Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread

Why is that? I'm actually impressed they didn't try to stagger the releases and get people to buy both.

I have a problem, y'all. I'm trying to finish OoT:3D, much like I've been trying to finish OoT since it released, and let's just say it's not my favorite thing to spend time on. I'm in Jabu-Jabu's Belly. I hate it. I hate the controls, I hate the camera, I hate the combat because of the controls and camera. Are there tips for enjoying this game in 2015, or do I just need to move on with my life?
Spent 13 years starting and restarting OoT. I did finish it on the 3ds, but before that I always stopped around the water temple. If you feel that way while inside jabu jabu, then I say give it up. If you ever get around to finishing the dungeon you are on, you have 6 more to go (I think it is 6). Then the final dungeon that has multiple parts to it. Not to mention finding the heart pieces and the upgraded sword. You haven't even gotten halfway through the game. Maybe a quarter of the way through.

I actually made it to the water temple way back in my dorm days, but I was playing on an emulator with an underpowered PC. It was unplayable. Thanks for the response.

I'm feel the same way...extremely disappointed. I was ready to be a day 1 buyer of the N3DS but have no desire to run out and purchase the N3DS XL.

Basically the screen...visuals on the XLs are much more pixelated in my opinion. I also thought the interchangable faceplates would be fun but that's not a deal breaker for me. I'm just going to be patient and see what comes...maybe this is a move to clear older skus at retail (doubt it). If not, I can be patient enough until either the next gen handheld is announced or more must have N3DS games are released (I already have Xeno Chornicles on Wii).

I would only get this day 1 if there is a retailer sale, I also have gift cards and credit to work with so I have to take that into consideration as well.

How do you people expect Amazon to get the MH bundle when it's a Gamestop exclusive?  Doesn't that seem like a foolhardy endeavor?

ANNNNNDDDD... I waited to take a flight home and the MH 3DS is now sold out at Gamestop... FML... Does Nintendo hate people throwing money at them or something?

late to the nex 3ds party. How come the new 3dsxl doesnt have faceplates? Damn! That sucks. I was hoping to pick an xl down the line to retire my pikachu xl. Hehe! Hope nintendo does revamp the xl version to have those faceplates. And considering us doesnt get the regular 3ds makes me dissapointed even more

My one complaint about the New 3DS XL. While the MH one does look very nice which I have ordered, I would of still loved the ability to put faceplates on it.

Only 24 or so more days. My excitement is building to have an XL to finally go through my backlog. I have the original 3DS but that small screen was kinda annoying at times for me.

The new 3ds also seems to have the smaller d pad like the original 3ds... It also does not come with a charger

Amazon doesn't sell Nintendo consoles directly, you have to buy from a 3rd party..I assume this one will be the same

I'm hoping that after the release date comes and passes, I can find an import EU New 3DS on Amazon. I already have a JP 3DS, and don't want another. I just want a New 3DS to go with the N3DSXL I'll pick up when I can.

EU units are hard to find on Amazon. JP ones are easy.

Either the system just came out or they are coming out very soon in the EU. I remember seeing the ambassador ones just come in like 1-2 weeks ago and they were pre sale from Nintendo before they hit the stores so give it a few weeks.

Even the original 3DS/XL.. there are no or hardly any EU models, just JP and NA. I'm hoping that changes since I'm not fond of Play-Asia (and get my Amazon credit through various online sites for free).

The XL is personally too big for me. Then again, I found the OG 3DS to be a great size.
Agreed. So many posts around the internet are basically saying "So what they're just faceplates?" and "If the XL had faceplates you'd buy that one." when folks seem to misunderstand that the faceplates mean little-to-nothing to me...it's the overall smaller size of the hardware I want more than anything.

New puzzle (Smash Bros) and Special Mii (Reggie).

Also, I want the Nintendo Anime app. ;_;
I streetpassed with someone yesterday (National Streetpass Weekend), and some far away person already had all special pieces for Super Smash Bros! I guess that person was running around to all hotspots in their city...or homepassing like crazy.

Must be nice... no one around me Street Passes... I go to malls.. MAYBE 1.. generally it's my 3 3DS' streetpassing each other.  Real shame.  I'd have loved to get more done before I move.  My real sweet spot was Otakon.  Everyone there brought theirs.  But then I was literally on it trying to clear faster than it'd collect people and missing the entire event I paid money to attend.

I go to a shopping center near me most weekends. I like to have breakfast at Starbucks, then I walk to McDonalds for Streetpasses, walk through the store and out the back door, then I walk to Home Depot, walk around the store usually filling up my Streetpass allotment, open the system to have to start processing the first 10, then usually gather another handful before I leave Home Depot and walk back to Starbucks. I call it getting exercise. :D

That puzzle was available in Japan for a while. They probably did a lot of Homepass.

Sorry to derail, but I thought it would get more attention here. Anyone have experience replacing a 3DS XL Circle Pad?Mine just broke off :(, I made a thread to take the conversation there

OK, I have 2 regular 3DS systems. Both have NNIDs attached. System A is my main gaming system while System B is my secondary unit with my Ambassador games. Can I transfer my info from System A to System B and redownload the Ambassador games, or would the licenses get erased when System B's NNID is erased?

Dunno where to ask, but if I system transfer from a 2ds to a 3ds will an animal crossing save file be lost on the 2ds device? I want to transfer pokemon to my new 3ds but don't want to mess up my fiancé's save files.

the system you are transferring to is reformatted and wiped completely clean, and once the transfer is finished the original system (in this case the 2DS) is restored to factory settings. every single setting and save file will be copied to the new system without question.

There's a new Spotpass Mii being sent out for E3 - Regginator.

I wonder if they'll do one for each day like the year before last. Hopefully, some new puzzles too.

Question. Transferring from OG 3DS to New 3DS. Do you HAVE to have a brand new SD card in the New 3DS? Or can you take the old one (which is MicroSD) and put it in the New 3DS?

When you do the system transfer, there are three options:

1. transfer everything through wireless (requires a micro sd large enough to store everything that was on previous 3DS)

2. transfer essential data only through wireless (not sure what is deleted. I know games must be redownloaded. I'm assuming the games that combine game and save data will have data lost. idk, tbh)

3. use pc to copy data to micro sd

If you choose the third option, assuming you already have a micro sd in your old 3DS, you can just pop the micro sd out of your old 3DS and into your N3DS after the transfer process. The transfer process is relatively simple and the directions given are pretty clear.

Not sure how many people even look at this thread, but it seems like the best place to talk about my dilemma.

My basic issue arises from the fact that I just sold my 3DS XL on Ebay, and while I do plan on getting a N3DS XL in the near future, I don't have one yet. From what I've read around the web, it seems that I'll have to re-download all of my previously purchased software that is attached to my Nintendo ID once I buy another system. That I don't have a problem with, especially since I've only purchased maybe four games on the eShop and don't have much save data attached to any of them.

What I can't seem to find any information on is the Street Pass data. Can I back this up to my PC to use with my future system? Or is it essentially lost without being able to do a proper system transfer?

It's saved to your SD Card, so you can just copy and paste it to your new MicroSD card and plop it in your N3DS. Just make sure you copy your Mii Maker data too.

Thanks for the quick response!

I copied the entire contents of the SD card to my PC. Is the Mii Maker data in there too? Or is it on the system memory?

My special edition 3DS XL broke! There is a crack on the top screen and I have no idea how it happened. I was thinking of getting a new 2DS or 3DS XL if a good deal pops up but the problem is it won't turn on. I have ambassador status on it and I don't know if there is any other way to transfer that to a new system. Anyone have have experience with something like this?

Ambassador status does transfer over, but you need to sign onto the Internet and transfer it over via your NNID.

If you don't have a repair place near you, you might want to contact Nintendo.

I don't think it's worth it to get it fixed so I just want to make sure that I can transfer everything online and not loose anything. I have only done local transfers before.

You can't transfer via a regular PC. Has to be done via a 3DS connected to the Internet.

I'm thinking of selling my New 3DS XL with three games and the charger for $200 plus shipping. Is that a fair price?

Edit: Must've been a great price. Sold within hours of listing it.

That is a REALLY good price..

I got my White 3DS XL with Mario Kart 8 and no charger (using old Dsi one) for 200 bucks

What three games are included?

When it comes to pre-installed games, I know they say you can re-download them on that console, but is there a way to tie the pre-installed games to your Nintendo Network id so you could download the games on another console?

I am purchasing the Pokemon Red/Blue console for the collection but I would like to still continue to use my Monster Hunter console due to the bigger screen.  I was curious if I could setup the Pokemon one to where my NNID is attached, and then download Red/Blue on my Monster Hunter console, or if Red/blue is only re-downloadable on the Pokemon console specifically

You would have to do two System Transfers, I believe. One to the RBY 3DS, re-download the game, then transfer it back to the Monster Hunter console.
