This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

So it does, either way heres the relevant clips:

AMD’s Radeon RX 480 draws an average of 164W, which exceeds the company's target TDP. And it gets worse. The load distribution works out in a way that has the card draw 86W through the motherboard’s PCIe slot. Not only does this exceed the 75W ceiling we typically associate with a 16-lane slot, but that 75W limit covers several rails combined and not just this one interface.

....

However, the audio subsystems on cheaper platforms will have a hard time dealing with them. This means that the "you can hear what you see" effect will be in full force during load changes; activities like scrolling may very well result in audible artifacts.

...

Believe it or not, the situation gets even worse. AMD's Radeon RX 480 draws 90W through the motherboard’s PCIe slot during our stress test. This is a full 20 percent above the limit.
To be clear, your motherboard isn't going to catch fire. But standards exist for a reason. All of the components around the PCIe slot and along the path from the slot to the 24-pin ATX connector will suffer from the peaks. And depending on your platform's design, audio problems may also materialize.
That's a fair concern, but it's not the doomsday "draws all the power from your PCI slot your mobo will explode!" Also, some other cards draw so much more power that even with the external connections, I think they'll be reaching similar territory from the PCI slot.

Anyone know a place to get discounted Steam gift cards so I can buy more games I won't be playing until I shake this 7 Days to Die addiction I have?

Not right now, i think BB had them before but to be honest you might be better off trolling the cesspool to see if anyone has a lot of card money they are willing to sell at a discount. I got some games for 25% off doing that.

Best Buy had a buy one get one 20% off deal last week. I dunno if its still ongoing, but typically no, there are not a lot of places to get discounted wallet cards at all. Target has had similar deals in the past, but its not often.

all this video card talk!
It's like the good old days.

If that's Nuveem's final list of prices I'll be definitely biting on Tales of Symphonia. 75% off in addition to the currency conversion discount? lowest price ever.

I'll be the devil's advocate.

8 GB VRAM is nice, but I think as time goes on, the card's power will be more limiting than the 4 GB VRAM in the regular version, particularly with a lot of these AAA console ports.

The 8 GB version is 25% more than the 4 GB version, so you're losing some of the bang-for-the-buck factor. At $200 the RX 480 is an excellent value. I'd rather save the $50 and upgrade 25% sooner.

I suppose discussing a $200 video card is closer to "cheapass gaming" than 90% of the conversation here.
And yet somehow all I ever hear in my head when I try to read those video card posts is

fuck topic, I want to be entertained or even offended or disgusted. Anything but bored.

Yeah you go ahead and try that and see how it goes and report back. :p

There are a lot of good prices in that Nuuvem list... especially for the Dark Souls 2 stuff, but all of that is pretty much locked.

Hm. I do have a friend in Brazil, though. I haven't spoken to him in a while, not since I quit MobyGames... wonder if he'll be able to help me out.

Here's the same Nuuvem sale list, but I added Murican prices and removed that dumb banner so you can sort by price and discount.

And I put the packs on a separate tab. Best thing on there is the Dracula's Origins Pack, which includes Lords of Shadow 1 + 2 + all DLC + Mirror of Fate HD for about $8.50 Paypal.

FWIW Dark Souls 2 is region locked to activate, not region locked to play. Meaning if the idea of temporarily vpning on Steam just long enough to activate it doesn't completely make you shit your pants then once you do that you can play it from your normal region without issue.

Or so I heard. My, uh, brother bought it on Putingate and told me so. I would never do such thing myself but you know how my brother is!

I took Blade's version of the spreadsheet and filtered it to display only those items that we can actually buy from Nuuvem in the US. Linky

According to SteamDB, DS2 Original does not have a South America version, just ROW, Asia, and RU/CIS. Likewise with DS2 Redux. I'm fine getting the original DS2 with season pass and buying the upgrade to DS2 Redux using my illegally farmed card money..

My brother got his Scholar Edition for $6.11 but he didn't use illegal Mexican migrant card farming, he smuggled it out from behind the digital iron curtain by way of Sweden.

Not sure who's shade is shadier.

Thats basically double dipping though. Scholar of the First Sin includes all the SP content. You should just get that alone and not even bother with the original/season pass.

Those achievements, though. :p

And I'd rather spend more of my real money on other cheap Nuuvem games.

Is there more there you can buy from Mexico though? Because there ain't a lot there for Muricans (or the English and the Europeans to hear Reddit tell it) these days.

My wife was recently talking about using her dual citizenship to open a bank account in Peru and I got all excited about being able to use it to buy from Nuuvem

How safe is nuuvem? I know you guys been using for a long time, doesn't steam games check what region the key is from?
No one uses Nuuvem much any more. The keys are fine if you take a moment or two to check Steamdb and see what's region locked, but they now check to make sure your payment method is from a S. American account. So you go to pay via Paypal, it sees that your Paypal is linked to a US account and bounces you.

Dark Souls is locked here. Most stuff is nowadays, but there's one or two things that aren't. I just have to check the list, make sure to add it to my cart, and when the sale flips, buy it before they lock it down.

Thats about the only kind of game that usually works for us Yanks with Nuuvem (indies) typically they're no hassle to get on Nuuvem and are rarely locked. Last one I got on there was Superhot and it was very easy to purchase.

Well, for an indie (as Archbishopthedoge points out) you might as well try it. Worst that happens is they say "Nope". It's not as though they throw you in Nuuvem jail or anything and even if (they won't) they banned your account, who cares? You can't use them anyway.

Ironically, shortly before they began Paypal locking, they opened a US storefront for their site. But most of the shit from their nominal US storefront was still locked anyway. Go figure. Looking now, I guess they dropped the pretense of a US storefront and it's back to all Brazilian.

Devolver Digital? Nope, you're not going to be able to buy it! Devolver locks EVERYTHING on Nuuvem. You're going to need a VPN at the minimum.

Yeah, just looked and Enter the Gungeon says "Not available in your country" but I didn't check for a real region lock.  You'll need a VPN at least though.

It wasn't PayPal locked when I bought it a few months ago, but it did need a VPN up until payment.
