Damn, MS... Why do you make stuff so difficult?

I got my new XBone wireless controller working on my PC (Win 8.1) but it wasn't an easy or fun process. (If one didn't know they would work on Win 7/8.1 you would never known.) Hopefully I missed a step and made it more difficult on myself but I suspected I didn't.

Damn, Steam... Why do you make stuff so stupidly or fail to fix stuff?

As I just said I got a new wireless controller... The only way to turn off the controller is to hold the Xbox button down for three seconds but doing this, of course, fires Steam up into Big Screen Mode and, of course, there is currently no way to disable Big Screen Mode in Steam.

Apparently this has been a known issue for a couple of years now.

Edit: After playing around with it some more I figured out if I put the controller in pairing mode (button between the top shoulder buttons) it loses connection to the wireless adapter and then I can hold the guide button for 3 seconds and get the controller turned off without trigger Big Screen Mode.

Its just an inelegant solution.
Just pop a battery out.

It was a nightmare trying to get the XB1 controller to work on Windows 10 properly. The default drivers didn't work from the get go and made it so my right trigger press was the left trigger, and the left trigger was also the left trigger. Also the right trigger, after it was pressed, turned into left trigger always pressed. I had to find the 7/8.1 drivers and install those and then use a 'non compatible', but compatible driver.

I have not had any of those issues...

See Spoder? I think my PS4 controller works pretty good compared to what they're describing.
Step aside for a realz controllerz...

Don't get me started on that either.

The usb on those controllers are awful and the slightest knock to the cord disconnected it from the computer, then games would flicker back and forth between the DS button prompts and XB1 button prompts. Ever do a QTE sequence that would swap constantly between the two? It gets really confusing.

Also those controllers suck on battery life. So playing over Bluetooth is not an option.

You guys having issues Streaming XC2?  This thing runs like crap via the Stream.  So I'm currently re-installing it on the other computer.

I can't figure out if this guy is a bigger moran for complaining about getting free games or for wondering if there's something shady going on for buying from G2A.

I have not had those issues. My only issues have been:

1. Bluetooth. Thing just doesn't run well when trying to use bluetooth so I use it wired all the time.

2. Drivers. Since it isn't natively supported sometimes the drivers don't load up right so I have to restart them or the game.

For the cord, the type of cord makes a world of difference. My Amazon Fire Phone is real finicky with the cords, but when I find a good one for it and I use it with the DS4 I have no issues.

I've not held a DS4 but I'll live with my issues over using a DS3.

It's a tiny controller that has very poor ergonomic design.
I'd say the DS4 is better designed than the DS3, but I had no major issues with the DS3. I have normal sized hands so they work well for me. I don't mind the 360 controller, but it's definitely bigger/bulkier and not in a good way for me. Not as bad as original Xbox though, I could barely play that. I think the worse thing i have for ergonomics are my DSs. The DS and 3DS just are too small and cramped. My 3DS XL is much better, but still not 100% ideal.

I have a Logitech controller which is like holding an ill-shapen brick.  Even for "controller preferred" games, the learning curve on it is steep enough that I usually just go back to M+KB.  That's not entirely Logitech's fault, I feel the same about my knockoff 360 controller as well, though that's not so heavy.

It's the shoulder buttons that really get me.  I never remember that they're there or what the top one does versus the bottom one.

So I can get Xcom 2 from Nuuvem and can play it in the US?

I have not had any of those issues...
Hush, no one likes a braggart... :p Honestly, I really wish that had been me. I followed the instructions I found from MS themselves (website because we couldn't have stuff like that in the box) and whomever wrote them doesn't know how to communicate in a written form... and no one else at MS sat next to him and followed his directions.

Just pop a battery out.

I think popping a battery would be even more inelegant... Plus, the stress on the plastic battery cover you cause each time you open it is adding unneeded wear and tear.

Glad, I didn't just give in and do a Win 10 upgrade... I would still be raging if I had and it didn't work right out of the box.

I'd say the DS4 is better designed than the DS3, but I had no major issues with the DS3. I have normal sized hands so they work well for me. I've heard much better things in regards to the DS4 but playing Demon's Souls on the PS3 literally caused my hands to hurt. Eventually I had to give up and not play any games for a week straight. Other games with the DS3 weren't so bad and I spent allot of time with UC2 and UC3 and did so in long gaming sessions but to me the DS3 is just way too small, I could bump my thumbs together easily when using the analog sticks, but you got to remember I can palm an NBA sized basketball (or at least I could when I had full strength of my hands) so I'm not close to normal.

That said even the original Xbox controller was too big for my hands! That thing was a piece of junk, it too caused physical pain and I was even younger when I tried to use it. Luckily, MS fixed the issue with the "S" and I give them nothing but props for doing so... Sony has always been late to that party.

I like the feel of my new Xbone controller. I feel its a tiny bit smaller than the 360 but close enough and I will adapt pretty quickly to it. The D Pad is a vast improvement to the 360 though I still would like to give that fancy D-Pad on the Elite a try.

Trying to shop at Nuuvem anymore is like 90%

I've done it on my 360 controller for years and have never had any issues. It is inelegant but it's just easier.

Damn, never could get the VPN suggested to me to work... but if anyone is going shopping I would gladly pay them for Mad Max. Just hit me up via PM.
Uh then use a different one?

If tunnel bear isn't cutting it you can still use Hola. The main controversy with them was them whoring out people's bandwidth so the sky won't fall if you use it a minute or two and then disable or delete it.

If you want to risk getting someone else's ear fuZz this is a great deal; many might be damaged packaging.

Ewww.....no...

There are two things you don't buy used from Amazon:

1. Headphones

2. Condoms

3. Humans

Catch-22, man. I don't like controllers so I'm unwilling to spend on an official one. But then part of my complaints might stem from my shitty controllers. But I'm unwilling to spend the money to find out.

That's why you make sure they are new but with damaged packaging; labeled as "used"

Hmmm, a few things I could go for but I need to research and see if they aren't region locked and them figure out how to shadybro on Nuuvem again.

One of my bad experiences with Warehouse deals was a Sennheiser wireless headset deal. I was excited because mine had stopped working in one ear so I ordered and the thing was broken. Just static and choppy sound. Had to return them. Was said. They were clean at least.

So many people popping batteries out, you guys do know the controllers turn themselves off after 15minutes anyway right? Just get a play n charge kit, I think i have to charge my controller once a month (or week if it was a heavy week) and I never pop out batteries or turn it off manually

The only time I had driver issues on my 360 where when I used a 3rd party wireless dongle, but that was just a matter of remembering to go tell it to use the MS drivers and be done. The xbone I just plugged in the adapter and everything worked, but thats also an official adapter, not sure there are any cheap 3rd party ones yet

"The Lunar New Year sale begins February 5 at 9:50 a.m. PST and runs until February 12 at 10:10 a.m. PST"

Why?
Because they're all liberals out there on the west coast and would rather celebrate communist China than something American and freedom-oriented like Lincoln's birthday or President's Day :nottalking:

(Also, Ash Wednesday is that week so they probably hate Jesus, too)

Brodate:

We played Snow tonight, which is a F2P skiing game, unless you are Parallacks, then you paid $10 to fund the Russia mafia for the founder's pack which consisted of an Abe Lincoln ski suit. There was definitely something calming about skiing in the wilderness and there were exciting moments of dodging trees and rocks so you didn't end up Sonny Bono. I never really got the jumping and grinding mechanics down so I wasn't really scoring much points and the server had no events. It had some challenges, but I didn't try them. Not an awful game, but it's far removed from something like the SSX series which just feels a ton more fun and intuitive IMO.

Also, finally made it to San Francisco in ATS and like an idiot I used the Steam screenshot feature instead of the in game button to take my screenshots tonight and I fucked them all up. Had a really sweet one of me driving into the sunset. Oh well. So far I found a decent radio station and discovered that because they speak French in Montreal, their music is also in French. Who would have thought?

Next week we have more events and I think some scheduled this weekend (Payday 2?) but I can't remember them all off top.
fox used the excuse that the server was full, so left to make a slot for Duke, but really he just slinked off to play American truck sim

Umm...no...Region Locked...

You can go to the SteamLocks web site and it will reveal all:

http://vps202375.ovh.net/STLOCKS/
I've purchased from Nuuvem before in the past, but I am assuming since their website change other things have changed as well.

I am trying to order Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity and Stasis. I looked up the games from SteamLocks and found Pillars as the only locked game. I added Wasteland 2 and Stasis to cart on Nuuvem and both games are marked as "Item unavailable in your country". The website will not let me continue checkout.

I am located in the States, do I have to use a VPN or jump up and down with my thumb in my hinnie? What's the trick? Appreciate any help.

Is there a way to tell if something bought off Nuuvem is region locked for GOG?

Also, is there a way to look something up that is a steam key but doesn't have a steam app id (or it probably does but I just don't know how to find it).  Pillars of Eternity is region locked on Nuuvem and the White March part 1 is region locked also, just wanted to check if the full expansion pass was too but it doesn't have a separate page on steam.  I know its probably 99% likely its locked but its a great price so I'd like to make sure.
