Ugh, I hope they are at a discount
I own War of Monsters AND Twisted Metal Black....

I was hoping they'd just transfer over.

Any discussion about playing off disc?

I don't see any info about rebuying either.
There's no Cross Buy or DVD emulation. They're separate releases on PSN.

Do NOT get excited about Zodiac coming to PS4 / Vita unless the dev gets it's act together. Some great pedigree with various people from previous FF games, but the iOS version has been a complete mess.

The PS2 Classics are emulation right, or are they more akin to ports?
(I thought the Former due to the buttons still reading like they were on the PS2)

Very impressed with Adult Swim Games. Death's Gambit is off the chain cagbros!

They're enhanced emulation with trophies, HD resolution upgrade, and support of PS4 features like screenshots, streaming, remoteplay, and such.

Ugh, 3D art style for KOFXIV?! The last domino falls. Please just stab me in the heart SNK. Oh and fuck anyone else who thinks I'm being dramatic. I'm sick and tired of having 3D shoved down my throat in every genre.

I'm coming out of the closet....

and saying I LIKE sprites!!!! I don't hate polygons but I love seeing sprites in HD glory. Please SNK just offer a KS for a sprite based KOFXIV, I'm begging you!!!!!!!! You were the last big holdout. SF3 remastered would look gorgeous. Sprites are beautiful.\

p.s. EnixSquare, fuck you for completely dumping turn-based for FFVII. That will make this easily a no-buy unless it's dirt cheap, even then I may buy it used out of spite. What a week for the old school, talk about a nail in the coffin.
The problem is, the Polygons look horrible.
The models look plastic and fake, and closer to a high grade PS2... and even then they don't have the quality of say Tekken.

I love Sprites but the 3D work of 2.5d games like Street Fighter 4 and more recently Guilty Gear XRD Appeals to me.

While KoF XIV and SF5 do not.. the former looks just out dated and slow, the later looks like bad claymation.

Ni No Kuni 2 was a very nice surprise at PSX. Now just hoping that link Frisky has posted will mean more free games this year...

Kinda bummed FFVII isn't cross buy or Free if you downloaded it before. Besides trophies, did they do anything else to the PS4 version?

I'm with you. This idea that because you bought a game on one platform that you are then either entitled to it for free or for a discount on every future platform is ridiculous.
Well, see, that's where we disagree. I bought Dark Cloud used off Ebay a couple years ago for about $5. It was disc only, and I printed out my own sleeve from files on the internet and got a spare case from when Hollywood Video went out of business.

I've played it for about an hour -- I liked what I played, but at the time just didn't have the time to devote to it.

So, clearly, I'm a huge fan. And Sony -owes- it to me to develope and release PS2 emulation on PS4. It must be both physical and digitally crossbuy, with all the modern bells and whistles [resolution bump, trophies, remote play, etc]. And it should be free, because I ALREADY fuckING PAID FOR IT.

And if not, Sony are greedy, arrogant bastards. Feed my fucking backlog, Sony, and stop pissing all over us.

And let's not get started about what I want on my PS6.

Link? I'm not seeing anything about that on the web store.
It's on their PS4 Store Front.. 1 second

The same Virtual Console that gives you a big discount on Wii U versions with upgraded features if you bought it on the Wii?
That's noble of Nintendo but the price of games like Super Mario World, etc. are rather pricey for being the same game that came out 20 years ago.

We both know the difference between a copy of a rare, vintage, physical game should be more expensive than a digital copy of an emmulation.

Yeah, besides random garage sales, the Virtual Console prices are on par with what you'd pay at the least from most retro sites/stores. They're very fair prices for games that are mostly in demand.
My point being, the price point of the new PS2 classics with some mild uprendering and trophy support is very fair, whereas Virtual Console prices of emmulated games that have never been altered or repurposed are somewhat gougy, however slightly. Super Mario Bros should be .49 at most.

I didn't say the PS2 Classics on PS4 weren't a fair price. The Wii U Virtual Console games have customizable controls, save states, and Off-TV Play added to them, which are very useful features to have.

The Bit.Trip compilation is tempting, but already have Runner and Beat and it's one of those things is almost guaranteed to go on sale.

But don't think I can wait for a sale on Nuclear Throne. Just looks too good...

The GTA games are available on the store. I'm only going to get one for now, but I don't know which. I'd like to play them in order of release, but Vice City looks the most tempting.

I really couldn't get into GTAIII after playing Vice City and San Andreas. The controls just felt off to me. This was ages ago though, so not sure if I'd feel the same way now.

If you are going to get them all, I would start by working backwards and beginning with San Andreas. It has a large world and alot more features than the other games. Vice City has that 80s charm, but it's still a bit archaic (and I wouldn't be surprised if alot of that great licensed music didn't make it to this version). GTA III is pretty much completely avoidable. Whatever the case, I should warn you that you're going to find them all very frustrating in comparison to modern sandbox games... adjust your expectations accordingly.

This is completely irrelevant, but the PSN card I just picked up today for Rogue Galaxy has the sequence "FAP" in it.

JXdOzPq.jpg

That is all.

Well, I was going to boycott FF7 because the battle engine was more action based.

10.87 is mighty tempting though. So I guess I'll own it on PS1 disc, digital for PSP and now digital for PS4.]

Or you know, I could just download the digital one on my Vita and save 11 dollars.]

I need reviews!

See but my problem is being assaulted on all fronts in terms of wanting just any high-end HD sprite work and being told fuck you basically.

I LOVED how KOFXIII looked. You clearly knew it was spritework in HD and done well.

It's not just games either. With the exception of the French people and a few Irish animators/directors, no one in the West seems to give a rats ass about hand drawn animation. Even Miyazaki just gave up on the idea that it would continue, coming off as resigned to the Pixar virus taking over.

There's just this general pare down model to some industries and an arguable loss in quality to some. For games, just because it's cheaper to do in 3D for high end doesn't mean it's the right artistic choice. The same goes for animation to COMPUTER animation which to me seems to take some of the beauty out of it. Lastly, sometimes the more labor intensive choice at first may actually cost less. Compare using good puppetry and practical effects in general with a production using CGI primarily. The cost for the practical effects may appear higher at first but when you start airing the film with CGI in HD it starts to look fake(having shine) and costs you substantially more than the former.

Jiryn why are you accepting this as a foregone conclusion? We've seen too many games we like in 2D...Suikoden, Castlevania, to name a few, pushing 3D at us until they hit the wall due to some fickle people who think 3D is prettier.

edit: Regarding FF7 I wouldn't have a problem with it being action based if those of us who are purists would be given a choice for turn based but that won't happen. EnixSquare are the same assholes who never translated the original 2D FF3 for us to play, instead giving us a 3D version of it and a fugly one on top of that.

I love 2D Animation, hell my Bachelors IS in Animation...

(My Masters is is computer science, Network Administration)

I have a friend who refuses to play 2D games, and feels there is no excuse for 2D games to even exist anymore because we should be able to fully realize games in 3D. He also feels 2D was just a limitation of the time and should be forgotten.

Your friend disgusts me.  How anyone can look at so many 2D games that look gorgeous, even if many are SD and call them a limitation is telling of his stupidity.

Let me guess, he also doesn't like hand drawn animation as well?  I love "The Wind Rises" but "Princess Kaguya" as well made my jaw drop so hard as well.  Different art style but still amazing.  I saw "Princess and the Frog" in theaters and bought it, loved it as it felt like the first American Disney fairy tale(even has a quick shot of a newspaper referencing Woodrow Wilson getting into office).

Jeez the newer generation(I'm on the tail end of the Millennial Generation and consider myself more a Generation X'er) and some of the older ones have no patience for the process and quality, it's produce, produce, produce and it shows in the product styling.  Using digital instead of film even though you can get much higher quality color shooting on 35 mm. if you can afford it(until I hear RED has reached color bit parity with film I don't want to hear a RED Camera is good enough).  Yes it takes longer to work with but the end product is better and it's cheaper to store.  The head of HBO Films mentioned this when asked why they still shoot on 16 mm.  The same goes for hand drawn vs. CGI, I'm sure it's cheaper and quicker.

I see this same crap with some popular music artists where the shit is phoned in, call it autotuned to death or whatever you wish.

Sometimes quality takes time and you need to breathe the fuck out and let those muscles relax despite what society tells you.

I wish you could make your friend watch some "Galaxy Express 999" the series and maybe he'd get the idea that rushing blindly forward sometimes isn't the best idea.

Japan is one of the few companies I cut a bit of slack for with CGI animation because they're trying for full realism and to literally compete with Hollywood.  Japan doesn't have the luxury of affordable real estate to make into a giant studio lot and shoot there as well as on location with a big budget.
