I'm going to go ahead and preorder GOW at Best Buy. I'll trade it in for CoD:IW and use the $20 from FH3 and GoW4 and not pay much. I'll be pretty well done with those games by the time CoD comes out, anyway.

Tomb Raider 20th anniversary dlc actually looks pretty awesome. Don't have endurance mode, but will consider it now that it's going to be coop

I started it last night. Played for almost 2 hours. Seems awesome so far to me.

I shot a dude in the nuts, and he actually reached down to grab them in pain. So then I shot him in the head.

The story is rich, lots of characters and detail. The shooting is satisfying. Driving seems fine so far. And the soundtrack is great. The graphics are really nice too. (I own both consoles and IDGAF about 900p v 1080p.)

I did encounter a couple of small bugs - but no game breaking issues, just a couple of odd/janky animations.

See that sounds great but I've come to realize most open world games run thin for me after the first handful of hours, especially since I'm kind of a completionist and I know I'm gonna be grinding the game out for a while. I still have Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 in my backlog for that reason.

Let me know if that same amount of excitement maintains itself later next week, interested to see if it can hold up with extended playtime.

+1 on this. I am loving my time with Mafia III so far. Put in about four hours so far and enjoying the story. The soundtrack is great!

I second all this. Some minor issues here and there but the story is really nice and I'm enjoying the gameplay. One thing I dislike is I'm not able to use grenades/molotovs for some reason. Maybe it's me not knowing what buttons to hit but it says in my weapons wheel I have 2/2 (and won't allow me to buy more from the arms dealer) but I can't seem to figure out how to use them. Anybody have a suggestion? Is it a bug?

There are actually a good bit of RPG elements to this game in that it lets you run rackets and make money. I'm very early on in the game so I don't know if there is a lot to use that money on later in the game (for example in GTA5 and Online you can buy property/businesses/vehicles/weapons/etc) but for this game I haven't figured that out yet. Is it something that will last years? Probably not, but I think it's a decent game for what it is. Plus I got the Deluxe so I'll be getting the DLC as well throughout the year.

I only meant for MP, I don't want story spoilers. Since classic Anya and Dom (sort of) are in their I figured the original versions of some characters might be.

Ok so there are no other original versions of characters. There characters from other games but not in original attire. I won't say who cause I don't know if that would be spoiling any thing.

Also I'm just going to start hoarding my coins that are used to buy packs and wait until they release more weapon and character skins. You can tell they are going to drop more just because everything that came with the game has launch series under it. Not very much good stuff right now.

That's what happened with CoD. They started having sales on the crates and then they introduced stuff that was much cooler than the original outfits... probably a good plan - especially if you got some of the Tostitos/Rockstar stuff to look a little different already...

The dlc stuff is good, I'm really digging the Vintage Reyna from GS. Haven't seen anybody with it yet, will probably change once Tuesday comes around.

They're a couple good base skins imo but they're the rarest most expensive ones and there are less than a handful that I would use. I'm just glad I at least pulled one gnasher skin I like (pink bubbles gnasher). That will definitely hold me off for a while.

Ah, I get the impression this means Gears 1-3 characters may be options but as aged versions if they're still alive, like we know about Marcus and Cole from the trailers. I'll see if she's there as 50ish year old or something once I play through, I'd be happy with that too.
If there is no Sam, I'll probably try out Kait, or maybe stick to Anya. I play as women in most games, but especially Gears since I never liked the bulky designs of the guys all that much.

Just like me lol. I only use female characters in Gears also. The guys just feel heavy and slow. Sam was my girl on GoW3 too,
now it's Reyna and Kait . There's a cool Anya skin too, when you get the game you'll know which I'm talking about (not the Tomorrow one, that's cool too. Very Unchartedish)

My wife always asks me why I use female characters - hell - why not? I'd rather watch a hot female walking around for 20 hours than some ugly dude. In Sunset Overdrive, my girl wore a bikini the whole game. :)

Ditto. I know it's been said before, but if I'm gonna stare at someone's ass all day, I'd rather it be a woman, ya know? I justify it by giving them all dark hair like my wife and naming them after her.
 
I'm the same way. If I'm gonna look at a character for hours on end it's gonna be a hot woman. The only exception would be if there's romance involved. Not gonna be a woman romancing some dude. Heck even in forza horizon 3 I picked the driver that liked most like my wife and selected her name from the choices.
 
I've gotta say, I really miss having unlockable stuff for progressing in Gears 4 MP. The leveling seems useless now except for achievements. Grinding it out for credits to use to buy a chest to get a randomized character or weapon skin is lame. Not to mention the unlockable launch character variants are pretty stupid anyway. I won't go into the specifics for fear of spoiling something, but they could dig out some older lesser-known characters instead of "#GrrrMondays JD," "Forgot-To-Shower-Today Oscar" and "Toga Reyna". It's like all the stupid unlockable baby characters in the later Mario Kart games.

I have yet to play Horde mode and I don't know if I'll ever get around to trying it, but I keep hearing mixed stories on the Horde paywall. Some say it's nearly unplayable without spending money, others say you unlock credits so quickly in Horde that spending money is totally unnecessary.
