PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Nah I beat him I think. Big demon looking guy with a hammer that is kind of on a bridge?

I'm mostly running into super strong knights who take almost no damage from my attacks but beat the shit out of me with theirs.
Ah, Taurus Demon. You can climb a ladder next to the doorway leading onto that bridge once you've triggered the fight, then drop onto the boss while hitting R1 to deal massive damage via a plunge attack. You'll have to run pretty quickly, though, because he isn't slow to catch up to you once you start the fight.

Oh no sorry I beat him too. I just chopped the shit out of his crotch with an axe, for whatever reason I was too close to him for him to hit me. For me its some huge knight guys that are blocking off most my paths, underneath the fire breathing dragon area.

Also, what is Kindling? it gives you more flasks or something?

He said he beat him, he's getting his ass handed to him by the black knights.

I played both Prototype games already. 1 is terrible, but 2 was pretty fun.

Played the first Darksiders and didnt get very far. Never went back. I would try the 2nd on PS4. fuck PS3 versions though.
LOTF is terrible from the videos I have seen. Since it looks like a Souls game. Nope, never played it,
Life is Strange....eh, game sounds strange. no thanks.
Inustice...dont care about it either way.
Darksiders 2 is terrible, super boring. It's completely different from the first one.

Goat Simulator. Yuck. Easy enough 100% but that's its only redeeming quality. Of course Super Meat Boy is a GOAT (funny that somehow PlayStation gamers got it for free before Xbox gamers) but its old.

I mean, it's an OK month. More just goes to show that April was an anomaly, or more specifically a special month where they went all out to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of GwG
Glad you provided us with feed back on these 4 games. I hope everyone else does the same. I am on the edge of my seat!

First off, Kindling a fire (which costs 1 Humanity, that number to the left of your HP & stamina bars which sometimes increases when you kill certain enemies, but you otherwise increase it by using the Humanity item) increases the maximum number of flasks you can carry. At the beginning you can only kindle a bonfire once, which results in that particular bonfire always refilling your flasks to 10. Eventually you can kill a boss that gives you a key item which allows you to kindle each bonfire twice more, for a maximum of 20 flasks.

You might have noticed that the bonfire at Firelink Shrine (the hub-like area where you ended up after leaving the asylum) gives you 10 flasks while others only give you 5; that's because some bonfires are already kindled once due to a Firekeeper watching over them.

As for the knights, are they the zombie-like ones immediately under the bridge with shields? I usually let them hit my shield once then got a slash in before they could put the shield back up. Have you tried kicking (Forward + R1 simultaneously) when they have their shields up?

Did they nerf some of these boss fights in the FF X remaster? I haven't had to reload or do excessive grinding yet.

Just took down Seymour.
See, that's how you Spoiler tag. Even if the game is 10 years old.

Yeah but there's actually a reason to talk about them. The ones you dummies are commenting on are just 5 completely random games I picked out this week's sale.

Also, reasons like "no one cared then no one cares now", "no idea on this one", "Free over on xbox one", and "played already" are not good reasons why a sale is bad. Like I said to Jkam, they might not appeal to you, but there ARE some decent deals in this week's sale.

So once a fire is Kindled, it stays kindled forever? So I should be kindling fires? I have like 5 humanity items, and I've had that number up in the top left corner say 1 or 2 a couple times, but i had no fucking clue what it meant.

I liked what I played of Darksiders but it had some glitch issues when I played it on PC. Not sure why they never brought that one to PS4--I'd play it there.

I've got nuthin to stream tonight. Maybe I should buy Downwell just for something to play and stream. I can write it off as a business expense!
Wait! You mean there is nothing in this sale that you are buying? Isn't it ironic? Don't cha think?

You need gatekeeper souls to kindle a fire to have it give you more flasks, I don't know what the fuck Vig is talking about. Unless I'm remembering wrong, using humanity to kindle a fire would be super easy.

Oops, I remembered wrong, Vig is right.

That's the thing. I don't play a ton of RPGs, especially deep ones.

That being said, I think I chose the warrior class and have been putting points into strength and defense and dexterity. I am definitely a melee guy, probably won't dabble with spells at all.
Balder Knights probably, by a church? If you can run past them on the right side and take the path down you can get to a bonfire and the first blacksmith that will offer up some weapons to buy and will let you upgrade weapons to +5 which will help a lot with damage. Make sure to buy the smithing boxes from him when you can so that you can do repairs and minor weapon upgrades at any bonfire.

If you want to play more conservatively and not have to rely on timing rolls at the right time to dodge attacks, you could go with a shield and weapon. If the shield has 100% physical damage protection then you won't lose any damage blocking (unless it is an elemental attack). If you started as warrior you should already have a heater shield. Upgrading it reduces how much stamina you lose while blocking. L2 as the enemy is attacking allows you to parry the blow out of the way and then follow up with a very strong attack.

if you don't mind doing a suicide run you can poke around the graveyard next to fireshrink shrine and get some good equipment. 2 Handing the Zweihander with a minimum of 16 STR will do a lot of damage or attacking with the winged spear from behind a raised shield allows you to attack while being protected.

Darksiders 1 was awesome and the first PS3 game I beat.  I still have the disc for part 2, but will probably trade it and wait for the PS4 version to go cheap.  I don't like these reports of it being completly different though.  Thought it had a great Zelda but not quite Zelda formula going for it.

Yes, it stays Kindled forever (even through subsequent NG+ playthroughs), but you should only kindle a fire if you have Humanity to spare and/or the area seems difficult enough that you might need more flasks. As long as you're thorough in searching areas, you'll find plenty of the Humanity items, though it's good to have some on-hand because they instantly refill your health in addition to increasing that top-left number.

According to an email I just got from Atlus, the Vita demo for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will launch on 5/31.

I need to update the email address on my PSN demo account. When I initially set it up I just used my FB account address but for some reason PSN emails don't work with that anymore. There was a security change that requires that I re-activate the email and since those aren't showing up I can't hit the activation link.  Kind of odd.

I could just add the demos to my main but I really hate all that extra crap in my download list.  :headache:

For the record I agree with Tyler that there are one or two games that seem to be an okay price for anyone if they care to play those games.  That person is not me though.  But Im thankful for that anyway since I dont need to buy any new games for...well ever again really.

Speaking of forgetting games, I totally forgot Doom was sitting on my shelf. I guess I could stream that for a while. I just keep delaying my Amazon trade in for it but haven't really built up the desire to play it.

PS4 one is downloadable now according to GAF.
Vig already posted that earlier.

Play it. It's awesome.

And yeah I've been kinda surprised by how quickly Alienation got dropped in here.

I'll watch if you play on the hardest difficulty you can.

Pyromancies are a good complement to melee as they don't require any stat point allocation other than a total of 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, etc. points in attunement in order to add additional spell slots to equip them. So for 1 more point you could equip 1 pyromancy, 3 for 2, or 5 you could equip 3, and so on. Then there is just the soul cost of upgrading the pyro flame once you acquire one to increase their damage.

There are 2 forms of humanity, liquid and solid. Every time you kill an enemy it is the equivalent of obtaining a sliver of humanity eventually to the point where it adds up to a full point of liquid humanity. This is nicknamed "liquid" because it falls into your bloodstain when you die along with your souls and can be lost if you die before recovering it. Solid humanity is when you pick up the humanity item off a corpse and it is added to your inventory. Once you use the item in your inventory it is converted from solid to liquid (and the number in the corner goes up by 1) and you can use it to kindle bonfires or reverse hollowing. You have to be non-hollowed in order to summon co-op partners and to kindle bonfires. Having more liquid humanity (up to 10) also raises your item discovery which increases the likelihood of enemy loot drops.

I want to go back to it after Uncharted. Was waiting on some butt buddies of mine to play hardcore but it looks like they hate me now.
I'll definitely make a go of hardcore after I remember how to play. I might cheese it and back up my character after every couple missions though. I haven't even played the tank or biospecialist yet. I was kind of hoping they'd add more classes to the mix as time went on but I haven't heard a peep yet as far as their future plans. I hope that isn't because it did poorly.

I'll second the Pyromancy route, as that's what I used for my primarily-melee-focused (more emphasis on Dexterity vs. Strength) character, plus a longbow for long-ranged situations.

I totally forget about Alienation all the time, which is weird because it's my current PS4 theme.  But yeah I'd be down for playing that with some peeps after UC4.  I'm not very far in the game though, probably only level 4 or 5 on regular.

Mafia III is part of Best Buy's $10 promo now:
I really wanted to like this series. Played 1 for a bit but HATED the driving. Didn't get too far.

I knew I saw that Gears 4 was added to the $10 promo. Went to the actual thread for the BB $10 promo and didn't see it listed there. Even looked on BB and didn't see it.

I think I will be doing that now instead of buying it digitally. I have some concerns about the game and don't want to be stuck with it forever. If I like it I can always trade it and get most of my money back and just buy the digital version like I did with Destiny.

Maybe we can figure out how the hell level scaling works. Early on I joined up with a group that was 3 or 4 levels above me and it felt like I was throwing uncooked macaroni at the aliens. I can't believe they wouldn't have some sort of equalizing mechanic though so hopefully it's just that they had the difficulty way up or something.

I am sure it shows its age now, but I loved Mafia 2 when I played it. The trailer makes the new one look like it will have an interesting story. I am looking forward to playing it.

Hopefully it is OK that was not 5 paragraphs since I actually played it. It was about 5 years and 600 games ago (just like SWTFU) though.

Mafia 2 was fun and worth a play and I will probably pre order it now since its $10 at BB.  but Mafia 2 is so devoid of anything to do other than the main story missions that it was kind of strange.  After years of GTA and other games like it and all the side missions Mafia 2's word was very bland.

Thank god for guides too otherwise no one would ever find those Playboy mags in that game.  They gave you no incentive to explore other than trying to find those mags in a game world the size of Montana!

In one of their pre release hyyyyppeeee videos they mentioned DLC and other classes I thought. I would imagine they will add more eventually. If they dont the game will fade even faster than their others. Dead Nation had no customization but it had double the levels or so it seems.

Alienation is a super solid game, but there are a few minor annoyances that made me less enthusiastic about playing more. I think it was Zimm who mentioned it, but fuck the ammo clip size in this game. I have to reload after every one and a quarter alien killed. Not fun. And like Mild said, if you end up in a game 1 or two levels behind other layers prepare to be useless.
