So my friend just pre-ordered Gears 4

He isn't in the preview program but I am, but it's not letting me install Gears 4

Anyone know what the problem is? Do I have to wait until the game comes out or should he cancel and do it on the site

I was under the impression that I, being the one in the preview program was the only one who had to buy stuff on xbox.com for us to both get it

 
Ugh...the Ezio Collection.

It still hurts that its a half-arsed 30fps release with minimal graphical improvements and a $60 price tag.

I could've spent $40 if this was 60fps with revamped lighting and better textures.

My bro got frustrated and ended just getting the Ultimate Edition lol.  I still have the game already downloaded but instead of "buy this.." it says "way too early..." now because we game share.

Is everyone getting this "Operations Gear Pack" for Gears 4 in their XBL messages? Kind of made me wonder if the MS store still thinks I have a valid pre-order.
 
Well I'm downloading hexic, feeding frenzy 2 and heavy weapon. I definitely didn't pay for any of those. I don't have ea access, either.

I know at one point years ago I downloaded demos for them on my 360. That's really all I can think of.

That Gears stream was the biggest crock of shit ever. Every code entered caused errors. Supposed to be 90 codes, 1 per minute. They stopped showing codes with a 30 minutes left in the stream.

Anyone else have a bunch old 360 Pop Cap Games show up in their "Ready to download" que on their Xbox One? A guy on the CAG Facebook mentioned it and sure enough some games I don't think I ever bought are in my que. I'm not sure if these were free Games with Gold games I forgot about or if this is a real glitch.

 
Got those games too. A couple of them I owned on disc but they downloaded digitally. Most I didn't even own. I don't think it's a glitch I think they were given away for some reason. Odd that they haven't said anything officially.

 
Hmm, the store page for these games says "You can play this game for now or buy it to own forever". Is that normally on GWG or EA Access? I have Assassin's Creed installed already and Baseball's store page is giving me an error.

They have been available all day, you'd think EA/Popcap would have made some kind announcement about it by now if it was a promotion of some kind.

 
Strange, that's what it states during a free play time period like they did for Overwatch, Halo 5 and NBA 2k16, etc.  Can't imagine they are doing a free play days for those old 360 games to boost sales.

 
Looking on the app shows I purchased those games on 1/15/16 which I certainly wouldn't have paid for them.

I'm hoping everything stays normal and I can play WWE2K next week. My work got cancelled tonight and we're working Sunday instead.

Gears of War 4 is sitting at an 85 so far on Meracritic, must be a good one! Seems to be getting praise from all over. IGN 9.2, Polygon 9.0, GameInformer 9.25, then a lot of 80's but I think a few places do a 5 pt scale so it's 4/5 and not an 80.

Anyway, with this being an 85 and Forza Horizon 3 being a 91, Xbox is killing it this Fall.

Edit: just tried to play Feeding Frenzy this morning. Looks like all those free games got revoked.

Metacritic scores mean nothing. I mean, look at Gears 3. It's sitting at a 91 on Metacritic. Microsoft most likely paid off 50% of those 'critics' for a high score. All I've heard from actual gamers that have played it is that the MP is pretty much the same old MP and that the campaign is pretty lackluster. But we'll see soon enough I guess.

Gears 3 is one of the best games from last gen, certainly worthy of the 91 rating, and the rest of your post is conjecture. "Well I'VE heard..." who cares what you heard, have YOU played it yet is all that matters. Personally, I HEARD that Ryse: Son Of Rome sucked dick, but luckily I think for myself and ended up absolutely loving it.
 
I haven't played Gears 3 but Metacritic scores absolutely mean a lot. For many people it helps them decide on the price point they will pick up a game at. Generally a low score game will drop in price quicker than something that was critically received. The user score does mean nothing, I agree with that.

For me a score below 70 makes me read reviews before I buy something to make sure there is nothing game breaking or so annoying that I know I wouldn't enjoy it.

When you look at a metacritic score if you really want to find the true score I would remove the 3 lowest scores and the 3 highest scores and then you probably have a decent average from the non fanboy or hater sites.

I know the fad is to say screw the metacritic score but I don't listen to the internet trolls, cuz why would you?

I use FiveThirtyEight.com for most of my political updates too because data is the key to everything.

I agree, it was a solid game and I'm not a huge shooter fan. The Gears games have always been stand out (except maybe Judgement). You do not have to be receiving kickbacks to see that. That whole "paid" argument is the absolute least convincing argument one could make - not unlike other conspiracy theorists that want to believe something despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Digital Foundry has a video up of it and notes how well it performs and looks, which is a key factor for the game.

Gears 3 multiplayer shook things up a lot I thought, I really enjoyed the overall game too, tons of features. I will say don't always agree with metacritic scores though, Lord of the Rings: War In The North has a 61 for Xbox 360, and it was one of my favorite co-op games to play in the past like 5+ years. Me and my friend had a blast with that game. Then I replayed it with my sister and brother and it was just as fun.

Yeah, paid reviews are completely bogus except the possibility of some bribing some Youtubers, but even then, publishers aren't going to risk the potential problems. I do think there is inherent issues in the industry with the chumminess of industry people and reviewers and i'm sure those relationships do come into play. I'm also sure that expectations for a game and other marketing, etc. have some affect on reviews. That being said, Gears of War 3 is hard to argue against for being a great game based on its actual merits.
