This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Is it just me or has Gamersgate had nothing on sale for the past week?  Usually there's some token shitty sale going on.

And, speaking of, this is old news but I didn't see it mentioned in the thread: Paradox apparently pulled all their titles from Gamersgate over the summer.  At first I was going to suggest that this said something about Gamersgate but I guess it says even more that it took me seven months to notice.

There sorta kinda sorta is some scheisse on sale if you remove all filters and sort by highest discount. But it's utter shit. Like Circus World and Huntin' games and crap like that, which explains their not promoting it. I did notice that though and like you thought it was odd for them.

I also noticed the Paradox yank not long ago myself and thought that was odd as well.

Perhaps they are going the way of Shiny Loot. Maybe one day out of the blue we'll get an email from Ashot how he thought if he left the site alone for a year and came back to it that things would miraculously get better, but it surprisingly did not work out that way.

I won't really cry a tear for them, although they do have one of the biggest digital catalogs and have some oddball crap that neither Steam nor GOG has but nobody really wants anyway.

I suppose I'd better go download my copy of Big Mutha Truckers 2: Truck Me Harder just in case.

Well, I didn't get in on the glitch. I had to buy one from Spoder for $8 and when I asked for the bro discount his exact words were :

"Bitch, this ain't no charity."
Did he really Bobby you like that or are you just exaggerating for comedic value?

If the former, that's cold. I guess he got his Bobby lessons from the best!

Since when have you known Spoder to have a heart? (Okay, so he may have thrown in a little something extra for me and to be honest with all the free stuff Spoder has notified me of throughout the years I had no problem being boobied this time, even if it was only like a partial, just the tip of the pizza slice booby).

Cougar

An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man. The cougar can be anyone from an overly surgically altered wind tunnel victim, to an absolute sad and bloated old horn-meister, to a real hottie or milf. Cougars are gaining in popularity -- particularly the true hotties -- as young men find not only a sexual high, but many times a chick with her shit together.
So you get the keyboard along with your cookie and juice box afterwards?

And speaking of Newegg, did any of you Dirt Rally glitch getters ever get an email from Newegg with your 5 good codes in it?
Think they decided it was more fun just to troll all of us.

MH is Monster Hunter and it really has little in common with Dragon's Dogma except that they're both Capcom games where you fight big monsters sometimes.

Plus even if it was a MH clone, the only one of those on PC is Toukiden Kiwami and we all know how that one turned out, so it'd still be a welcome development.

Indeed, good old Toukiden Kiwami, how it turned out, indeed.

Well I guess it's not MH...you do fight a lot of random mobs and stuff and bosses here and there with your pawns. It's alright and the movement almost feels like a Dark Souls type game. I guess I just didn't find it that awesome, though it was relatively fun. Course I'm not much of a MH fan either, though I did like Toukiden till I had to face the same bosses a million times.

I'm likely just not much for any of those type of hunting games, though I try to play them. I do hope this is a very clean port though. I'm sure the graphics will be way better at least.

I do have to say though the way it showed magic in the game was epic....you really felt powerful. I wonder why Capcom hasn't put out a sequel yet even though it sold above expectations at the time. Nope just a lot of MH these days...

From what I recall when DD came out on console it was getting meh reviews and people were basically like, it's okay but I can't wait until the next Dark Souls game comes out.

I saw some PC footage on YouTube when I was looking at let's play. I'm on my phone so no link to them but I don't think it should be hard to find.
Looks pretty good from this video. Nothing earth shattering, but about what I expected from a PS3 port. The constant 60fps is nice.

All in all, I could have wasted $20 on a lot of much stupider crap, like 3 GMG poo bags.

They released a Dragon's Dogma Online (meh) for Japan only last year, then the team went and worked on the PC port. They claim Capcom is keeping an eye on the PC port and if it sells well they will help chances for a sequel.

There's a recent PC Gamer interview here: http://www.pcgamer.com/dragons-dogma-devs-on-bringing-the-2012-rpg-to-pc/

Minae Matsukawa (Producer) said:
Thanks for your interest in the series! The Dragon’s Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel. We’d love to hear the opinions and feedback from players of the upcoming PC port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series.
Who knows though if that's actually for real for real or just the usual obtuse Japanese way of saying maybe when they really mean no.

Lol, that's definitely Capcom-speak for "no". I can't count how many times they've claimed they were "gauging interest" only for nothing to come of it.

You're not wrong, but on the other hand it's not a very reviewer-friendly game either. There isn't much story, the combat is fairly challenging, fast travel is extremely limited...oh, and the resolution and framerate were also kind of shit. It's not surprising at all that reviewers didn't like it. Even I didn't like it when I first tried the demo for the original release on 360. It's the kind of game you have to spend some serious time with to get into, and even then it's pretty janky like most Capcom games tend to be (IMO, of course.)

I am surprised it's getting this much attention though. I just dumped my PS3 copy on ebay to help pay for a preorder, but I'm surprised to see it's the top seller on Steam and generating a lot of discussion on CAG.

And as for Toukiden Kiwami, basically all you need to know is, it's a clone of the aforementioned Monster Hunter and got a typically crappy Japanese PC port.

RIP Daily and Flash Steam Sales https://steamdb.info/forum/790/
I think we all saw this coming. Most consumers of anything mass market are not generally very savvy about their spending and getting the best deal or simply do not care. So throwing more discounts of lower percentage at them is likely to net more sales at a higher price. Steam sales haven't been good in a very long time though and they're going the way Amazon did once they became the market setting force.

It's like I'm in Bizarroland.  Ignoring what I actually bought (nothing), the Discovery Queue showed me garbage unrelated to my interests about 75% of the time and games I already knew about the other 25%.  I can't even formulate a real response because my experience and Valve's experience are just two different realities.

I'd guess that at least 30% of the games I was shown in my discovery queue were free to play.  I added a handful of games to my wishlist from the 300 or so games I had to go through to get my cards.  Most of those were newer games I had not heard of or had forgotten about.

I have to admit part of me likes not having the daily deals and flash sales because I don't spend as much time looking at the steam storefront.  I would like them to bring back some sort of clickr game!

For those console-gamers who played Dragon's Dogma original and the DD: Dark Arisen Edition, how much better w/ the newer edition over the old one?

But that's the thing. We're all like 'Oh this sale was terrible. I didn't buy anything. It was a huge failure, etc etc. They are bound to change it' but their data is telling them the exact opposite.

I've been saying all along that we're in a microcosm here so our experience and idea of success and failure is not at all that of the masses.

I will say that even before the floodgates opened Valve was pretty terrible at getting people to pages of anything except the few super popular AAA games and while I'm rather surprised a fair amount of people actually wishlisted and bought based on the discovery queues, for those games that aren't Call of the Battlefield part 136 with sexy Martian Amazon Zombies then at least they are getting looked at.

I mean even when the sales were good the bulk of the games on the store just didn't have eyes on them during the big sale.

We'll always have Ubisoft

whether we want them or not
As long as they keep putting out good-to-great games - i.e. AC series games; more Watch Dogs; more Far Cry games; etc - then so be it. I'll tolerate UPLAY some more for those.

Well, that post of mine is more like Dark Arisen consoles (edition 2) vs. Dark Arisen PC (edition 3).

I'm mainly asking how much improved original DD (edition 1) vs. the console re-release Dark Arisen edition.

Mine was a bit better, still too much stuff I didn't like (and even made clear through the methods provided by Steam) but did find a few titles I hadn't heard of and ended up adding to my wishlist or following. The idea, tying cards to the discovery queue, was a good idea though imo. Just they need to work on refining the queue a bit so most of what you see isn't because:

It's Popular

It's on Sale (especially useful when over half the store is on sale)

A tag blacklist or something would go a long way, got annoying seeing a bunch of F2P MMOs as well Survival games despite how many times I said I had no interest in any of them.

Oh and on the discovery queue, the problem for us is if you buy every trash under the sun it's going to go 'Oh hey you like trash, here's some more trash for you!'. It kind of relies on you buying and wishlisting things you like and when we do things like, oh I don't know, buying 20 copies of Monster Challenge Circus, it kind of breaks the discovery queue. ;)

Just want to be the first (it doesn't count unless you quote the post!) to say thanks. Didn't take anything though.
