Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

No new free PSN junk this week. Although, I did come across Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus that's being published by Aksys Games that released today for the PS4 & Wii U (Digital Only). Probably would have added it to the weekly release list had I known. Granted it's not really Japanese, but could potentially be a decent metroidvania (I think?) game.

Also reading up on the Japanese response to the Star Ocean 5 change because it apparently affects them as well. They are incredibly salty, my god. Someone translated a few of the comments from this site that have probably been deleted now (there are a ton of deleted on there). I wish they would've have edited her face instead though. That would've been the best change I think.

I really think they should just add an in-game setting for sexual content like some games do for graphic violence.

I don't think anyone really ever turns off blood or makes it green, but whatever, you can if you want.

DOA kind of did it by having adjustable boob jiggle. Just go ahead and make whatever changes you would to the game and put them on a "tone down sexual content" switch so the player can decide.

Then use the telemetry data to realize no one actually wants you to change it and everyone playing your game is leaving it on anyway.

Those that got Nights of Azure LE, how would you rate the large fabric poster quality and if it was folded, does the folds stand out.  Just wondering as these larger fabric posters seems to be direction they are heading with their LEs

It feels okay, but I've never put one up nor have I put this one up. The folds when I got it out didn't stand out as they warpped it in a tube-shaped bag instead of folding it like other posters. I honestly wish they had made it a daki instead, but that's neither here nor now.

Incidentally, how should I go about putting this thing up or framing it?

I don't hang such things, but obviously pinning and taping it to the wall are out. So I'd guess the simple solution would be some sort of poster rail. Frames are expensive, unless you find a nice used one at the thrift store, but that's YMMV.

Just thought I should quote this in a separate post in case people miss it. Here are details on that bonus stuff (EDIT: that I just realized is unnecessary because it's all in that image already :oops:):

  • “Ring of the Valkyries” – Increases ATK, INT, and Critical
  • “Gold Bunny Statue” – Increases EXP and FOL
  • “Bushybrume Cincture” – Reduces amount of MP used
  • “Wristlet of the Stars” – Reduces Damage taken
  • “Secret Stahlian Tome” – Increases HP healed

FFXV Carbuncle Summon Info

A new demo, which first leaked this morning, will be available today, where you control a younger Noctis as he journeys through a dreamscape. If you finish it, you’ll get an exclusive Carbuncle summon for use in Final Fantasy XV. It’s actually the only way to unlock Carbuncle in the full game.

Yeah I would have guessed that with 0 news really other than yeah the Steam Overlay...we're working with it. Alright though since tomorrow I get Tokyo Babel. I'll give my impressions of it....but highly looking forward to it.

Also Trillion impressions. The trillion fights are pretty samey but that is a necessity since you have to get used to his attack patterns. I'm not very good at it but am surviving/moving/dealing damage a bit better to the practice Trillion guy. The story is relatively dark in a way and pushes sacrificing and yeah this guy is tough as heck a lot. The gameplay is very reminiscent of a light Princess Maker game. I do not know specifically for triggering story scenes but I know visiting a girl helps get affection up and sometimes stuff happens there though usually it's just a still saying blah in blah is happy. I kind of dislike the training world you do for items.....you get a limited amount of moves and hope to get the items....I have no idea if their is multiple floors but it's hard enough doing just 1. Game is a bit repetitive but alright. I think i'm enjoying it more than the repetitiveness I was facing in Aegis. I do want to take down Trillion though! I will continue to play off and on but I really should finish the Division (least the story missions) and Fire Emblem fates (about 6 missions from finishing one of the sides). I will try to finish off the story once on this though. It's good but not great so far. I don't understand all the systems yet, so it's a learning experience. Easy 6/10 so far for now.
