Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Meh. I know what to expect, I've "played" previous DOAX's. I'm sure this is all about the same, just with a slightly better coat of paint, and no nude mods...

Quite a mix of games. The first looks like a dating game with a supposedly innovative system, where you have enormous freedom of who you want to spend your time with. 2nd is a highly regarded boys love title. 3rd is an otome game (though i'll play since it looks cute!). 4th is a newish (2016) Circus title! Yay! Da Capo 3 is pretty much translated and edited so I'm very happy for that and this. This game looks excellent. The last game is a Clockup game, and looks quite graphic. After playing Euphoria, I think i'll pass on that one.

So really 2 games I'll get for sure and a 3rd i'll likely pick up.....good job Mangagamer. I hope Sekai Project has some good announcements, though MG is #1 in my book for both prioritizing the adult versions to release the same day when a Steam version comes out (Still waiting on Labyrinth of Grisaia........18+ baby!) and for their high quality of translations and good release schedule. I applaud thee and am as a giddy as a schoolgirl. What can I say, I love visual novels.

Also SoniComi from Jast USA is very likely coming out soon physically. If you are pre-ordering that, may be a good time to get the physical pre-order in. I know I only order during sales and right before they come out.

So has anybody actually gotten their ZTD from Amazon? I got the email Wednesday talking about the delay about the watch, giving me $10 and stating that they'd ship the game to me. They have yet to do that. The game is apparently in stock if I want to order another copy for some dumb reason. I dunno wtf is the hold up.

I received an email earlier this week saying that my copy should arrive on 7/6.

It appears to be two sides to the story. Askys says Amazon has some games, and should be getting more, and that they will ship the games alone as they arrive. Then you have Amazon, who appears to be waiting for the watches, to ship it all together, so who knows?

I got my GS games yesterday, as I have a Vita and 3DS copy, but now in the GS system, it only shows my order as being for one watch bundle, and not two, so here is another area where I have no idea what will happen.

I messaged them yesterday, as I hate calling them, but the last message I sent them during the holidays took just about 3 month for a reply, so I'm not hopeful one way or another.

It seems pretty fuck up that Askys is selling watches at a premium price, when ZERO orders have been fulfilled for paying customers, that's just bad business. I can only imagine how many customers will end up getting screwed out of this item, so until they have made sure everyone who ordered gets one, they shouldn't be selling a single one, but that's my opinion.

 
I contacted Amazon yesterday to remove the GC balance from my order seeing as it apparently wasnt going to be shipping for a month or more, and the rep told me that he was unable to due to the order being in some sort of advanced shipping status, and that it would be shipping very shortly.

Then again, he said they would contact me with more info that same day regarding a delivery date, and I still have yet to hear anything nor have any estimated date.

Amazon CS while awesome on one hand, is complete BS on the other. Their CS for me, is about the same as their packaging, as they run about 50% on both for me, and that is not an exaggeration.

I have been told that my items would be shipped in a box on several occasions, and it didn't happen once. It ends up working out in my favor in the end, as they make promises they know they will never keep, so when I call them on it, they always make it good in some way, shape, or form.

As far as these watches go, I'm just waiting, as trying to contact Amazon, or GS is more than likely going to render bogus information either way. If my watches don't arrive, I'll just be returning these orders, and letting Askys know in the end, as that's all I can do.

I got on chat to see what the holdup was. The guy obviously didn't know anything and it took some convincing that although my order was for the watch edition, they were supposed to ship me the standard first. In the end the guy just told me to make a new order for the standard edition(I chose same day delivery so got it yesterday night) and he put a "note" on the order saying to refund me after the watch ships. But really I wonder if the next rep I talk to is going to take the note seriously and is gonna give me a hard time about the refund.

I also asked about clearing the gc from the order. Advanced shipping status is bullshit. They just can't do it. My status hadn't changed. I asked the guy if it had to do with billing or payment types and he just said it's not possible from their end. It's really stupid 'cause you used to be able to do it from the order page from what I gather. But now once you apply a gc to an order, it's locked to it.

Amazon CS has gone rapidly downhill for me this past year. Just recently brought One Piece Burning Blood's CE, and never received the pre-order DLC (Along with a lot of other people, who somehow ended up receiving it later). Contacted them over and over, still nada. To this day I never received that DLC despite a good 4+ reps promising me I would receive it. And before that I had them refusing to adjust the price of the Overwatch CE when it dropped pre-release, and some other issues with missing pre-order DLC and horrible packaging.

I have had a few who I'm sure could barely understand or speak english, and others who were just lazy as shit. (Like the night I got transferred a good 10+ times in the same chat, only to get disconnected by the last rep)

Probably gonna start shopping more at Best Buy once my last batch of pre-orders release, especially now that Gamestop doesnt sell Amazon GC's anymore.

EDIT: And to Motaku, lol I figured that was the case. I'd prefer they tell me the damn truth instead of lying to my face and having me contact them again later wondering why I havent received any more info

Yeah I hadn't shopped at amazon for a long time but now I'm ordering as much as I can while I'm on a prime trial. And every time I have to contact their rep, it feels like I have to repeat myself 3 times before they understand what I'm saying.

When I was trying to do the odin sphere price adjustment(to get 20% off), I got transferred 5 times and the last rep said they couldn't do anything and said they'll have someone from the "prime dept" email me later. Naturally I got on chat again a few hours later, spoke to a different guy and had the problem resolved in 5 minutes.

Picked up my pre-order for Zero Time Dilemma last Thursday.  Paid in full, still was gutted.  :(

Missed the watch on both Amazon and Gamestop.  Oh well that's what I get for not pre-ordering sooner than I did, some time last year in July.

At this point, I wouldn't mind having a damaged watch.  I suppose it is better to have the game now, rather than later.

The box says "Day One Edition" on the front cover and inside is a small paper slip with a PSN code on it.

EDIT: Also, to anybody interested in watching some speed running (many of which are Japanese games), Summer Games Done Quick 2016 started earlier today and lasts until Saturday. Game schedule/playlist here. Tetris Grandmaster is often a highlight and apparently Super Mario Maker was pretty good during AGDQ. TASBlock can also be fun to watch a game be completely broken and Super Metroid (Save vs Kill the Animals based on donations) is frequently a highlight too as 4 people go head to head.

I've been tempted to play the game myself just to see how bad Star Ocean 5 is. A cool CAG helped me get a CE (never ordering from the SE store again) and I'm wondering if I should crack that sucker open, or keep it in its wrap.

Nice, we're getting PC too. Sad it's not the eX+ version. Kind of weird to see Aksys name tied to a Falcom game, but hopefully their translation is solid. Though I guess based on their visual novels it should be pretty good? I also hope they're able to use some PS4 assets for the PC version so it's using decent resolution textures/images like XSeed did with Trails in the Sky if it's necessary.

(Come on Ys VIII on PC!)

EDIT: I suppose it will be interesting to see if Aksys will dub like XSeed does or keep the JP VA.
