I just don't understand when people that play games beyond CoD and Madden don't see any of the reasons Metal Gear is so loved. Almost every other series I can see why people would not be into them, but even if you have issues with some aspects of Metal Gear, it's by far the series I felt most demanded respect based on everything it did over the years and how it interacted with it's fanbase. It sucks that Phantom Pain had the major issues it had, but in the end I think Kojima wrapped it up as best as he could given Konami's suicidal path, and the game is still amazing.

As far as NES Metal Gear, I get that a few people started there, but the first "real" game we got was Metal Gear Solid.

Aside from that, if you're really interested in Metal Gear and intend to play everything, start with MGS1 and play them in release order. They end up jumping back and forth in the timeline but that's how it was originally played, and even the games set earlier have references to those that are set later.

If you're desperate to play V first I'd at least play MGS3 first and I recommend playing Peace Walker too because Miller is so prominent and it builds Big Boss's character so much. Ground Zeroes is a must play or at least watch because it sets up V.

MGS 3 and 5 are more closely tied since they are prequels to Metal Gear 1, featuring Big Boss.

MGS 4 and 5 have fewer connections since 4 takes place 30 years after 5, with a different main character.

It's all tied together, but you're gonna notice more of a connection between 3 and 5 than you are 4 and 5.

Opposite. Most complaints seem to be about the byzantine plot and long cut scenes. (BTW, one of my favorite series with MGS3: Subsistence easily in my top 5).

Usually it's the other way around, especially with MGS4 because it had super long cutscenes. Gameplay has generally been top notch for the time of each game's release, though new stuff was usually attempted with each game. Peace Walker is kind of an odd duck out since it started as a PSP game.

That BF1 trailer is indeed awesome but gonna need to see some gameplay. Of course, loving EA Access to make a sound decision when it comes. :)
 
Any of you CAG dudes play slither.io? Fun little mindless game that gets pretty competitive sometimes. I feel like this thing could be really good on consoles if they fleshed it out and added some sort of progression system to it.

 
I have a question since I'm still hooked to my 360. When people play BC Games on their Xbone...is it possible for them to play with other players on the 360? =O I would assume this is the case...

I wouldn't count SOCOM as a stealth game. It's just a tactical shooter.

Stealth games are more like Metal Gear Solid, Hitman, Splinter Cell, Volume, Thief, and games like that.

MGS stands out because the story is very silly, but they tend to play it straight like the ridiculous elements are normal, serious parts of the world.

^^^^ Regarding the "season pass"... looks like for Battlefield 4, They released the standard game for $60 and then a Premium Pass for another $50, but no package deal.  A year later they released the Battlefield 4 Premium Edition for $60.  I hope they don't do that this time and release a Premium edition off the bat for $100

 
I finally got around to playing Sunset Overdrive. I had actually purchased it during a sale awhile back for roughly $19.99, and I payed it for like an hour, but then got sidetracked by another game and never went back to it. Since it was one of the GWG titles this month, I went ahead and downloaded it and on a whim a few nights back, I booted it up and started playing it again. All I can say is WOW! Just an absolutely brilliant shooter. And it just gets so much better after you have put some times into it and gotten the playing mechanics down. Once you have upgraded your abilities to the point where you can do that in the air dash...well, it just takes the game to a whole new level. It really reminds me of Jet Set Radio Future in the fact that you really need to put a good 8-10 hours in to really get the game mechanics down before the game really begins to shine, but once you do that, it really does become one of the most unique and enjoyable shooters I have played to date.

And I love the crazy characters and whacky quests. Its kinda like Saints Row in its over the top characters and story lines, but again, I for one really like those kinds of games. I know a sequel is highly unlikely but this is one game I would have loved to see a sequel for.  If you haven't played it yet and you enjoy shooters, it should be the very next game you play. If you did play it and gave up on it really early, you should go back and at least play it until you have upgraded your abilities. The game 10 hours in is just light years better then the game is during the first few hours. You really do need to get your skills up before the game really starts to shine. 

If it weren't for GWG, who knows when I would have picked this back up. So Kudos for MS for including one of its best AAA exclusives as a GWG title.

Is battlefield 4 digital worth $10 or should i wait for bf5 later this year? I am worried that getting in the game this late will mean i'll get curbstomped by veteran snipers and heli pilots

I'd say a better value is picking up EA Access and getting BF4 and BF:H premium, that way you can play on any map rotations. Can you still pick up year codes from newegg for $25? You'll save 10% off BF1 if you have access, so that's $6-10 right there (depending on dlc).

All the BF games keep a decent population even once everyone has moved on, you'll easily be finding games through xmas.

Also if he goes with EA Access he will get a 10 hour trial of the new Battlefield starting the Thursday before release date.
 
played a few games in over watch, seems pretty solid, a lot of different heros but I have been sticking with the guerrilla, will pick this up after a price drop

All these years later I still can't decide if Angelina Jolie was hot in that movie or not (not that I've ever been particularly in to her).

All these years later I still can't decide if Angelina Jolie was hot in that movie or not (not that I've ever been particularly in to her).
 
You can tell people about SSO all day, the problem is the learning curve takes a few hours and everyone is so conditioned to playing games like it's CoD that they give up too quickly when they realize they cant ADS and quickscope all day.

Good point, I've been partial to CoD and Siege for my FPS games. But bad company 2 was a blast when it was first released. When i got back on it last year when it was GwG (GFG), there were master assassins everywhere. I especially love it when the enemy team has both helis hahahahaha not.

I still rock Battlefield games with objective-comes-first attitude, but sometimes even winning doesnt make getting sniped in the kisser numerous times taste better. Sometimes.

I will prob pick up a month of ea access just to tide me over until bf5"1"

Angela Jolie is hot no matter what she is in. If your having that much trouble figuring it out....well, you might want to stop by your doctor's office at some point and have them check your testosterone levels.
