Eat more pizza... I'm quickly dying.

You guys need to just google the papa johns coupons and click on the link, has all the deals on there. A lot of times there are some non-advertised vouchers/deals that blow the promos on the site as well as the advertised (i.e. sports promotions) deals out of the water. At the very least you can typically get half off without seeing if your local team scored 5 runs and won the game on a triple with two outs while the third baseman picked his nose
Getting even father off topic that reminds me of one of the longest running promotions the Royals have... The Sonic Slam Inning. In a nutshell the big prize is $25,000 but to get it the Royals have to hit a grand slam in the 6th inning. (and only the sixth inning.) But the one additional added clause is a real headscratcher as the chances of it ever happening are extremely slim.

The home run has to clear the wall... aka no inside the park grand slams count. As far as I can tell the last time an inside the park grand slam happened in the majors was 1999, which is getting kind of close to two decades ago. That's induces every team, every inning, etc.

Every night I hear that clause I can only think to myself that an inside the park grand slam should be worth 50K.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering (which I know your not) we've had two Sonic Slam winners... One back in 2004 and one back in 2013.

I got a similar story. Two years ago PJ, for some reason, decided that they needed to make a special code for when the Royals just win the game (I think they did that around mid season and the Royals were playing respectable ball) and we rode that code all the way to the world series....

So much so we only buy pizza when its half off anymore. lol

GAME TALK

Anyone who has fawn memories of CoD 4 Modern Warfare I must warn you do not watch any of the remastered trailers/game play... It looks really well done. (And its really too damn expensive.)

I really want the remastered version of MW. It was the best modern CoD game imo. No way I am buying the Legacy version of Infinite Warfare to get it though. Would be tempted to fakey it if they released it alone but Activision gonna Activision.

the forum is empty. The dev has deleted every post regarding the key deactivation. There were a bunch of ppl reporting about dupe keys and he admitted to de-activate them. Now those posts are gone too. Look like the game forum is heavily moderated.

update: contacted IG and got a reply. IG told me to contact dev directly to replace the key. Keeping my fingers crossed.

There's some speculation that Activision will release it separately at some point... because Activision is going to Activation the other way at some point. Max your money on Infinite Warfare and then comeback and get the rest of it.

I do think CoD4RM multiplayer will be around for a real long time so not much rush needed on that part... and at least the remaster isn't in some limited time/production run of Infinite Warfare.

Side Note: It just never really dawned on me how stupid the name Infinite Warfare is till I had to type it twice...

Another "deal:"

EVGA 950 GTX 2 GB + Free Game $90 AR

At Newegg.  You get the voucher for either Dead by Daylight or Hard Reset Redux

Again, don't know anything about GFX cards or VRAM, but this could be a decent budget card.

PC World review on 2GB GTX 950:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2973512/components-graphics/nvidia-geforce-gtx-950-review-bringing-more-oomph-to-budget-gaming-pcs.html

By comparison, many games on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 struggle to hit 30fps at 1080p—and that's typically with lower graphics fidelity than the High settings in PC titles!

You'll need to step up to a $200 GTX 960 or R9 380 if you want to consistently enable Ultra graphics or hit 60fps in most games at 1080p, however.

Bottom line: The Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 delivers a nice 1080p gaming experience at a price that won’t break your budget. Nvidia has a clear winner here.
EDIT:

Not bad for $90 from retail for a 900p/1080p card for 30FPS/60FPS (depends per game) aiming for "Normal" settings on new games, TBH. Surely, this beats the $150 launch price it had.

The thing MysterD worries about is the lack of VRAM - it only has 2GB worth of it. If there was more (i.e. like say 3GB, 3.5GB, or even 4GB), MysterD would say it's a great deal for a budget card. The lack of VRAM here in 950 with only 2GB will give you less wiggle room for higher textures + settings.

Let's face it: some games just are poor ports, got too much going on, are huge-open worlds, and/or are VRAM hogs no matter what anyways - so you might want more VRAM straight-up. There are other games that will go over that 2GB easy at Higher settings @ 1080p.

But, if you're buying this card - you're likely going for 1080p 30FPS/60FPS (depends per game) and aren't aiming to Very High to Ultra on new stuff; though you might get that on a little bit older games (i.e. Bioshock Infinite). If you don't mind 900p - or hell, 720p if you're happy with that - I'd bet you could go with a lower-resolution (than 1080p) + are fine with that, then do it just so you could boost performance w/ more frames and/or boost-up some settings/details. Anyone looking to go for any of that route - sounds like it'll do fine for you.

For anyone on a budget and a "for now" band-aid, seems like it'll do okay for you...for now. Even more so true, if you like to use programs limit + cap framerates (i.e. MSI Afterburner); programs to suspend off programs/services running in the background (i.e. GameBooster or Razer Cortex, anyone?); and are okay with "Normal" settings in newer games. Tweak the most out of your games + system, if you possibly can, you know?

Anyone wanting real future in your card (i.e. you might want 1440p or above) and want to jump in the mid-range and/or enthusiast club - eh, you might want to go after a 6GB GTX 1060, 8GB GTX 1070, or above. Those will likely have some longevity to them.

Instead of talking Pizza, everyone should play Pizza Express. You can make your own Domino's but ran by a cat (or make one of those fancy snob pizza places, but who would want to do that?)

I see a QNIX QX2710 model 1440p monitor for $220 on Newegg.

Anyone have one? Any experience with it?

Anyone know much about this monitor?

Or know anything of much on QNIX stuff?

Anybody have experience with ultrawide monitors? Seem sort of cool.
I have an ultrawide 34" Dell. At the 34" size they work well. Most games don't have an issue with it but I do rarely run into one that I have to mess with. As far as browsers I use two windows side by side and that works really well. Basically like having two smaller monitors without the bezel between them. One negative is backlight bleed. They all have it, some are worse than others. I doubt I would buy a 29" ultrawide or a 1080p ultrawide. You wouldn't have enough vertical space. Also, If you were to go ultrawide I might consider a 24" beside it in portrait mode. I wasn't sure that would work well but it does. Especially if you ever read comics or manga at your computer.

Tom's Hardware gives the 950 their recommendation in the $150 category. Certainly you'd be better off, dollar for dollar, if you went into the $200s with one of the new cards but if your budget is $150 and you want/need a card now it's the best of the lot.

No personal experience, but I actually decided not to go ultrawide monitor because a friend I play online with has one and I hear him bitch about it making some game unplayable at least 5 times a year
Yeah, I've heard they can not work for certain games.

Never heard of that brand or monitor myself.

I don't think I could do a 34'' given the space limitations. The monitor would have to be max 16'' tall with stand so only some 29'' ones would work with that. Technically a 34'' would work if I could use it without a stand or if there was a stand that added no height to the monitor.

Seems like a good budget card then. I'm not in the market for one, but it's probably in the price range I'd be looking at.

Yea 950 at $90 is a good price if you need a card that will probably run on most dell/hp PCs without a PSU upgrade.
That's a good point. Prebuilt with one of these would be a cheap way to get gaming going.

On a related note, "Insert Name Here's Mom: The Game" is free to play for the moment:

Hmmm, wonder if it's any good. With BF1 coming out, I wonder if all other WWI games will get lost in the shuffle.

QNIX is one of the Korean brands which all tend to share the same Samsung/LG panels.

You might have some dead pixels but otherwise the image quality should be great. If dead pixels bother you, you can usually find "Perfect Pixel" listings on eBay for a slight premium, where they supposedly check for them.

However, you might consider going for something like a Monoprice 27" 1440p (which has been $249 multiple times) for better quality control.

Also keep in mind that these cheaper monitors usually come with pretty mediocre stands, so if you need tilt/height/pivot and that sort of thing, maybe look elsewhere.

I haven't played very many HOGs, but Nightmares from the Deep 3 is best because it doesn't make you replay the whole game to do all the alternate mah-jong games to get all the trophi...(sorry, my inner consoletard was coming out) achievements, you only have to do 3.

QNIX is a korean brand that uses good panels with cheaper electronics and limited ports. Where Dell or similar gets the A+ panels they buy the ones a tier lower than that is my understanding. Any issues you get are usually minor.

As far as the 34" ultrawide. My dell is 16.25" high with the stand at minimum height.

That actually would squeeze by my set up by like 1/8'' but I don't think I have Dell money. I'd probably be looking at the lower tier stuff like LG and their stands tend to bump them up past the threshold.

While we're talking about peripheral parts, I'm reorganizing my computers and desk this weekend and I'm tired of putting my two headphones over my left/right speakers. Does anyone have some suggestions for other ways to store headphones on or around a desk area? I feel out of touch with what the cool kids are doing these days.

I use these:

https://www.amazon.com/Stick-on-Headphone-Hooks-2-Pack/dp/B00P9GYUE2

You can stick anywhere, but I have them on the side of my desk. Two on each side. Stick on with 3M strips that come with them. Other alternatives are like headphone stands that go on your desk, but those take up desk real estate, or a wall thing which you could buy like a coat hanger thing or hooks on the wall.

Excellent, that's kind of what I had in mind. I'll have to check those out, thanks for the link.
