Whatever your opinion on Braid is, we can all agree it was a landmark game for indies.  But has there ever been a situation like this where a dev charged so much more for a game versus the previous one?  I can't imagine this is going to sell well at all.  I liked Thomas Was Alone well enough and thought Volume looked cool, but I still waited for a sale on that and it didn't even start out at $40.

Background 1 + Character 3 looks best, IMO.
Character 1, background 1. She looks much smoother and realistic.

3 is entirely too cartoony/cell shaded for the setting of the game in my opinion. Looks good but not what I want to see the monsters and characters dressed up in at all.

so far crazy day in diablo. Some treasure goblins left a portal open so i took a trip to their greedy lil vault and then soon after i was fighting rainbow unicorns and cuddle bears. i think i need more sleep. im tripping out and if i die in hardcore while im zoned im gonna regret it. no ragrets

You guys who thought The Witness was going to be priced as a regular indie game, do you also think No Man's Sky is going to come in at $20? Because I've got some bad news for you...

The Witness has been in development for 7 years. It features an expansive 3D world. The game is "indie" in name only, which is exactly what the article Kilik posted said. The game is basically a AA game. It's not a monster AAA title funded by a huge publisher, but its development cycle is far more in line with one of those games than what Braid was like. Talos Principle is a way better comparison to The Witness than Braid is.

Blow made a butt ton of money on Braid and I'm sure he's spent a lot of it on The Witness.

As for will the game sell well and will it be good? Yes, I think it will sell well. It looks good visually and Blow has a pretty big following, a lot of people have been frothing at the mouth for The Witness for a while. Blow has also done a good job of keeping the game in the public's mind without massively overhyping it.

Will it be good? I really don't know. I don't really get what you "do" in it yet. It has to be much much deeper than any of the gameplay trailers have let on. I'm excited to see what the reviews look like. I could see it end up being a disappointment to me, just because it reminds me more than anything of games like Ether One where their "puzzles" are really just convoluted and obscure actions that have to be completed.

I can see what you mean, but Character 1 just looks...off to me--a bit too bright, maybe? By contrast, I think Character 3 looks more stylish and cool. I wish they had screenshots showing more than just Miriam and that one room with those choices, though.

That reminds me, I need to stream Braid now that I have an El Gato and educate some of you fools as to why it's such a great game.
Why don't you just blow Jonathan Blow already and get it over with?

Mild, the endgame dungeon in FFX-2 is pretty long and grindy, so you have that to look forward to. The rogue-lite game you have to play as well is actually pretty fun, and I wrote a miniguide for it on TT that will make it super easy for you.

I think I have Braid on 360. Or maybe it was just the demo. I can't remember now, but in any case I didn't play much of it. It did seem pretty cool and I should.

EDIT: just checked and it was just the trial. But why is Braid $10 on 360 and $15 on PS3???

I bought like five $2 shirts from Gamestop and a pair of those Batman pants. Thanks Vig.

And no, I don't wear them in public, I just think they're cool lounge around the house shirts. The Red Hood one is cool and I would probably wear that one in public.

You want to blow the guy but that's how you talk about his new game? What do you want to do to people who make games that you have positive things to say about?

I ended up in a sea of unicorns/cuddle bears this morning too and was very, very confused.

So it turns out cheapy be a lazy cheap fuck was the reason the site was slowly crumbling. But I was so sure it was our 50,000 post thread!
I thought this was already pretty well known. I mean he basically hasn't done much in years, doesn't even run the child's play thing anymore. It's obvious he can't be bothered and he puts too much faith in his shitty programmer. It's kind of a shame some of the ideas were good like a price tracker, collection system, blogs etc. Just no real coherence to the site at all. Most people just skip the main page and head right to the forums I'm guessing. It' s basically just enough to get those referral link payouts.

I started watching it in season one but stuff came up and fell behind so I just bought it off the UV *cheap!* thread here. I actually like it a lot, it's pretty cool to see the origins of some of the characters
Is there a specific UV code thread I'm missing or were you just in the trade forums? That's where I buy codes. Need to see if anyone is selling The Martian for a decent price.

I miss the good old days when Cleaner was competitive.
Be careful what you wish for! Were we as annoying as wren/Mild or kilik/Sage. Can I be the Mild/Sage good half?

Witcher 2 is showing up for Free on the 360 store. http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/The-Witcher-2-Assassins-of-Kings/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80257520824?noSplash=1
It already was a GWG but if you missed it or don't have Gold, grab it before they fix it.
It's a new backwards compatible title and free for the next couple weeks. Any Xbox users can grab it if they missed it when it was GWG.

Portal 2 co-op complete. Now just need to do the 4th chamber with no deaths, go through tutorial with a newbie, and get a hug for the plat.
Where the fuck is my hug, asshole?!

Will you wear pants too?

As of Jan 4th the developer still says it's "on the way."

So is Christmas.

I think you have me confused with someone else. Although she scares me much less then Trump.
Yeah but Trump got the Sarah Palin stamp of approval yesterday. Probably because she saw him on the cover of one of those magazines she "reads". As if I didn't need another reason to not vote for Trump.

yep, that's the one. seemed like a fun idea until I realized that I might actually have to play through the game now to see it.
I preordered it off the MS Store using one of those $10 Golden Crisp codes and it should qualify for the $15 Xbox Rewards bonus if it ships by 3/31/16. I still think it's going to be a bust but with Hastings around, I'll probably make a couple of bucks on it.

I don't understand being too self concious to wear a gaming tshirt in public. Sure its not great to have a wardrobe consisting entirely of them but acting like its wrong or embrassing to wear one at all, ever, is ridiculous.

I wear a lot of gaming/nerd related shirts. Sure, people give me some weird looks, but I don't care what anyone else thinks of me. The random high five from a stranger who thinks they are cool is pretty awesome though.

Wow Amalur seems to have a really long trophy list.
I thought this game was pretty fun. I didn't notice the hard difficulty trophy before I started and didn't have another playthrough in me so I abandoned it after I finished the story. lots of sweet sweet commons though and I think there's a pretty fair amount of content to chew through if you're headed for the plat.

I have an octodad shirt that I wear pretty regularly and that's about it for me.  I have too many nerdy indie rock and threadless shirts too but mostly I just end up in a plain white t-shirt these days.  who am I trying to impress anyways.

I would never wear a gaming shirt.  But not because I care what people think but because I never wear anything other than regular shirts, polos, and button downs.  I dont like standing out in a crowd.

The only gaming shirt I have ever really liked is the one of the controller that chicks should wear.  Very niiice.

I don't remember having too strong of an opinion either way about Braid when I played it 6 years ago, the rewinding mechanic was pretty neat, but had already been done before in other games like the Blinx the Cat series.

Eh, as a slightly overweight single guy in his 30's, I don't feel like wearing video game shirts in public works for me.

I will wear video game shirts more frequently if they're obscure, like a logo or emblem from the game but doesn't have the actual title of the game plastered all over it.

It all depends on where I'm going and what I'll be doing for me.

Those types are usually ugly and obnoxious anyway.

I have plain single colored Nike shirts in a lot of different colors.  I wear one with a pair of Levi's every day to work.

I do not have any gaming shirts, but I do have quite a few beer related ones.  The one that gets the most odd looks is this one from my trip to Minnesota in 2010.  I bet Zimm's lady would find me sexy in it.

Spoilered because it is huge.

I'm not a slightly overweight single guy in his 30's, but I too prefer more subtle gaming shirts.

Currently debating getting the parappa the rapper hat though...
