea of being blown away by a gigantic world filled with stuff to do, but at some point, I want to move on. I still like longer games, but I don't mind stuff being broken down into more digestible chunks if it makes sense. I'm not saying that's what this will be because no one knows. I just don't mind the idea of it if it's done well and commensurately priced. I realize that's a big "if."

No, it's not. Taking a single narrative that was a single game and splitting it into three games isn't the same as making three games. -2 -3 have all been entirely different games and narratives that changed the base mechanics in significant ways.

I don't even care if they want to split it up for whatever reason, be it focusing on one section at a time or to make funding work or just to gouge everyone or whatever. Everyone needs to stop slurping Squenix while playing with their raging hard on for FF7 and dressed like Aerith though.

I was thinking something more like Xenosaga or Mass Effect. I think the major reason for them to do this is so it actually comes out this generation. Square has gotten notoriously slow at developing console RPGs, and one guy seems to head up every single one of them which probably doesn't help.

If they are going to split FF7 into multiple parts, they are going to charge $60 total for all parts right guys? guys? right guys? am I right? guys? anyone? Bueller?

They figured everyone wanted to go retro so they're doing three discs just like the good old days.

I remember back on PSX, a game being multi-disc was a badge of honor.

Square Enix already split up the story to FFVII that way with Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and the two movies.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/12/07/first-details-on-new-hot-shots-golf-coming-to-ps4/

Some new details on Hot Shots Golf for PS4. Instead of having a roster of characters, you make your own that you build up as you play it more. There is no loading up the next tee since the whole course is an open world, so you can walk or drive to the next tee or just explore what else is on the course. I always liked zooming the camera around in previous games to find easter eggs, so it's cool that that will be more of a thing here.

Didn't even realize that.

But if we consider when FFVII was made, it was much, much easier to render each area. Modern graphics require not only far more detail with any given texture/area, but fully realized 3d buildings, etc. So i can see the venture being a ton more work than the original. So if they do divide it into acts and then flesh out each one, it might make a lot of sense.

I wouldn't mind that way. Crisis Core is part of the FF7 story and is excellent but works better if you play it after FF7.

Don't see what the big deal is. FF7 originally was split up on disk when it came out.
That would be hilarious. Instead of INSERT DISC 2 TO CONTINUE, it would say, INSERT $14.99 TO CONTINUE.

I would love it is God Hand comes to PS4 with trophy support and is released as a January ps plus title. 100 ft robot golf is another title I would love as a ps plus title.

Holiday Sale incoming for tomorrow with the early launch of the banner:

This should be a three or four week event.

Nice, I was waiting until tomorrow to see if there was some good stuff to add to my 20% order. Looks like it might be. Have a cart full of :ps2: :ps4: games right now.

Hoping Alien: Isolation sees a discount during this sale. Would love 50% on the bundle, but I'd probably bite at 25% off as well...

I've never played Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy and I've always wanted to play them. Honestly, I'm never going to turn on a :ps2: to play them, shit I don't even have a :ps2: anymore, traded it to GS when they started taking them again. I'll probably hold off on Vice City and SA depending on what's on sale tomorrow though.

They're only $12 each and I bought $60 PSN from Walmart today with gift cards ;)

Is Mark of Kri good though? I don't have that in my cart right now but don't know much about it.

It was pretty decent for its time. I'm not sure how well it would hold up nowadays. You may want to let reviews trickle in first.

Mark of Kri is a great game, been years since I played it. But it had an interesting combat system where you would highlight enemies by rotating the right stick. Depending on what face button was mapped was what you used to start the attack on an enemy. And it had a nice art style that was sketched by former Disney artist.

That sucks. I can almost give a pass for some action and sports games and crud like that not having manuals, but it really friggin irks me when RPG's cant even be bothered. Fumbling with stats and mechinisms without any info is not fun in any frigin way shape or form IMO. I was going to say post in the vita forum since i think all vita games have a manual on he cart, but looks like frisky posted a link.. that still wasn't very helpful =P
