Official CAG Destiny Thread - Rise of Iron

I'm all for group activity even if it's just patrolling tbh, my main concern is disconnecting during a raid...I'm reading up on how to make my connection more stable w/the Destiny servers. Hopefully configuring my router etc will do the trick. I remember there was something on 360 to do w/Halo that helped.

Finally got my 25th kill w/the sword, Shaxx'd, then went to the Dreadnaught. Needless to say it took 4 tries because 2 were disconnects mid boss fight and one was me not being able to trigger the door to open. The Don't Touch Me gloves were certainly a hilarious boon fighting him once all the adds were cleared.

Now I'm farming Spinmetal (got 2 special materials so far) and trying to electrify everything w/in arms reach (44%)...thank goodness that Arc lightning grenade can take out multiple trash mobs. I'm hoping I can get this done by next Armsday...though I'll definitely need a coordinated fireteam to do the final phase of this w/the warden and Alak Hul? If that's the guy you fight in the dark, which I've done once before...it's probably one of the cooler boss fights I've seen in this type of game in a while.

Celestial Nighthawk - worth it? I'm reading you can 1 shot Crota, but 99% of the time I run Nightstalker for anything PVE related w/randoms or fireteam. I just like the orb factory and utility of that subclass in a group.

I'm actually thinking of rolling on the primary legacy engram in hopes for something that has a Y2 counterpart. Otherwise it'll be a 3oC's shopping day only.

 
Hey 100xp I also need to do the end Arc sword strike with the warden so whenever you collect all your special materials look me up. I could raid tonight but it would have to be a 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm est window for me and that would be it.

I would love to, but weekends are too hard for me to commit to a full raid so I more than likely will have to pass. Thanks for the thought, though.

I'm hoping it's as easy as that and the raids are designed w/in mind if you do DL you can get back in at some check point, esp w/Destiny Servers being the way they are for a lot of ppl.

It's Friday so I should be on and ready at 9:30-10pm EST til whenever we finish or someone needs formula.

 
Becoming very bored with not much to do minus my pursuit of a Twilight Garrison.  Think I will play less on xbox and work on my characters more on PS4 I guess.  Still after a 320 ghost and still have not gotten one yet.  Getting a solid dependable group to play on a consitent basis is becoming quite the chore.

Had one raid earlier in the week, the one you missed out on io, where I was getting so pissed at the constant fuck ups.  I seriously almost just shut my console off it was so bad.  We literally spent double the time on oryx that we spent on the rest of the raid.   :roll:

On a side note I did get a double 320 drop on Warpriest this week.  :D/   Raze Lighter and Sleeper are now 320 because of that. :D

Trials maps have become complete poo the past few weeks minus Burning Shrine on New Years Weekend.  

PvP as a whole is becoming quite tiring with the constant lag.  

I'm just very unhappy with Bungie and the fact that they pretty much hinted that no big reveal is slated for the return of the weekly update next week, means not much to look forward to.  This constant events idea so far IMO has been a complete fuck 'ing joke.  SRL and the festival were not even cool for a day.  Guess they are too busy counting money from all the emote sales.   :roll:

I do think SRL was somewhat interesting. If they had events on that scale every month or so that would be great. I just don't even see that happening.

That's kind of why I want to do this newb run - it will be a nice change of pace. I'll try to be on at 6pm and maybe we can start it though we'd still only have 4.

If nothing else, maybe we can run the Nightfall - I haven't done that this week yet. I still haven't gotten that Titan helmet from Alak-Hul yet. (And it would be good practice for you guys who are doing the sword quest).

Got a Bad Juju and like my third Darkblade's Spite (fusion rifle) from the Alak-Hu Nightfall.   That helmet continues to elude me.  But I still have 2 more characters to run through it so I'll definitely do that this week for the better chance at the strike-exclusive drop.

It was just 3 of us so we did some story missions, calcified fragment hunting, Court of Oryx, and the Nightfall.

Can anyone else here join in on a Raid Sunday evening?  I'm available whenever - just post here if you can make and it and what time.  If we get a mix of vets and newbies I think we can get through King's Fall pretty quickly.  It would be nice to do it this week for 100xp and Flacksguy so they can do the relatively easy Warpriest challenge.  We're just going to do it on Normal so it should be pretty stress-free.

I'd be more than happy to teach all of you guys. I don't get frustrated with people that are learning but man the other night it was people who were playing absolutely awful and not communicating, the latter is what pisses me off the most really. I understand not everyone is going to be really good but if you are bad and don't speak, that will get you on my shit list real fast ;)

 
I can be on tonight at 10:00 pm est to run the raid if we for sure set something up. I checked yesterday at 9:00 and didn't see anyone on so I just went to bed since I had to wake up at 4:15 am for work.

I got the Darkblade helm too, from the Nightfall I did with io and 100.
But what was funny is that I was playing as a Hunter. I don't know how many times I've farmed that strike on my Titan looking for that helmet.


ajh, you must have just missed us. I think I got on around 9:30.
Are you available if we try to set something up for Sunday night? Vendetta will that work for you?

It was a good day for primaries for me (funny it has nothing to do with politics). We basically talked about exotics and how it would be nice to get a primary for a change instead of armor...first Xur gave me the Suros regime which I immediately dropped 150 marks to upgrade to Y2. Yes...good analogy flacks it does feel like almost like a machine gun. Then after the nightfall dark fight boss guy gave me Red Death which I was psyched. I'm not used to pulse rifles in crucible yet, now have no excuse.Tried my luck again at Xur and got Y1 Mida so I said okay, time to spend the rest on coins. Hee hee.

Thanks Io and flacks guy for the assist and helping me that rather not do solo story mission among other things.

Also getting close to gathering all the rare materials and arc kills for my exotic sword quest, then will have to pay another visit to dark boss guy who's name my spell check keeps insisting it different. Hopefully we can get that done with AJ since he has the arc sword prepped as well. I think in 5/10 and 86%.

One step ahead of ya but appreciated. I printed out my list at work already and have been slowly mapping out locations with a highlighter in my spare time...at work of course. Hahaha.

Trying to level up my Suros Regime, the spinning up perk sounds amazing...plus I've seen less of them in crucible so it'll be nice to mix it up.
 
Yea, they just have no roadmap for the game right now, or at least are not willing to share the details of what they have planned and that is just not good enough for most of us that have been here since Y1.  I think someone posted it in the PS4 thread, but other games (Elder Scrolls) announced a 6 month plan to keep people interested, but Destiny has disappeared since Thanksgiving.  At least last year there was the 'comet' leak and some other stuff out there keeping us going but at this point there is nothing except Deej on a beach sipping a Corona.  

SRL was fun for about a day and nobody would have played it if it weren't for the 320 Helmet drops or chance to get the Chaperon quest done.  

I am back in that rut where I do challenge mode on reset and then walk away for the rest of the week.  Don't even bother with Nightfalls or weeklies (Crucible or Strikes).  I did the daily stuff for a few days to build my marks back up after iron banner but haven't cared much after those first few days.

As for a raid on Sunday send me a message even if I'm not online.  Sunday is usually TV night for the wife and I but with with the NFL playoffs on plans might be different.

So I ran the Nightfall this morning and got my 4th or 5th sub 300 Vanguard Ghost in a row. Even the little bit I have been playing lately is burning me out. I will be on tonight to hopefully run the raid with some of you but I think other than running the raid once a week I'm done.
 
That would be great if Glock can make it, and maybe Vendetta will be around, then we'd be set.

I boosted all of my most used weapons to well above 300, and armor on both my Titan and Hunter are already at least 310 or higher for everything, so I am set for tonight.
I even went around jumping on those invisible platforms all day for a little extra practice.
 
It is helpful to be over 300 when doing the Normal raid.  Under that you do less damage.  Way back when we were first doing the Raid it was definitely a handicap when 2-3 people were sub-300.   But it probably doesn't make too much difference now as the 2-3 of us that are 310+ can probably make up for it.    Just note that if you are sub-300 you will be doing certain tasks that don't involve shooting some of the bosses ;) (where DPS Is key).

 I'll be on at 7:30 Pacific/10:30 Eastern then.  I am really, really sick, so I'm not sure how effective I will be but I'll try my best.

My apologies again guys for being the one to hold everyone up with all of the disconnections. I really don't know what that was about, I rarely have issues like that.
Maybe my ISP was trying to tell me to stay out of the Raid...too much platforming.

I still had a good time though, hopefully we can finish Oryx and then I may retire from Kings Fall for a while....at least on my Titan anyway.
Had I been on my Hunter, I think I'd have done OK.

Thanks everyone who participated in the King's Fall Raid and being so patient, also giving a shout out to my little one who let me get as far as we did w/out waking up in the middle of the night and needing sustenance in liquid form. hahaha.

Flacks, your disconnects to the Destiny server made me less bad about my disconnects from XBL towards the end.

I think I got what to do down pat for all the stuff up to Oryx. Definitely know exactly what to do for the daughter's fight. Jumping puzzle wasn't as bad as I thought, esp with some of you guys standing at virtual check points directing traffic...of course now Bones of Eao has become a crutch. I used Red Death all the up til the Daughter's and then switched to Haakon's Hatchet and the boost in light and RoF made a noticeable difference.

Drops of the night (4 me): my 1st run

- Hard Light 310 (Warpriest)  :D/

- Defiance of Yasmin 310 (w/Hot Swap from Golgorath)

- Kingslayer Shell 304 (cooler but lower light than IB shell)

- Jasper Carcanet 310 (Hunter artifact, same light as IB blue reward, slightly lower stats but better grenade perk)

- ...and I think all the calcified fragments from the raid

I'm at 308 now.

 
Yeah, that was fun - too bad we couldn't get Oryx done.  Though with me as the runner (by default) that was going to be iffy anyway ;).  (We had been at it for about 4 hours and people had to leave then so we didn't even really try it).  For whatever reason the Sisters seemed to give us the most trouble.  I guess that makes sense when you have 2-3 people who have never done it before.  It can be a little rough when you get put on the spot like that.

If anyone wants to help Flacks and 100xp finish up Oryx really quick Monday (if they are available) we should do it.  I think with 4 vets and a good runner we can get them through it quickly on Normal.

I finished up my last 2 Nightfalls after we did the Raid.  So get this: I got the Darkblade Spite fusion rifle all three times.  And it seemed like each time someone else got the helmet and was upset about it ("I got the stupid helmet again" was one quote I heard).  Damn, I'd like to get one of those - it is one of the few things I have left to get in this game.   I deleted the first fusion rifle I got earlier in the week but the 2 I got tonight were exactly the same besides the light level: both with increased movement speed after a kill and possible health regen after a kill.   And both solar.  The one I got originally was Arc.  So that was just RNG trolling me by giving me 2 identical ones.

My Nightfall drops were actually really good: Bad Juju, Zhalo Supercell, and some Hunter arms with fast pulse rifle reload (which I was missing).  Of course I already have the weapons so those just turned into shards.  But it figures I get good drops form the Nightfall completion screen when it was really the helm drop that I wanted.  This game.

Do the Tier 3 bosses in Court of Oryx change every week?

I need the fragment from all 3, and if they do change I'd better get one done today.
Luckily I have a charged rune.

Thats cool the you got that ghost, 100. Been wanting that, I love how it looks.

I ended up with the artifact, 310 sniper, 306 rocket launcher, & 300 gauntlets. Which I'm very happy about, I really wanted at least one raid weapon.

Io, if you're on at all during the day today, I'll gladly farm that Nightfall with you. I love that strike.

For the Daughter's part, I think the variable we ran into that was uncontrollable was the witches not facing us...not sure if that's in part of exactly where you slam her or how she feels atm, but I know came pretty close a handful of times and didn't beat her because of that. Destiny end game apparently is all about the gaze and this is the only time you really want a boss to be staring straight at you.

If we go back into the Raid, is everything clear up to Oryx hence why we're trying to finish it before reset?

Wow, just checked I'm only missing 29 fragments after last night...that's pretty crazy. I think I went from 2, 5, then 21 in 2 days.

Tonight & tomorrow night I have a modified schedule, so I should be able to play uninterrupted at night from about 10 pm - 1 am EST, this barring emergency.

 
I can be on tonight again around 10:30 pm est if you need another to help with the raid. Sorry I wasn't to talkative at the start but my wife was sitting next to me with that "you are such a frigging dork" look on her face every time I said something via the headset. If I can recommend something if the few guys who haven't fought Oryx yet watch a few YouTube videos on the fight just to get the basics down. I know thts what I did and it helped me a lot.

And as far as Flacksguy's connection issue is your "NAT" in the open position or is it listed a moderate or strict? On your Xbox go to Settings than Network and it should be listed on that page. I know sometimes mine switches back from open to moderate and than I have Destiny connections issues from time to time.

So I understand and have been taking part in it, I currently have one pulse rifle order in but I don't like the rolls...some of the stuff I've been reading has been vague or confusing. So, if I don't cash in and collect the gun am I able to wait another week for it to reroll the order?

I think at this point I have pretty solid primary options via drops and exotics, even my vanguard hand cannon reward drop feel better in crucible than my Ace of Spades...and I don't know if I can roll much better than the Hawksaw I got or replace Red Death. So freeing up inventory space would be great if I can. I will still roll on shotguns for PVP. I have yet to get a Y 2 one w/Range finder...I might just level up 'Her Courtesy' for crucible. It seems to have all the stuff I want in a shotgun.

Yeah, just wait it out and see if next week's rolls are better. If not keep waiting until you see something you like.

I got a nice Suros dis43 scout with hidden hand that way as well as well as an Uzume rr4 with grenadier and clown cartridge (particularly like the sniper because of it's high rate of fire,it holds 5 in the mag and it was Void damage)

I hate to say it but you got a little hosed on drops. This is the way they work: Besides the challenge rewards (which were your 310 sniper and artifact) these are not guaranteed. All chests will give moldering shards and then possibly another item:

1) Chest after totems: fusion rifle, ghost

2) Warpriest: sniper and heavy weapons

3) Golgoroth: arm, leg, and chest armor

4) Sisters: class item, shotgun

5) Oryx: primaries, helmet, or really ANY other raid piece (ghost, shotgun, etc).

So while you were a little lucky getting the ghost from Totems, as they probably only drop about 1/4 of the time as far as I've seen, you got hosed by the Warpriest. You didn't get any normal drop (as the sniper and artifact were from the challenge) and you also didn't get any drop from Golgoroth and the Sisters. That is a pretty bad run of RNG there.

I think on your first Oryx clear you are guaranteed a primary. After that, it is like any other drop. If you have 20 moldering shards with you, you will get a second drop from Oryx. But you probably don't have 20 yet.

And yes, we'd have to run the Raid tonight to start off right at Oryx. After reset you'll have to start over again from the beginning.

And Flackguy, yes, the Court of Oryx Tier 3 boss changes each week at reset. I think there are 3 of them in total? Maybe 4? It's been a while ;). Did you guys get the calcified fragment when we beat the Warpriest challenge? The 3 from the challenges were the last 3 that were "revealed". Until the challenges came around no one knew where the last 3 were. But with that "extra" one you have a little more leeway to get your 45. You'll only be missing the 2 other challenge ones so you can skip 3 others - meaning you really only need to get one Court of Oryx Tier 3 boss and then you can get the other fragments in the same week (though I think you did miss one in the Raid too).

If the two of you want help getting the "smell like hive" one on the Dreadnaught let me know. I still haven't gotten it on my Titan I think. It really helps to have 2 other people standing on the invisible platforms for you. Another you should work on is the Agonarch rune. Make sure you charge that once every day by killing the Taken mini-bosses in the first area of the Dreadnaught. I still need to do those on my non-Warlock chars too since they had deactivated it for so long. I assume it works again now?

The one for the Argonarch Rune I did today, I happened to have one charged, and I got the Tier 3 done tonight with the help of some randoms.

I did miss that one after the hive ships but thats ok, by my count I should be fine. I think I'm at 41 or 42, and I still have the other two Tier 3s, the skyburner, the hive scent, and the shield bros strike.


Edit-oh, and sorry I didn't get back to you Glock, I got right off when I saw no one from the other night was on.

Well they certainly made it seem like I was getting a decent RNG, hopefully next run~ the drops will be better for me...until then, I'm enjoying the @#$% out of this 310 Hard Light from warpriest and thanks again for guiding me to all those fragments...hee hee. Haven't tried it in 6v6 crucible yet but last night's Salvage matches went pretty well w/smaller engagements. I usually won the trade, even when going 1 v 2 sometimes (though having 2 trip mines and 2 throwing knives might have contributed to that as well).

I looked back at my inventory from the raid and I do recall getting a Darkhallow Mantle hunter's cloak only that it pales in comparison to the SRL cloaks I've got. I wear it around when I'm not doing anything serious because it does look cool and I've been wearing this SRL racing scarves so long I miss the whole exclusive hunter cloak look.

Just waiting for Armsday to hand in the next part of the exotic sword quest so I'll need help w/downing the warden and Aluk-hal possibly tomorrow night or later in the week. A 310 sword should bring my light up to 310...I should probably see about getting more light into my Bones of Eao also.

Weekly NF looks promising, the active modifiers don't sound that bad at all...Small Arms, Grounded, and Chaff really don't seem like skulls that work against us much for this mission at least...I also think this Fallen Saber is the most common mission I've done in the RNG that is heroic strikes, this one being a NF though.

I'm down for whatever tonight as it is one of my few nights I can play uninterrupted in the evening.

 
Damn, did I miss a CAG raid?! Need to keep tabs on this thread a bit more. I'm up for the next one, 276 light now and have been working my way through the story quests.

I think I had the lowest light at the raid (301) and it showed in the summary screen. Fortunately I was able to contribute in killing adds, boss sequence puzzle stuff, and tethering bosses. You're definitely going to want to get your light to higher...some stuff you can do just by doing some of TTK longer story missions and chain quests. Eris gave me a choice of (3) 310 artifacts the other day...I picked the one that just had more commonly occurring actions in the perk columns for me.

Also don't forget if you didn't already know, always wear a combination of gear that has the highest light when you decrypt stuff so it has a higher chance to be higher. A common mistake was players decrypting in racing gear right after a race, some of which had 3 light vs 300+

Plus since you mentioned you do a lot of pvp, next Iron Banner you should be able to get some high light gear...which I'm guessing is next weekish?

Just saw tgis: guardian.theater. Pull up that site and enter your gamer tag. It will pull up clips other players have made that you may be in.

That's pretty cool...so far no embarrassing clips of me yet, only my name in the guardian roster along with some clips where apparently I'm not even playing in the crucible match so no idea why it would show up.

In other news...Armsday! Now the wait is over and I can proceed to the next step of the Exotic Sword quest. Woo hoo! I also finally was able to finish a quest for Petra and she has directed me to go help Valriks. Rep is now rank 2 I think and she's opened up her bountiful bounties to me, as if I needed more things to do in Destiny.

So it seems in the order of things...Exotic Sword, then Sleeper Stimulant, Boolean Gemini, and likely Touch of Malice to follow. Though, I haven't figured out how to interrupt the destiny event website yet but I've been hanging out in those areas during what seems to be the time a public event will occur...but so far defending a warstat has not for me and I need all 3 to get to the next step in that quest.

 
Since I might not be on much in the next few weeks I decided to try to get some raid runs in last night.  Didn't have much luck on drops.  No high level ghosts or class items and my Golgoroth drops were gloves on 2 characters which is the only one I don't really need.  Did get a 320 chest on my hunter which was the one I needed there.    Couldn't get any Oryx kills in either.  Kept running into LFG teams with plenty of bad deaths and/or who couldn't track down the Knights when doing the 8+8 strategy  Bad RNG and failed Oryx runs make me remember why I don't spend nearly as much time on this game as I used to.  Their lack of any type of strategic direction for the game doesn't help either.  Anyone think they will bring something significant with the return of the weekly update?  I'm guessing probably not.

I should be on tonight same time ish...10 pm ish, earlier if the offspring goes down for the count sooner than later. Hopefully we can find a 3rd who's done it already and can veteran us to victory!

GlockGlock - shouldn't Iron Banner be up next week? Granted that's not significant news to the old guard...but it's something something.

Sorry tonight and tomorrow are bad nights for me got two days of first shift at work. I could do Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night anytime after 10:00 pm est if you can wait.

If you guys want to do another CAG raid this Sunday I'm up for that. We need to get Oryx killed this time though!

I've already done 2 full hard mode raids and will probably mop up the 3rd one tonight. I was lucky on one of them to get a double 320 armor drop from Golgoroth (one guaranteed from the challenge and one via crazy RNG luck). Then I decided to make my Titan's Helm of Saint 14 320 from the one single 320 SRL helm I ever got. So now both my Warlock and Titan can be 320. I think I need 2 or 3 armor pieces for my Hunter still.

The Golgoroth challenge won't be nearly as easy as the Warpriest but I think given that you guys have been through the fight once already we can probably manage it. The difference is that we ALL have to take the gaze on each phase. So the way to do that is to assign numbers, with #6 being the guy who holds it while we DPS. It requires a little better timing with shooting down the orb, though, which we struggled with a little last time just on the normal fight.

Lots of stuff for me on there - mostly I'm not involved in them though. 'cept there is this one where a guy No Land Beyond's 3 of us trying to cap a control point and I'm one of them. Pretty damn embarrassing. We were looking the other way since there were snipers over there as well. I didn't even realize we could be seen from the other side. (It is on that one map with the portals and platforms everywhere).

 
That site with the clips is pretty cool.  Just watched a few of them back to the last iron banner.  Mostly just had my GT appearing getting kills or getting killed or on the leaderboards when they popped up.  I'm sure there are some bad ones of me when I was doing IB later in the night and passing out.  

If iron banner is indeed next week I can't get too excited for that.  I'll actually be out of town for work a lot more going forward so won't be on much during the weeks.  Since I have all 6 IB bounties saved on all 3 characters maybe I'll hop in on the later days to max rank.  The only reason I would play is for a 320 ghost or a 320 class items (do those even drop)?

Oryx HM is the only thing I really have left to do this week if anyone has room in any groups this week.

 
haha, since Warpriest challenge was the 1st time we cleared it w/me, it's the only way I know how to beat him. Golgorath seems pretty routine, if just part of how one would beat a boss in an MMO.

Our raid group might have a different dynamic as well assuming we have all the same players + someone else to replace the LFG guy we picked up before totems.

If I can get the last part of the exotic sword quest done my light level should be higher by whatever replaces a 295 heavy light slot to 310 equation math is hard thing. Alak-Hul and some other guy named Adleg same something about Shaxx's mom the other day...so yeah, out of respect for said mom, we need to put him down the way Shaxx asked me to.
