This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

i can tell people are enthralled by deals given the sit or stand debate
a keyboard update just for you - Sears had the updated version of the slim one I like and I had $20 in SYWR points so I went ahead and ordered it. Will still keep my eye out for one at the thrift stores, but let's face it, that's just the cheapass in me looking for something to brag about so I can post "found this new in box IBM model M at Goodwill for $1.91"

... Sorry to interrupt the cheapassdesk discussion, but does anyone know someone selling an original Windows 7 Pro? Maybe someone on the forum? I need to get a legit Pro (not OEM), but eBay is filled with lots of sketchy sellers or people who want $250. Or both. :|

you save your goodwill trips for when you need a new hard drive

There's a sketchy ish subreddit where they sell stuff like that. Microsoft software sales or something like that. Sellers were vetted by other users and they stopped accepting new sellers because there were enough established ones. I picked up a couple of windows 8 keys that way.

I've seen that place. All the sellers there have "key only" licenses, which as far as I know aren't completely legal. That's why I'm looking for an actual retail box.

Bah, all this talk of mechanical keyboards, just get the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro membrane. I just retired my Natural Keyboard Pro after 15 years of service due to a sticky shift (no, not that kind of sticky...that sticky happens over by the number keys). Ergonomic, bunch of useful shortcuts keys along the top and TWO USB ports on the back (non-powered)! Most importantly that clicky clack and almost the feel of a mechanical but with the (insert whatever positives membrane keyboards have here).

Replaced it with a the updated model, the Natural Keyboard Elite 4000. All the keys are a milometer or two off and it's just enough that I have to relearn the darn thing. Frankly I don't see this lasting long, the keys are too mushy and the spacebar is...off. The one complaint I had about the Pro is the spacebar didn't work on the edges, the elite it works across the whole bar but sometimes doesn't register...even when it makes the annoying bouncy sound. The shortcut keys are nice and I hacked the zoom slider to work as a scroll. Overall the Pro was a 9 of 10 the 4000 is a 6.

Now that it's gone south on me I have this overwhelming urge to do a mod I saw a few years ago...make the Pro mechanical.

So this is where I can dump my random shet posts I guess I been doing it wrong in TheHangOut chat.

Apparently Just Cause 3 and Dirt Rally was glitched again for on amazon uk.  Fixed now though.  Just thought people would like to know.

What's wrong with OEM?

I'm not sure what version it is but the wife thought she wanted one of those natural keboards at one time... so we got one and it sat in it box for years. Pretty sure it's still wrapped. I fear it's so old it might not be USB. Anyhow, I can dig it out in the morning and give more details if you're curious.

I get the same whenever it briefly comes back in stock. Guess that's their way of fixing it, instead of setting the price to something feasible?

Oh and anyone who doesn't have a copy of Freedom Planet, feel free to PM me.

Also, if we are friends on Steam and you want a copy of Mount Your Friends for some reason, go ahead and PM me on that too.

Anyone want to sell me one of these glitch codes for like $2 because I missed it and you feel bad? :(

weird..it's amazon.co.uk and it refuse to sell to u at that price

The license is tied to your computer motherboard.

I upgrade my computers every few years. My old copy of XP was used in three different systems! So whenever I upgrade this thing, the license would be rendered invalid, and I don't want to have to shell out more money for an OS - and who knows if there'd still be copies of 7 around. And yes I've heard you can call Microsoft and tell them to reactivate the OS on new hardware but considering all the BS they're pulling with 10, I REALLY don't want to take that chance and have them say "no, fuck off, you already paid us once, give us more money and upgrade to 10 already you chucklefuck."

I currently have 7 Ultimate, but it's overkill, and only need Pro since most of the Ultimate features are not of any use to me. I have no plans to upgrade to 10 for any reason whatsoever, unless I stumble upon a cheap retail copy I can dualboot with 7.

Went back into Rise of the Tomb Raider tonight to try a bit of "Expeditions" mode, which is basically just a challenge mode. I have to say its pretty flimsy. This is where all the "cards" come into play. I will say there are a ton of different options/modifiers to play with which are clearly an attempt to add depth to it, but I wasn't really impressed. Its not the worst thing I ever played but I just don't see myself playing it much.

That said, some of the season pass material is tantalizing. I definitely want to play Baba Yaga (first story expansion) and endurance mode sounds like fun, but of course both are paid options. fuckers.
