What? Just go play Catlateral Damage.

I have a curious technical question...  Though I doubt anyone can answer it.

I have the Division's Open Beta ready to go via uplay but i just got the option to download the beta via steam also...   (I was thinking of DL it again to my SSD, to see if it would effect performance any.) but would steam starting uplay cause an issue?

Looks like increase price of Season Pass is new hotness.

Fallout 4 SP increases to whopping $50 soon.
That's a very bizarre decision.

I picked up the FO4 Season Pass for ~$14 at GMG after dissolving what little credit I had left collecting dust. I think I ended up deciding between that or Rocket League at the time. Considering how Bethesda discounts their DLC it seemed like a logical decision.

When Bethesda announced the Season Pass in September they said "We know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass." I guess even they underestimated their own value.

Hey, if Dying Light got away with it...

Their May DLC, Far Harbor, is going to retail for $25 and is supposedly their largest "land mass" in a Bethesda game DLC.   I don't know if they got into a Dying Light situation where they realized they essentially had a second game or what.  Or, you know, it just sounded good to inflate the price.

The claimed value of the Season Pass is now $60 instead of $40.

Seems like Street Fighter V came out with a lot of problems on the pc release.

The huge feature for me being cross-play features which is apparently having problems.

Guess I'll wait for a decent sale now.

Apparently the season pass is on top selling right now.

I might invest into buying the season pass right now and hold it in my inventory till I get the game.

Everytime I have Steam start uplay it just freezes and never works, so I don't even bother with it anymore.

Looks like Fallout 4 Season Pass is on sale at Nuuvem.  Not Paypal or region locked, so you can grab it with just a VPN connection.  Coupon code BEMVINDO10 brings it down to around $19 US.

I'm hoping this "Uh oh, we need to raise the price for all our great content!" schtick isn't some new evil marketing plan to pump up sales.

Reddit sez:

There are two more rounds of free games coming up, once every 48 hours:

  • Round 2: Streets of Rage 2, Binary Domain, Condemned: Criminal Origins
  • Round 3: Gunstar Heroes, Renegade Ops, Viking: Battle for Asgard

There's quite a few people who were disappointed enough with F4 that they weren't planning on buying any DLC. This could entice some of those folks into impulse purchases.

Especially at $19...

I should do this with all games that are on Steam and don't actually use any DRM!

"We haven't even released any buggy stuff yet, give us more money!"

Yeah no, I'll wait until it's $5-10 down the road since maybe one of the DLC packs will be good based on your history.

Seems to be happening regularly already whether it's with season passes or early access games.

50 bucks for a season pass is just insane.   It's not like I was going to pay 30 bucks for it in the first place, but I do worry that it'll drive the MRSP up on whatever goty/complete set that comes out in the future.

50 bucks is never ok, especially in the type of game that ends up having hundreds of hours of additional playtime available from thousands of free mods.

I might understand if a 50 buck season pass added like 80 something percent more content to a 60 dollar game, but it's usually nothing like that.   10 or 15 percent more content for 80 percent more cost seems like a ripoff to me.

You know whenever there's a complete edition it's going to be $60 anyway. The market doesn't support console games that are over that.

Psst, it's a trick to get you to buy the DLC right now for $30.

The biggest problem with that train of thought is that the lions share of worthwhile mods available have ended up requiring the official dlc.

Seems like the $30 oh no we meant $50 jaykay is becoming a common thing with Dying Light being the first.  Anyway, $50 is a laughable price.  They announced one content DLC which, let's be honest, is probably no more than five or so hours long.  The other two DLC are pointless fluff for Sims/E-LARP fans -- trap deathclaws, build robots... O BOI!  Who cares?  And they estimate that stuff to be 'well worth $30 alone?'  That means the other crap will be even more underwhelming.

Will possibly grab the content one at 75% off and wait and see if there is anymore content DLC.

Nah, that's what Gearbox likes to do.  'GUIZ WE NEVER SAID THE SEASON PASS COVERED ALL THE DLC!'  Sort of irked they're overhauling Survival now that I just started to play.  That said I never found hunger/thirst/sleep very challenging since they put copious amounts of food, water, and chems in the game.  If anything Survival should dial back the amount of resources available but it doesn't.

To add: Maybe some of these will include new weapons/gun/armor mods.  I'd have paid for a $5ish DLC with that instead of trapping deathclaws and robots.  I want to do the fighting not build shit that fights for me.

As long as they do two more content dlc i'll be more than happy with my purchase (i bought season pass for 23 bucks on GMG way back when). Tbh I'd be surprised if the content dlc wasn't more than five hours if you do more than just the main story, usually bethesda content dlc is 5 hours at minimum and they're claiming this is their largest add-on in terms of physical size.

That being said what concerns me isn't that they're putting in this "pointless fluff" so much as it just feels indicative of the direction bethesda is heading in, FO4, while I enjoyed it, was pretty disappointing. They really seem to be slowly drifting from what makes their games so compelling to begin with. I get they want to evolve and try new things but I'd prefer they experiment with a new IP as opposed to introducing all this superfluous shit into Fallout/Elder Scrolls. I dread to think what crap they're going to inject into Elder Scrolls VI.

I wish they'd get back to at least adhering to a more complex leveling system (not EVERYTHING PERKS) and resume putting a little bit of effort into their quests. The difference in quest variance between FO3/Oblivion and FO4/Skyrim is just huge. While both series' quests were typically ultimately boiled down to basically "go here, kill this," it got taken to the next level with the most recent iterations. The quests just typically feel somewhat uninspired, the gameworlds are well crafted and immersive enough that it doesn't matter too much, but FO4 was definitely the weakest modern openworld bethesda game imho, which is saying a lot of its weaknesses when you take its considerable advantage in progression of combat from previous titles.
