Just my opinion but this seems a lot for 2 old games and one kind of old game. I have all of them on 360 with the good single player DLC so I've already payed a decent amount for all these games.

Also on a tangent I don't really consider $48 with GCU as a deal, I consider that more "I want to get this game on day 1 so I'll go to BBY to get it a few bucks cheaper".

If this had been $40 I'd have a decision to make, at $60 I'll wait for a significant sale.

That's discounting the fact that these were supposed to be coming to BC, is that going to happen now ?

I don't know maybe it will, but if not that's kind of shitty and I don't want to reward it.

IMO, not if you've already played through them once like I assume most people on here have. Obviously, people will have different interest levels and price tolerances but for me it's too much.

I've played through all of them at least once and I'm willing to jump back in in full remastered glory for only $48. They're amazing games. As long as the remaster is smooth I'm game.

I'm in on this (maybe not day 1 though, depends what else I'm playing at the time). I've never played any Bioshock games, but I did purchase Infinite like 4 years ago I think? It was on sale on the marketplace for like $8

Plus... all 3 games are on sale on the marketplace for $70, and an additional $50+ for all of the DLC. $48 sounds like a deal

 
Glad to hear the Bioshock Collection is confirmed to run at 1080p/60fps on consoles.

2K has put a lot of effort into the Bioshock 1 & 2 Remasters.  I will gladly pay $60 to own them digitally on Xbox One.

Gotta say, though, that I'm a little disappointed at not having Bioshock 2 multiplayer.

I dont know about Bioshock 1 and 2 but Infinite has been a game with gold before.

When Microsoft announced that all games with gold will be backwards compatible, did they mention that past games with gold games would become backwards compatible eventually?

 
I think it's pretty shitty that they don't mention if there are any technical upgrades to this collection. This could be bare minimum effort like that Prototype collection.

That could leave the door open for these to literally be the 360 versions like Rare Replay has, though presumably actually on the disc instead of downloaded separately to save space. I doubt this though.

 
Very happy to hear the Bioshock collection isn't far off. I'll probably end up grabbing that day 1 as those games are some of my favorites ever.

I still remember the day the Bioshock demo came out and trying it for the first time and just the overwhelming, and at the time groundbreaking sense of immersion you immediately feel because of the amazing atmosphere. I imagine the game would be pretty amazing in VR so hopefully the remasters take advantage of that

Whoop, you'd think they would put that in the official press release. I still don't see how they put a lot of effort in though. Upping resolution and framerate on such old games isn't particularly complicated. New textures or models would be a lot.

The documentary stuff is the real effort I see here, and I'm sure a lot of people don't ever bother with those kinds of things.

Physical games are already BC, but the console will always ask you to download the full game and then install it on your disc , then the CD becomes your license to play the game

I'm excited but if these games aren't completely redone from the ground up and wind up just being uprezzed ports with 60fps framerates then I may completely pass.
 
On paper, they release games "when they're ready," but yeah, looks like they are getting into a pattern over the last 3 weeks.

I kind of like how they just come out whenever, but I guess as long as they keep doing them at all I'm not gonna complain.

I'm excited for the Bioshock Remaster. I bought my 360 when Halo Reach came out so I played Bioshock Infinite but never played Bioshock or Bioshock 2 even though I own both games on 360 right now. I missed a lot of early 360 games.

The local pawn shop as the GOTY version of Fallout New Vegas :360: but it's missing the game disc (Disc 1).  Is there a chance in heck that only having Disc 2 is enough to get it to work on my :xb1:?

I'm actually pretty sure that it will. I seem to recall people reporting it let them play with disc 2 in.

You may need to borrow a copy from GS to install the base game, although I'm not sure on that.

I think a majority of it comes down to publishers being willing to sign off on them. EA is the only big publisher that seems to be heavily interested in BC, and that's obviously because of EA Access. The large amount of re-releases, even just the thought of doing them, has the be the number one reason. The top 100 are even more likely to be affected by this mentality, as things like CoD4 Remaster and Skyrim Special Edition were probably partially created because of the obvious demand. The second factor that makes this angle slightly more understandable is PS4's lack of any BC, if you get an old game as a bonus on Xbox and nothing on PS4, that surely upsets Sony, and customers who would prefer to play it on the opposite system.

I think emulation issues are relatively low, probably an issue but semi-minor. Bigger hurdles were the multi-disc games, and licensing issues.

I don't think the pace is bad, people are expecting too much in my opinion. 360 BC is far beyond where Xbox Prime emulation ended. They're clearly putting games out as fast as possible, as it seems we're getting weekly releases at a minimum now. If they wanted to be perceived better I guess they could space out big games more evenly, but putting them out when they're done is better for us.
