My input on frames, frames only matter when you have to 1 frame punish window opening in fighting games

Every other game does not need frames, you're not leaving any for the fighting games they cost tons of money.

Looks like Digital Homicide is doing big giveaways for whatever remaining keys they have.  If you wanted to get something you missed.

Proud to say that I don't have any DH games in my library and I'm not about to tarnish it now.

After years of resistance, I finally caved and created a Twitter account just so I could get a copy of Paranormal Psychosis.

This has got to be the low point in my life.

Eh, I dunno - it's nice to be able to see your game running at 80-120FPS frames uncapped, but Doom 2016 felt too fast for me at those framerates. [shrug]

Maybe I need a 120hz monitor, 144hz monitor or something to properly deal w/ higher framerates like that. I dunno. It's not the biggest of my worries right now.

I'm fine w/ 60FPS solid with 1080p @ Ultra here. I wish every game both look + ran as great as Doom 2016 with Vulkan.

More VRAM is NOT like having more Framerates. The more you have of one of those (framerates), it just ain't going to matter once you get to a certain point.

Having "more framerates" won't be that useful, once you get to a certain point. I can understand people debating say 30FPS, 60FPS, and even maybe 120FPS - but I personally don't think say 300-400 frames will be very playable. It'll just be too fast and unplayable. It won't be good for your graphics card's lifespan, either - you'll burn it out. You're likely going to cap it somewhere and/or throw VSync On, at some point.

More VRAM will be useful - especially for having more buffer-space open for things like throwing it up to higher resolutions (i.e. 2K/1440p or 4K) & throwing on more graphics features.

Well I finally finished Homefront: The Revolution.  25 hours but I tried to do as much as possible along the way.  Towards the end I sort of just wanted to power through especially after one thing glitched so I knew I couldn't get certain achievements.  I enjoyed it a lot and probably will play the original now.  Main gripe is probably that some of the best scenes in the game are just rushed through in cut scenes.  I just sit there watching thinking "I really would have liked to play that part."  Not sure why they decided to do that.  Looking forward to any DLC they release and to doing some co-op eventually.

I watched that video and I gather you are trying to say it is well optimized? I think I have stricter standards than this guy in the video. I probably averaged 59 fps but I cannot stand frame drops and he seemed to not mind them. Also his minimums were off as he would state that a min was like 67 or something but just watching the video you could see the fps counter dipping into the 40's.

If someone is fine with that then great, but I personally need a solid frame rate so while I average high 50's I would rather have a rock solid 30.
The game seems to be well optimized to me. II never dropped below 60 FPS except for cut scenes that seem to run at 30 FPS no matter what. I would say my average was/is 70 something. (I did have to tab out at one point because it seemed like the game was locked up (it wasn't, the FPS count kept fluctuating,) but I think the game had issues with my high frame rate and the next cut scene. As soon as I tabbed out it started running fine.

As for the whole drops and what not.. I'm not one to notice them it seems. I did lock Horizon in at 60 just to see if I did. I didn't really notice anything. I'll keep it locked and experiment on my weekend.

You might not want to buy any Gears of War 4 keys, they are not legit and might get revoked. Not Newegg this time tho.
Well, your warning came a bit late for me... Looks like I'll be in the "wait and see" line.

They're Nvidia codes so they'll probably just deactivate the nvidia codes but not remove the game from your account. Sucks for anyone that bought a code though, the process to get one is simple but very shady. It's already hit Reddit so I might as well post the link here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GameTrade/comments/549mfp/psa_gears_of_war_4_nvidia_promo/

Or more detailed instructions:

1. Use credit card generator

2. Order valid GPU that includes promo

3. Code is sent to your email and order is automatically cancelled.

Anyway, I'm not condoning using this exploit, but posting it in case anyone wants to know where the codes are coming from.

Yeah, the whole thing is really shady.

Even I wouldn't feel right selling any of these codes, anyone who sold them is a real piece of shit and I feel bad for anyone who got suckered.

The risk for getting one for yourself though is minimal, for what it's worth.

It seems that performance is pretty varied depending on users. I've seen quite a lot state everything is fine and then lots having performance like I do ( the Arstechnica and Eurogamer articles are almost exactly how I feel ). It isn't horrible and isn't impacting my enjoyment, just wish it was solid 60.

Yeah, selling em is low as low can get. Theres a dude on Steamgifts selling them and advertising them as glitched codes. Basically saying, take the risk for 4 CSGO keys lol. At least he's honest? Theres a slew of them on there now.

the risk is better for you if you buy it from Ebay. If code got revoke on Oct 11th, you can do a charge back. Them CSGO keys offer you no protection.
Why would you even go through that much hassle? Anyone can create an Amazon account and "buy" the graphics card, regardless of shipping or anything else. Code is automatically delivered as soon as you place the order. Just get it for free directly from Amazon.

Just finished the original Homefront.  That was quick.  If you want to feel accomplished and have 4-6 hours to kill on a weekend, Homefront is your game.

It's crazy to think Revolution and this are in the same series given how much better Revolution is. Homefront is just sort of your run of the mill shooter.  Guns don't feel particularly great, short story, glitches abound.  It's really frustratingly hard in places too.  Like repeat the same mission 10-20x.  The only thing is that there are elements of Homefront that are really great.  The vehicle missions and some of the story missions are honestly better than anything in Revolution.  I really wish they could combine the two.  Refine the missions in Homefront, add them into the open-world of Revolution.  It'd be really good.  I really loved Revolution because of the guns and shooting, but the gameplay was just repetitive throughout. You can't say the same about Homefront.

Anyway, not saying it's a great game, but I certainly didn't feel like I wasted my time.

Seasonal Preorder Update: Gears of War 4 PC, Xbone and hopefully a glitch for everyone.

But will be 99% revoked. :(
Just tested it, I used my legit cc card and everything and just cancel my order as "Price is too high" they sent the code right away before it was even ship.

Seen that on neogaf and decided to see if it was true.

Funny thing is I was about to rebuy the GTX 1070 without my case and other stuff just to get gears of war 4.

The real question is, is it worth taking that risk for the 1% chance to tell someone "y no wen free" in the future?
But what if its:

0.1% change of Amazon charging you $60 for game

0.9% chance of "y no wen free"

:p

Now you can wait for next promo game to rebuy GTX 1070 :p

I'm naturally opposed to vehicle missions in my FPS games so that was a strike against Homefront for me. They always feel tacked on and if I wanted to play a driving game, I'd be playing a driving game. Or they put you in a turret on defense and you're essentially doing a FPS without the benefit of mobility on your part.

To say something nice, as I recall the box store shootout in Homefront was pretty cool and something like that in Revolution would have been nice. Revolution is easily the superior game but one of the trade-offs of its semi-open world nature is that the building interiors are all pretty generic and uninspiring.

If Amazon charges for a $60 so many people can complain and say they were buying a gtx 1070 and cancel for a lower price which I honestly was doing originally anyway.

I got a $50 BB card that I'm going to use anyway.

Now where is my Dead Rising 4 promotion for the GTX 1070?

Not even for free?

The only problem I've have with the window store's game apps is keeping the Xbox App open.

You have to keep the xbox live app while having the game open.

Which is awful if you have only one screen, honestly this makes GFWL look tons better.

I can see that, but I felt that with Homefront, it was almost half the game was either turret on the hummer or helicopter so I felt it was a focus of the game. Plus I am sort of partial to those old arcade shooters without the movement/mobility. I liked the targeting they added with the Goliath too. Really enjoyed the sneak/sniper stage too in Homefront.

I think Revolution would just benefit from more variety in the missions. It added it little by little in each new zone, but it just felt like they added one new element per zone and then the rest of strikezones were the same so it was like 14/15 repetitive things and 1 new/cool thing. Granted, Homefront was super short so it's easier to have variety there.

Anyway, Revolution is clearly the better game by so much. I think I just felt a little annoyed by those few cut scenes where I wanted to actually play instead of watch and it felt like in Homefront you actually played those parts.

I was reading on neogaf all the codes been disable even people that bought one.
This is the first time I ever caught Nvidia promo so I'm glad I went to redeem it.

Now let's see if we get to keep the game, I'm already downloading it.
You arent technically "downloading" it. You get to download a small file that is a few MB

Reddit leaks of new Steam Store (v7)

 -----------------------------------------------------------

This just went live on Steamworks forums, copy-pasting here. What do you guys think?

We wanted to let you know about some upcoming improvements we're working on for the Steam Store and what it might mean for your game.
When we launched the Steam Discovery Update, we introduced a new and smarter Steam store built around personalization and recommendations. In the time since the Discovery Update, we've iterated on the features and made improvements to support the goal of helping each customer find the titles they are most likely to enjoy playing. We think our progress in this direction has been really valuable in supporting a broader variety of gaming experiences big and small, while better serving individual customer tastes.
We've got another set of changes in the works to continue along this path. All this is subject to change to some degree in response to your feedback and suggestions, but here are the general highlights of this upcoming update:

Home Page Visual Refresh.
The Steam home page will be getting a visual refresh to use bigger game images in some places, add some new ways of surfacing games, and remove some visual clutter.

Additional Left Column Navigation.
The left column of navigation on the home page will be getting a new section of links to main destinations such as new releases, top sellers, recently updated, upcoming releases, and specials. When logged in, there will also be links to sections for you such as popular among friends, recommendations by curators you follow, and your discovery queue.

Friends Activity.
We're adding a prominent new 'Popular Among Friends' section right to the home page that will highlight what your friends have been buying and playing.

Top Selling New Releases.
We're adding a new section to the home page for new releases that have reached the top sellers list.

Global Customer Preferences.
We're adding some new options for users to specify their preferences for which product types they wish to see across the entire home page, rather than managing each section individually. This will let customers opt to exclude particular types of products, such as Early Access, Software, Videos, and VR from appearing on their Steam home page and on a couple other browse pages.

Targeted Visibility For New Releases.
We'll be making some changes to the initial launch visibility of new titles to better reach appropriate customers. While we previously granted 1M impressions of each new titles on the home page, this approach was not scaling well and was an inefficient method for reaching the right potential customers. Click-through rates for most titles featured in this section were low, and it had become clear that not every new release is relevant to every user. We think we can do better.
With the upcoming changes, newly released titles will appear in a few different ways on the "New on Steam" page and in the "New on Steam" Queue. The goal is to reach a more engaged group of customers, and drive more relevant traffic directly to your store page. This change should result in your title appearing to a smaller, but better targeted group of potential customers based on their preferences and tastes. New releases will continue to be recommended to specific users on the Steam Home page and can appear in popular lists if doing well.

Targeted Visibility For Game Updates.
Update Visibility Rounds will be changed to show your game to a better targeted group of customers. While Update Rounds previously caused a game to appear for 500,000 impressions on the home page, we found this method to be too broad for effectively reaching interested customers. We'll be changing this system to instead show the game to a more targeted group of customers. This will include your existing customers, users with the game on their wishlist, and other customers that Steam recommends the game to. This visibility will continue to be on the Steam home page and may show your title for up to a week in this spot.

More Steam Curator Options.
We've noticed that more than a few Steam Curators are using the curator feature to provide valuable information about games, while not necessarily recommending the title. We're going to give Steam Curators the tools to indicate whether their post is recommended, not recommended, or simply informational. This helps us better understand whether a curation should be used to promote a game on the front page of Steam, or if it's intended to be informational that should primarily appear on the individual product page.

Curators in Main Capsule.
The Main Capsule banner will be updated to include titles recommended by Steam Curators that users follow. This means we can better surface appropriate titles to individual users based on who they follow and trust to make recommendations.

Improved Steam Curator Presence.
When following one or more Steam Curators, users will see a specific section on the home page that highlights recent recommendations. This space can include popular new releases or smaller niche titles depending on which curators the user is following. This section is being improved to show off the games in a better way. Additionally, we're creating a new landing page to highlight many of the titles recommended by all the Curators the user follows.
We're actively working on this set of features, and planning to roll out the update in a few weeks. We're looking for your feedback on these changes and your suggestions for how we can best connect your game with the customers most likely to enjoy it.
