This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Also yesterday I played Blade and Soul for 9 hours straight.     I mean I got up for food.  So that is an improvement from my Diablo 2 days. But yeah.

Not cheap enough

I own these speakers that I've been happy with but I'm not much of an audiophile to give a truly grounded recommendation. Ignore the phone/playback control things under the features... someone at Amazon was drunk and must have put in the wrong details there. They're just nice desktop speakers.

You know, Spoder said the same thing so I tried to spam invite again and he still didn't get it. He then said someone else had spammed invited him to the group before and he ignored it so that's why he didn't receive it. Could that be the case? If not, maybe the group is broken.

I have great headphones, but I want some cheap'er speakers just for watching tv and such when I dont want to put a headset on.

Amazon Basics has some cheap, well reviewed ones too.

I'm half tempted to get some blue led computer speakers, but then I remember I have some studio monitors stored at my parents house that are much better than anything I could buy for cheap.

Though I do have nostalgia about the good old days, researching and trying to find a cheap 5.1 surround sound speaker system and all of the wires that came along with it.

If you don't care about how they look:

parts-express.com has "buyout specials" (clearance basically) on some very old computer speakers. (as in from the mid 90's old)

The 3 models that appear good:
"Sound Force 515 Powered Computer Speaker Pair" $8.48
"Sound Force 680 Powered Computer Speaker Pair" $13.88
"Sound Force 800 2.1 Computer Multimedia Speaker System with Subwoofer" $21.80 OOS :(
$6.95 flat standard shipping

These models have been on clearance for over a month. There are also other models that are even cheaper but they do not come with an AC adapter (thus being pointless value wised)
They are the mid 90's beige standard vs today's black standard.

The 800s are really big. I've been thinking about picking up a set for the garage.

For the size of the 680s, that's a pretty great price considering you are talking 4'' woofers. The 800s too with the 6.5 woofer and 3'' mains.

My eardrums still haven't recovered.

Felt like Descent in the controls and some of the level design, but that only helped me realize that I really don't need any more Descent games where i'm flying through tunnels in my life. I'd give it a solid alienwarefreebie/10.

Yea, Descent was very blah. It did look nice, but no sense of direction, weird code BS to set up a multiplayer match and just in general wasn't very fun. After a few of the bros left that we played Sonic All Stars Racing and that was fun despite the fact Im horrible at it and it took me a few races to get any sort of decent play out of myself.

I'd say not even bother with Descent Underground. I can't imagine it being improved by much even when its out of EA.

Glad I wasn't tempted by the IG bundle. Creator sounded pretty terrible when confronted with criticism too. Just another flop in the making because of a nostalgic kick. People have to stop going on that already....

 
Did some Dungeon of the Endless last night to "unlock" the limited-time-only bonus character.

It's simple. Start any dungeon, pick the new guy, escape the first three levels. From that point onwards he's yours to keep. Easily done and another excuse to play a fine, fine game. Seriously dig it out of your backlog.

Also unlocked the Endless Space freebie character. All that needs is for you to literally start a new game, then he appears.

Going to try and grab the Endless Legend freebie tonight, shouldn't take long.

Nah, that's not the hard one. The one for returning as a ghost and solving a crime with a wacky sidekick is the one that stumps most people. And don't even get me started on the one where you have to haunt 10 of the people who show up and paw through your prized possessions at the estate sale.

 
You may want to use a walkthrough as some are definitely missable. Successfully staging your death to prank your heirs -twice - definitely needs to be completed early to be on the safe side.

The achievement for DoE takes beating the game which I'll try for since I picked up a character I didn't have unlocked during the three floors. Then again I've played the game over 30 hours and managed to escape all of once on too easy.

EL probably took me just as long but I have no idea how to play that one. Would like to give it proper time eventually. Not sure if I should grab the DLC or wait for a better discount than 66%.

For the Endless Legend achievement, just start a new game and the mission will pop up during your first turn. You have to send a unit to explore a few ruins (technically two, but you'll inevitably not find anything on occasion, so you'll probably need to search half a dozen). Keep your hero and a unit or two stacked so you can win the battle that pops up (and ignore parley with any minor factions to avoid getting embroiled in unnecessary combat). Took about 30 minutes for me.

The EL DLC throws a few new game mechanics and another faction at you, but probably isn't necessary for the average CAG who is just going to play a few rounds. The basegame is fantastic as it is. There is a DLC Pack which includes the two major expansions and the two minor content additions. Haven't heard if there's going to be more stuff added in the future...development may have shifted into full Endless Space 2 mode by now.

Consolebro deal alert - Cowboom has used XBONES for $199.99 today.  That's a freaking steal considering backwards compatibility and all the other stuff the boner can do.  I'm waiting for a PS4 or WiiU myself so I'll pass, but I think it's time for MysterD to come to the bonerside.

Nope, sex pillows aren't my thing so that'd collect dust too. PS4 is the better console, buying an Xbone is just a waste of money.

I don't see the point of XBox really. I mean Sony you have the weeaboo stuff but Xbox has what, Red Dead Redemption and Saints Row 1?

Granted, we're getting more and more weeabous stuff on Steam lately so that's becoming less and less of an issue on the Sony side too.
