I gave the long winded MysterD (no offense) type rant in TheHangOut probably why Motoki (I have minimized the random shet chat) left but tl;dr I have a kid now and trying to juggle family time, work and gaming was getting crazy so decided to trim the fat and go with the platform I have the most games so Steam FTW.

P.S. So I will only game on PC in a while so how do you guys refer to console players for informational purposes only?
Dude it'd be a lot more complicated to get rid of the kid...gotta ditch 3 consoles vs. 1 kid. Mathematically speaking you made the difficult choice there.

I prefer pissants, but that's because I myself was a pissant until very recently so I'm really trying to distance myself from those scum.

meanwhile, look for me on PS4 (TotallyBreakfast) if you want to play some Destiny!

With the way Bethesda goes, that might be another 5-10 years...
I think it's a few years away based off of comments they've made, but I'd be surprised if it isn't out before the end of the decade. Skyrim was released in 2011, to think that they haven't made substantial progress on the next title would be a shock...unless they're considering their mmo as being an elder scrolls entry and haven't really bothered making headway on the next title. That being said my concern is what ES6 will turn out to be based off of FO4...I really hope they don't go in that direction (further leveling streamilining, ARPG like loot drops, voiced protagonist, focus on dumb things like that building component, etc). Things are fine the way they are, stop trying to toss in things people don't want. Just improve the combat and graphics a bit, and focus on improving quest design. Maybe throw in some of the choices/conseqeuences Morrowind had. Fallout 4 was fun but the negatives were really disheartening if reflective of what Bethesda's long term path will be w/FO and ES. FO4 was probably my least favorite open world Bethesda game from morrowind on, which says a lot considering how improved its combat is of any of the other titles.

I gave up on MysterD and just put him on ignore last week. I commend those who keep on trying.
Not sure if you're reading this since you got me on iggy and all - but don't forget to take me out of your signature, too.

Upcoming Events:

Week of September 19th: DOOM w/ special guest bro MysterD, The Crew, Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies

Well...that was Zenimax Online that made ESO, not Bethesda, IIRC. I hope they ain't counting ESO as an entry; they didn't develop it.

Well, quest-design isn't the only thing Bethesda needs to improve on - b/c story-telling, narrative, dialogue, and writing needs to improve - and of course, it took Obsidian with FO: New Vegas to really expose the living hell out of that.

Also, I'd be really happy right now if Obsidian would do another Fallout game b/t FO4 & FO5 to show Bethesda how all that stuff should really be done.

Yeah, all that'd be great, but it's not my first priority when it comes to a Bethesda game. It seemed they really tried to write a good story in FO4 and it flopped, I jsut don't think they're capable of it. Quest design has gone progressively downhill fast from Oblivion on, if they could return to Oblivion level creativity/quality I'd be happy

And TBH, I can't recall really the last Bethesda game with actual really good questing. Maybe FO3? Even then, Obsidian still put them to shame w/ FO: NV.

Skyrim was a great game - but even then, I did notice a lot of the questing was starting to lean more towards quantity and not as much on the quality side. Though, I will give props to the Dark Brotherhood + any of the Guilds' quest-lines in there.

But, yeah - in terms of actual questing in the ES series, Oblivion is probably King for Bethesda there. Also, I really loved the Shivering Isles' setting, as well. Though, Morrowind probably had one of my favorite settings that BethSoft's used in their ES games. The base-game's settings in both Oblivion + Skyrim are nowhere as interesting & as different as Morrowind's.

Can't say I've seen too many people including trolls that actually want to be ignored/avoided actively.

Is everything okay there buddy? Do we need to put you on suicide watch?

FO3's quests were pretty good for the most part. I'd say Oblivion was better but FO3 was fine. Skyrim was okay but you could see the trend that was happening, it was a marked downgrade (dark brotherhood was the most disappointing part of the game, saved it for last based off of Oblivion's and it was just a let down, thieve's guild was alright but in comparison to oblivion it was again, hugely disappointing). Fallout 4's quests were mostly dull and just thoroughly not engaging as a whole. I'm racking my brain and can think of 2 quests in the base game that stand out (uss constitution and silver shroud), everything else just blends together in a pot of "go here murder that push this button/retrieve this thing" soup. Compare it to something like Oblivion, which is loaded w/memorable quests (going into the painting to kill trolls, the grand heist in the thieves guild, whodunnit, anvil haunted house, getting stranded at sea on the boat, getting trapped on the island/most dangerous game). Bethesda used to design some really creative and interesting quests, now everything is just "yo go kill stuff in this random dungeon just because." It's just amazing how seemingly lazy bethesda has gotten in that aspect of their games.

Everything's just fine; thanks for asking. :)

I've got way too many games (don't we all here?); TV + movies to watch; and other things to do in this lifetime - so, you don't have to worry about anything of that sort.

I dont think their settings mean what they think they mean. MSAA in any sane game is a huge GPU/FPS suck, and I noticed no change at all in FPS going from MSAA 8x to off. Something is wrong in their settings

I only got to play the intro race last night, pretty game, but I was getting the occasional hitching which is jarring. Its not an fps drop though since I had the meter up and there was no change
Just tried the game out on my PC and I'm having the same hitching. I'm getting about 40fps at Ultra/1440p but the hitches happen every few seconds. The fps stays solid but everything just slows down for about a second. Definitely sucks, because the game looks and plays great when it's not hitching. But it hitches constantly. I just hope they fix it soon otherwise I'll have to play on my Bone.

try completely disabling MSAA if you still have it turned on. It mostly went away for me with it off, same fps as before, but less hitching. Then again maybe I just got lucky since I turned it off, who knows

Also it seems like the game likes to randomly turn back on 60fps lock, which may have been another reason it went away as I just discovered

Also if you wanna add me my nick on xbox is the same as here

Yeah, "Silver Shroud" was definitely a stand-out. "Human Error" for me is one of the other stand-out quests in the game, as well.

I have not done the "USS Constitution" quest yet.

But, yeah - Bethesda's questing is certainly not what it used to be; I definitely agree w/ you on that.

One of my favorite quests in Oblivion was the one in the village of "Split", in which you had duplicates of everyone there - trying to decide which side of the town to side with.

There's been some discussion lately about whether Blues and Bullets has been canceled.

Dev says they're going through hard times, while there are rumors that the studio has actually shut down.
Shame, if true, game looked interesting but learned already about buying episode games (namely, it takes forever to get the full game).

There's always a risk unless what you're buying is published by Telltale or Square Enix. Those are the only episodic games I'll buy. I don't know why other devs even try, it's a failed business model if you don't have the kind of support needed.

Keys for the Pit People beta are being sent out if you were accepted.
Yeah, I got in so I'll try it out and see if it's any good.

Brodate:

We tried to play Brutal Legend last night, but I personally thought the MP was awful and quit after 30 minutes, which is rare since I usually try to stick things through to the end. It wasn't the genre, even though I'm admittedly not a RTS fan, it was just frustrating and not fun to me. The game mechanics were hard to figure out and either I sucked or some classes were overpowered. Reminded me of Savage Resurrection except I started to somewhat enjoy that game eventually.

We switched to Screencheat which is frustrating fun and then Rocket League where my screenshot is proof of my dominance and where this bot named Trey was really good.

I took a screenshot of Fox staring at a wall in screencheat. Apparently he thought it was the best strategy, cuz no one could see where he was.. that only lasted a few seconds though, I killed him shortly after. I won't post the screenshot that I totally didn't forget to take so that I won't embarrass Fox.

Someone should report that Trey bot to the Rocket League dev. He's way too OP.

My performance has been all over the place if I try to keep it at 60 fps. Eurogamer just published an article stating that from their gatherings it is a literal crapshoot at any given time what your performance will be. They state that MSAA makes them hitch and lowers FPS dramatically whereas I turned off MSAA and was averaging around 42 fps and then bumped up MSAA to 4x and now I'm at 60 95% of the time. Makes no sense, it is like pushing the settings past a certain threshold made the game more optimized. Who the hell knows.
Someone suggested turning off Core 0 and I do feel that helped some of the shuttering I was experience when something needed to pop up on screen. (Note: This won't work on i5s)

As for my crashing in Surfer's Paradise I'm about to give this a try.

I actually used the wall staring technique (which works) for most of the game in one shot mode. You only killed me once my gun was reloaded and I turned from the wall to try to find someone to kill.

Edit:

And with the new Homefront TR DLC available, I have two concerns.

1. $5.99 DLC for a $24.99 Season Pass? So the other DLCs will not be $5.99 I assume or that would be a screw over.

2. SP says you are supposed to get a bonus crate every week for Resistance, how do I go about getting mine? Did not notice anything when I was playing with Syntax the other day.

If its anything like the rift support, and I assume it will be, it is pretty impressive but the last time I tried it it had alot of menu/control issues. Nothing in the menus and the initial starting 'tutorial' lined up so it was very hard just to get out of the survival pod. Once you manage that though its pretty impressive. Subnautica can really be one of those must-have VR titles if they worked out their few issues

So just keep that in mind when it launches, may be fiddly starting out, of course you can always get through the start of the game with the HMD off

Season Pass content is supposed to be sort of like FO4's -- a couple small missions followed up by a big mission/small expansion in 2017. So I assume they'll be priced something like $6, $6 and $15 making the Season Pass slightly more affordable or $6, $6, $12 with the benefit of the Season Pass being the extra Resistance mode stuff (couple perk backgrounds, weekly crate, etc)

The crate should be in the regular crate purchase menu and is called something like "Weekly supply crate" for $0. I saw it the once and opened it (and it indeed had supplies: consumables maybe some weapon parts) so I know it exists. Sure you didn't open it and forget? Or look for it the next time you play.

If anyone was in the Rocket League Alpha, then you are likely sitting on a goldmine. I was in it and it gave this ugly as fuck gold hat as a bonus. Well now that stuff is tradable, and the thing is selling for big amounts. I sold one last night for $200. The one thing that's a pain is that its in game trading so you have to be really careful of potential scams. I found a buyer who was willing to go first and had feedback (the fact I have high feedback on multiple places helped), so obviously aim for that if you're diving in this pool. I had no idea til I looked here https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueExchange/ and saw what things are going for. I got my first crate drop and was looking around to see if the dev is ever going to allow marketability/tradability and discovered the Exchange then. Tradability is live now inside the game itself, but no word on marketability so every thing is user to user at the moment.

If you were in the beta (I wasnt) there is a slightly less valuable "golden nugget" that was given as the bonus for being in it and its not selling for as much as the hat, but its still going to get you a nice chunk of change. I saw one go in a thread less than 24 hours ago for 50 keys.

If you've opened any crates (I havent) be sure to take a look and see what your drops from it may be worth. Things like decals and especially cars seem to fetch a lot at the moment.

Valves greatest genius was discovering that people were willing to pay for random "rare" digital items and creating the Steam marketplace for it.

No wonder they stopped making games. Why make Half-Life 3 and make gamers angry that its "not the best game of their dreams" (like No Man Sky situation) when you can make millions from digital pictures that take way less work? (And have other devs make those digital items for you and profit share it from the Marketplace)

The thought of these digital items (and my steam account) also makes me think of what happens to these account when someone passes on.

I imagine my executor reading my will:

..."And to my children, I give my them my Steam account "Voken" and all its games, over 500 cards, and items including 20 TF2 buds, Dota 2 legendaries, and Rocket League Alpha gold hat. Use it well"

"To my nephew, I give you both my Desura & Groupees account. You were always my least favorite."

you were in the alpha and you are still almost Weiler bad at the game, what the hell?

I was going to get drunk and play FH3 this weekend but it sounds like MS has already done all the work of simulating a drunk driving experience without the need to further damage my vital organs.

Initial reports of the first Homefront DLC are that it's a sack of possum dicks.  Really short (like 30min short), very linear.  It takes place in a subway tunnel so it's basically a very short Metro but without the monsters or Russian angst.

I'll still play it and hope the other two come out better than this one but I'm glad that the Season Pass version was just a couple bucks extra from the base.
