Baseball! And football's not bad.
You should be watching the College World Series if you already aren't. The first four games over the weekend we're all really good.

- Oklahoma St. starter extended his scoreless innings streak to 27+ in a 1-0 win over The Gauchos.
- Arizona put up a three spot in the first to beat Miami 5-1; once the Miami starter settled down, the pitching on both sides was really good.
- TCU hits a 3-run homer in the top of the ninth, and holds on to beat Texas Tech 5-3.
- Coastal Carolina upsets the top seeded Gator's 2-1 in a fantastic game last night.

Miami vs UCSB in the first elimination game at 2p today.

I'm liking Hatsune Miku but it really blows that the chance note can only be hit by swiping the touch screen. After a fast-paced ton of notes using the keys, having to move a finger to the screen quickly and unexpectedly trips me up on some songs.  :wall:

This is partly why I prefer playing those games on console, where you just have to flick either analog stick for those notes.

Beat Steamworld Heist. Great game. Normal might have been a little too easy as I never outright failed a mission and 3 starred almost all of them on my first try. I'll take a break before playing it more but hopefully new game plus lets you start on a higher difficulty (and still counts towards the trophies).

Rhythm games just fit mobile so well, though. 3-4 minute chunks of gameplay is pretty ideal for that.

So far the others I've played on Vita are P4D and IA/VT. I didn't much like the style of P4D and IA/VT's visual style was confusing at times. IA/VT has the best songs of the three so far. Due to comments in here I was expecting Hatsune Miku to be a huge pain in the ass but it's not bad so far aside from the occasional unexpected scratch note. Usually those come in a series at the beginning or give you a short pause between notes to get ready for them, so the chance kinda sucks. It's especially annoying when you nail the chance time and then miss the golden star. I do like Hatsune Miku's treatment of the singers--IA/VT often had nobody on screen, just weird geometric crap that loses the dancing/singing component, which is a fun part of these games. IA/VT was definitely harder on normal, too.

Anyway, it's good so far.

I never hated LeBron, just didn't care for the annointing of him before he did anything considered to be among the greats in history. He never had that Jordan or Magic Johnson moment or series while winning a championship. Him winning it down 3-1 and playing so well changes that.

I wish he had hit the game winning 3 pointer though.
He actually bricked about 4 shots before Kyrie hit that 3 pointer. There was like a 4 minute stretch at the end where nobody scored. Thoroughly exciting basketball!

Normal was way too easy. Played on Veteran after about the 4th mission and was really happy I did. Failed about 5 or 10 total missions. It's a great game.

New game + will let you choose your difficulty again. For the trophies, you can't just go back and beat levels on other difficulties though, it only determines the trophy based on the lowest difficulty level you ever played. I adjusted a level to casual (don't remember exactly why) during my playthrough and all I got was the casual trophy at the end, even though most my game was on Veteran. And I couldn't go back and beat the casual levels on veteran to get the trophy, I would have had to start all over.

The hats are really fun. Have you got any of the hat related trophies? I wanted to grind for the South Park and Indie ones but it would have just been to random to be fun.

Basketball is the only exciting sport. Every other sport has long lulls between action and the only action takes place in 5-10 second segments.

Yeah I saw the lowest difficulty thing at the end. So if I played New Game plus entirely on Veteran or Elite do you know if I would get those trophies? Or does it recognize my original playthorugh on normal? Once I found out hats don't do anything I played almost 0 attention to them. I looked over the few known combinations for the trophies and had 3 military hats for the one, but I'm not really trying to seek out specific ones.

Hey you want to invest in a game you could lose your money. Just like the real world. I dont feel sorry for anyone that gave them $300.

I've funded kickstarters and have had good luck mostly. I had a card games I funded that ended up being terrible, but they produced the product. I didn't get all pissy that they made a game I didn't end up liking. I paid my money and I took my chances. Not a big deal.

at least you didn't back mighty no 9. :(

Hockey isn't bad, but there's still too much skating back and forth fruitlessly, like soccer but not quite as bad. And hockey goals mostly seem to be random, so a few notches down for that.
They may seem random, but there's lots of skill involved in redirecting a shot from the point or setting up that perfect pass to get the goalie out of position.Yes some are random, but I'd say the majority go where they're meant to go.

They just need to make the goal bigger in hockey and then it would be more fun to watch. But I don't dislike hockey. I watched some of the stanley cup. Partly I'm just bitter that it's all on cable.

Basketball is at the other extreme. There's almost too much scoring. How many dunks can you watch per game before it all gets to be Tyler's favorite word?

Hockey is a bunch of back and forth movement but little to no scoring. I almost did put that in as an exception though.
You don't necessarily need scoring for it to be exciting. I know this sounds like the blanket soccer argument, but there are a lot more scoring opportunities/shots on goal in hockey than soccer. Plus a smaller field of play. Some of the most exciting plays are some of the amazing saves that goalies pull out of their asses.

I get its not for everyone, though.

I will agree with this. I actually just started liking hockey about a year ago. So okay, you win, hockey and basketball are the only exciting sports.

I was only able to register for 2 of the 3 classes I was aiming for this coming semester which kinda sucks. The good news is that I won't have to quit video games for that semester as I should have plenty of free time now.

It's too bad Mighty No. 9 didn't look more like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UXDiQrgI6M
I remember when they first posted that, I thought that it had potential. I think they opted for the 'more crappy' look because they listened to backers who wanted it to essentially look like megaman 2.

Which you only realize happened through instant replay. There's a reason those goals have red lights on them, no one tell what's going on (save vs score) without them. Hockey is nice, but too fast. Too much passing and what looks like random skating around in circles.

In basketball and baseball it's more about the law of averages, take enough shots, or swing enough times and you're bound to hit something eventually.

The reason I like football is because each play is important, you're trying to gain 10 yards (theoretically) every time.

What is that game? Why should I be pressured into buying it?
A vs multiplayer only resident evil arena type game with an apparently low budget and a giant crowbar. it looks stupid fun and awful at the same time.

edit - looks like no one is carrying the retail code-in-a-box version of umbrella corps in the US, so no 20% off either.
