Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I'm really regretting my Trillion purchase...this game is just kind of boring....I do want to finish...but it's just so grindy. I actually kind of like the Neptunia games....and don't mind IF games, but they can't all be winners. Least I used GCs to pay a good portion of it....but still. Least it has a story....if it didn't I would have dropped it already and traded it in.

If there are or will be cheat codes at some point you could use that. That's what I do for grindy games or games that have terrible flaws like xenosaga's slow ass movement and such. Movement cheat made that game playable. Without it I never would of bothered finishing it.

Hey guys, the PS4 Community thing for this thread has been kinda dead lately, and Draekon had a great idea where we should put a poll up for games where we might be interested in playing Multiplayer together. This way, it'd be nice to run through our backlogs with each other, or just enjoy the newer releases. I'll also be having weekly SFV lobbies on Fri/Sat if anyone is interested.

I figure this is difficult without knowing which game everyone has, so feel free to list any niche games with multiplayer that you happen to have or are interested in. Primarily PS4, but also feel free to list anything.

I have Sword Art Online: Re: Hallow Fragment, Street Fighter V, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Dead or Alive 5 LR, Dengeki Bunko Ignition, Nitroplus Blasterz. 

Here are a few niche games I dont have but think they have MP components: Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Dynasty Warriors?, Warriors Orochi?, DBZ, Naruto.

I also thought if enough interest is gauged, that we could have a calendar where we run through a few older games every week/month. Some suggestions would be Dragon's Crown, I haven't touched it but would love to get it out of my backlog, heard its better with friends. Dengeki, Aquapazza, and Nitroplus as well. Also have never touched Freedom Wars.

I have Dead or Alive LR for the PS4. I'd be down for a private lobby sometime...hopefully with people who don't hold some worldwide top rank.

 
I want to change the shipping address for an amazon preorder I have from last year. I made the order when $35 was the minimum for FSSS. On the order page it says

"Important Message
If you qualified for any of our free shipping promotions, please note that changing your shipping address might affect your order's eligibility."

So now that FSSS is $50, does that mean I'll lose my free shipping if I change the shipping address? Or will it be okay?

I haven't played Senran Kagura on PS4 much lately. I wouldn't mind a few online matches.

Well, a tree fell on some power lines about 60 feet from where I'm sitting, so I'll be absent from the thread for an unknown amount of time (lucky you people). Since I had to borrow a generator to get some other stuff done, I thought I'd do this early because I don't know when I'll have power back. Outside of that, "Forgotten, Not Lost - A Kinetic Novel" release last week without warning, which is a small visual novel about alzheimers. There's also a shojou visual novel called "Destiny's Princess: A War Story, A Love Story" releasing this month which is listed for this week but not a definitive date. I'm getting tired of listing those, so I'm not going to bother unless it has a firm date anymore.

I recall reading there's no porn in this one if you buy anywhere outside of Steam, so it won't be censored there. It's also like $6 or $7 if I remember right. 10% Steam launch discount too.

 
I would love to play any coop games or fighting games (though I'm not good at any) and it doesn't have to be JP niche.  Although a problem is I've beaten most games solo already. 

But as far as niche games go for PS4, I have most PS+ games, SAO: Re: Hallow Fragment (finished vita version, but never touched PS4 one), SAO: Lost Song (I don't mind using the other characters, or if anyone wants to cheat grind for exp since I've already plat it), and Digimon Cyber Sleuth (need to trophy grind the online battles since I was never able to match up with anyone and it won't even match me with AI).

 
I'd love some fighters personally, I keep trying to get into Street Fighter V lately. Also have some games like Earth Defense Force and Senran Kagura I haven't really touched. Though I have a pretty big variety of games in my backlog lol

probably, since fedex and ups jacked up their prices last year, alot of places increased the limit since they dont want to eat the loss, either sign up like alot of us and pay or if you havent done their free trial before do it when its close to release to cover the free shipping then quit when you get your item

Funny how shipping companies (including USPS) have jacked up their prices recently at a time when gas prices are historically low (at least in the last 10 years). Makes you wonder how much they are going to raise rates once/if gas prices start rising again.

 
I don't think it's been posted here, but for anyone interested, Norn9 dropped to $29.99 new and $24.99 used at Gamestop. Finally something for me to spend that $10 cert on!

I am kinda disappointed.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Star Ocean V release four days apart. It's not a problem that I am buying two games four days apart. It's which one do I fuck ing play first.
