PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

It was mentioned in the last link I posted on it, but Telltale's Batman series will be the first to show off their new engine: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/03/21/telltales-engine-is-getting-an-upgrade-for-the-batman-series?abthid=56efda3ad79fdf654b00000e
Didn't they get a new engine for TWD s2's release? Or sometime around there? I remember something being said about that at the time.

I'm wondering if the new engine is why nothing has hit Vita lately even though they've promised stuff is coming. If the new engine is going to be ported to Vita then hopefully it'll solve some of the issues there.

I need to get back to Madness Returns. The first game was pretty rough but didn't take long to knock out. I don't think you care about trophies much so I'd recommend skipping it. The second looks great; I really like the very unique style. I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. I can't actually recall what it is that distracted me from it but I do intend to return to it soon.

More Vue observations. If a "recorded" show is listed as "catchup", you can't fast forward, but if it's listed as "DVR", then you can. I can't find a way to say "record this show", so that's confusing. I think maybe if you add it to favorites then it "records", but I have NHL in my list of favorites and they are still showing as catchup and not DVR, so I guess whether or not you can fast forward varies by the network or show. There are also shows that are listed as "on-demand". I haven't tried one of those yet to see if you can fast forward. Picture quality in the recorded shows is the same as for live. Speaking of which...

Picture quality varies. It's not rock solid like Netflix. Most of the time it looks great, but periodically the quality and frame rate drop for a bit. It's frustrating to me, but might not bother others as much.

There are a LOT of restrictions on viewing with the mobile app (iOS). Entire networks are shown as "mobile restricted" and you can't view those on mobile. Others you can. For example, the on-demand ABC/NBC/Fox are all mobile restricted. But you can watch the ESPN channels.

In any case I think I'll pay for a month at the $30 rate so I can watch March Madness on my TV. Then, without MASN, I'm not inclined to pay for it any more, but that's a huge plus - no contract.

Thanks for your info on vue, without having live major networks not sure i'll switch or not. Was really excited for it but the negatives so far make it not sound like a great option, yet.

Oh, one other thing - Vue subscriptions are tied to a PSN account. So unlike Netflix and such, other accounts on the PS4 can't watch it unless they have a subscription. So my wife and kids are going to have to use my PS4 account when they want to watch anything on Vue. You can create multiple profiles in Vue so that different people can have different sets of favorites, though.

So is the new tell tale engine going to have 90s level graphics that run at 25 fps instead of 80s graphics at 15?

I assume it will still stutter
They had to have made improvements to the PS4 engine already. The classic stutters were essentially non-existent. So your post is probably correct, they will likely reintroduce the stutter when they finally had it working well.

Sage - almost literally zero progress. layer 20 today, same score. I guess I need to try something different.
Yeah, I took a break from that mode yesterday lol. Finally managed to get through Boss Rush this morning though. So satisfying once you finally get it. Back to infinity drive tonight.

Sounds like when Bubba Dudley went from ECW to WWF.

IGN liked Day of the Tentacle Remastered: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/03/21/day-of-the-tentacle-remastered-review

8.8/10

Thanks to the timeless quality of the writing, Day of the Tentacle remains as enjoyable today as it was when first released over twenty years ago. Faithfulness to the original art design is reflected in every lovingly-drawn line and hue of the gorgeous graphical presentation, and the zany humor is consistently spot-on. New players should be aware that the leaps in logic can make a few of the puzzles very difficult, but the witty wisecracks keep the search for solutions tremendously entertaining

Ok, last one I swear. Vue is a bit buggy. For example, when testing out fast forwarding in a DVR marked show (in this case a MM game - Xavier I think), I was able to fast forward at 32x until the game started, but then when I went back to PLAY it was frozen. I had to switch to a different recorded game, then come back to the first one and then it played from where I'd left off. On the other hand it is nice that it keeps your place in multiple recorded shows.

Also, after I got it to play, then I went back to the list of recorded games and every game AFTER the Xavier game was listed as "no longer available". I'm pretty sure they were available before that, and in any case those were more recent games so it doesn't make any sense. Maybe they will show up again later.

There's also a minor weird wording thing. Shows that are in the future are listed as "First aired on ..." with the date in the future.

Technology is so awesome.

Before moving all my shit for my new carpet, my PS3 had no problem passing through an HDMI switch before reaching my TV. But since I moved everything back, my PS3 is refusing t work properly when passing through the HDMI switch.

I tried all 3 ports on the HDMI switch with no luck. Tried 3 different cables, all which worked fine when the PS3 was connected straight to the TV. HDMI switch still has no problem handling my PS4 and blu-ray picture in all 3 slots, so the switch isn't defective.

Absolutely no reason that the PS3 shouldn't be able to pass video through the HDMI switcher. Worked just fine for me for years.
For the record, our PS3 is hooked up to an HDMI switch and it works fine.

Am I imagining things or wasn't there an option before to pay the difference with your credit card if you didn't have enough in your wallet to cover a purchase, without having to add the minimum $5? Now I have to add $5 every time. Not that it matters much since I'll use it eventually, but the other option was nice to have.
My recollection was that if you had more than $5 in your wallet, you could just add enough to make up the difference. If you had less than $5, you had to do the minimum $5.

Or maybe that was the Wii/3DS store.

PSNOT March Madness Standings after the 1st weekend:

Can't remember who first place dude is (Avenged?), but Sage currently has the best possible remaining points, followed by me and random espn username dude that didn't change their name so we know who to mock.  We're all pretty close though, and with most of us having the same champ, next weekend is gonna be YUGE!

I still cant believe how many people play and enjoy that Sam and Max game. I tried playing it for 30 minutes and from the constant stutter of the opening scene and slow movement of the characters added on I was thoroughly pissed the entire time. It was such a chore to do anything and the constant stuttering HURT MY EYEBALLS. Not kidding, I felt ill. I think I got your motion sickness just from the stutter.

TLDR: Sam and Max is god awful and my opinion is the only one that matters!

Can we all finally agree that all adventure games are the worst thing on the planet and should be destroyed completely?

Yeah first place is me. We'll see how that lasts though since I had the damn Spartans in the final...

I had $8.XX in there Saturday and still had to add the minimum $5. I guess they changed something.

When Maryland wins the whole thing ... worst to first! You'll see.

Yo Tyler & munky (or anyone else that's played)

Did y'all experience a lot of lag when you played You Don't Know Jack online?  Getting significant delay and stutter answering questions, where the timer pauses every couple seconds and responses aren't registered right away.  And the Jack Attack final round is damn near unplayable with how slow and stuttered it is and not taking your answers.

I agree on Sam & Max. I hated both of them. There were some laughs, but the gameplay was terrible. Most all of their earlier games like those (Monkey Island and Jurassic Park as well) were a chore to get through. When they went to more pure story with just some QTE stuff, they got better. The engine didn't until they got to PS4 and did some improvements.

Where were you before I bought it this morning? Asshole!

Seriously though, if I get around to playing them I know I won't play them straight through. Probably just an episode at a time here and there.

Tell us how you really feel.

$5 has been the minimum for funding your PSN wallet for quite some time. I know it's been an issue with gamesharing--if there was a good sale running people would have to get a few games in a bundle to make sure the total was $5 or more before creating the GS account.

I know that. I'm saying if you didn't have enough in your wallet to cover the purchase, it used to allow you to make up the difference with a credit card even if it was less than $5.

Not at work. I would have told you not to get Alice either.
What was so bad about it? Youtube videos looked cool.

I hope everyone realizes I exaggerate every post like that for effect.

But the fact is the stutter in Sam and Max is some of the worst I can ever remember seeing in a video game that wasnt online. It really did make me feel queesy. And the fact that the graphics are literally from the 1980s or early 90s, and barely anything moves on screen made it inexcusable to me.

The story is pretty cool in Alice, but I was not a fan of the gameplay at all. I admit, it was likely worse for me due to all the collectibles in the game as well since you know my issues with wanting to try to complete everything.

At this point there are just way too many better games out there and I would never increase the backlog when you have limited play time unless it was for a great game on a really good sale. Alice or Sam and Max definitely are nowhere near great, IMO.

Sam and Max games are pretty terrible. There's a step by step guide you can use for them if you want to just check out the dumb story and get a bunch of easy trophies though. At least the monkey island games have some hilarious dialogue. I still have the newer episodic one to play of those though. I love telltale walking dead season 1 & 2.

I looked through the flash sale again and really nothing tempting to me outside of Moto GP (well besides Peggle 2 which I bought in a prior sale) but I know I have much better games than that in the backlog to get to.

Wren, did you get Total Recoil? $.99, twin stick shooter, easy trophies.
yeah buddy! Tyler specifically called it out in the thread for me the other day. You guys know me so well!

Its gotten to the point where I really only enjoy shooters, arcade racing games and the occasional light platformer/puzzle game. And they all have to be easy to get into and possibly easy from start to finish.

And the epic open world GTA style games.

EDIT: Scanning my PStrophies list confirmed thats all I play.

I think Gator is getting confused from all the shitty games he's been playing. Alice is fucking great. Not the first one though, that game is a POS.
Nope. I admit it is a lot better than a lot of the shit I do play. That is an awfully low bar though. I thought the art style and story were well done, but it was not fun to play to me.

Yesterday I dropped my Vita onto our hardwood floor and it complained that the memory card had been removed. When I booted it back up all my stuff was gone. I started searching the floor for the missing memory card and saying fuck a lot... then I realized that the memory card was still in the vita. Not sure why it thought it had been removed, but I popped it out and then put it back in and everything returned after a reboot. At least I think so. It warned that files could get corrupted if you remove the memory card without shutting down. Hopefully I didn't lose any save data.

I'm just going to do a little prebitching today - the who knows where levels with all the idols enabled are a pain in the ass and I'm sick of being stuck on layer 21 of infinity drive in aac.
