Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I Just reached 2500 points on my Bing search counter just now and an offer popped up saying I can redeem $5 Windows card for just 2500 points and once I clicked and redeemed it, the offer was gone. So just a heads up.
I'm still a few days away from getting to 2,500. Forgot that Rewards deal for 2,017 points for buying anything on the Microsoft Store ended on the 20th. I didn't see anything that set a lower limit, wonder if that would've worked when buying just $1 XBL credit.

See? I'm not alone in liking more than one team.
I do that, too, but only because for a few decades my Cardinals would be pretty much out of playoff contention by week 7 so I had to find another team to root for each year.

You jump between Carolina and Atlanta? Sir, you are not a Panthers fan.

PS: Go Tar Heels
It's fairly common because the Falcons were the default "local" team in the southeast until the Panthers were formed and to some degree when the Oilers moved to Tennessee, although a lot of Tennesseans are big Indy fans since that's where there special boy Peyton went. Now they are split between rooting for the old team and the new one that is closer.

Just don't even respond to it. Folks love headlines more than the truth. Which is why Russia hacked the election and Pizzagate is fake news.

I can't wait for MvC 3. I suck at the game, but it's a nice time killer
Anyone who says the Russians "hacked the election" is clueless. They hacked the DNC and slowly released incriminating emails in a long term campaign to damage Clinton. It was well done and clearly affected (or affirmed) people's views on Clinton and thus affected the election and Russia got their preferred candidate. And this comes from someone who doesn't like Clinton.

Meanwhile, in baseball news, both Andy Marte and Yordano Ventura died in separate car accidents. Crazy.
And both in the Dominican Republic where Ventura's friend, Taveras, another MLB player dies last year.

Accept no other alternative facts, there are 1.5 million games coming out this week. Period.

1/27 - Doodle God: Ultimate Edition - $9.99
1/27 - Subterrain - $13.59
1/27 - The Sun and Moon - $6.29
The list I saw was only around 400k and only half as many as the previous week's.

The Patriots have been disciplined for cheating, so by definition they are cheaters. Cheating and bending the rules is so common in the NFL that anyone who isn't biased against the Patriots would dismiss that being the reason for their success. Two weeks after the "deflated balls" were discovered Brady torched the best defense in the NFL for the greatest 4th quarter in super bowl history. The "cheating" it's only magnified when the dominant team in the league is involved.
Can't speak for others, but for me, it's a bias against cheaters and the Patriots are the cream of the crop there. Is Brady the best QB ever? Is Bill the best coach ever? Maybe, but I don't know because who knows how much cheating has played a role in their ability to win. Frankly, it's sad, disgusting and disappointing. I could have been witnessing some of the best in football history. Cheaters cheat because they feel they can't win without cheating, winners go out and beat the man lined up in front of them. And it is magnified because they are the most dominant team, possibly because of the cheating.

As far as the fans go it's not really the trash talking as they aren't as bad as Cowboys and Steelers fans, it's the mentality of the world's against the Pats like only they get punished for cheating because of who they are and ESPN hates them (which is really laughable) and it's the entitlement they apparently feel that they should win it all every year without needing to play because they are special.

The emails that were leaked by WikiLeaks were provided by Seth Rich, not the Russians. Nice try at fake news though.

You're going to trust Wikileaks and Julian Assange vs the CIA? Actually, that was meant to be sarcasm, but I'm not sure which of those is trustworthy. Anyway, Reince Priebus agreed it was the Russians on Fox News Sunday as did many on both sides of the aisle, investigators say the Russians left a signature mark behind, Priebus can't stop shouting it's the DNC's fault for not protecting their data versus hackers when the FBI warned then and the guy who supposedly leaked the emails ends up murdered. You know like a cold war KGB patsy.

Hmm, I wonder what triggers that 50% discount. On Friday morning, they emailed that offer to my main account which has a 7000ish point balance. Over the weekend, I raised secondary account pass the 2.5k threshold in hopes of getting the same deal, but got no love.

People should be concerned, it's just the biased nature of only releasing info on Hillary when there may have been just as damning evidence on Trump that they didn't release. On the other hand the media loved to focus on everything Trump has done and minimize everything with Hillary so they were both given a boost in different ways. I just wish we could do the election over, that the DNC would not screw over Bernie and he could be elected so we have someone who is actually invested in helping all people in office.

Sad to say, but there's dirt on almost everyone. And Trump has had its "scandals" too, let's not act like he was better treated by the media.

As an italian, I've seen this happening before. When the judges started to leak Berlusconi's wiretaps, he blamed the "communists judges and journalists", and tried to push for justice reforms. Trust me, if Hillary had won, she would've done the same against Wikileaks and such, maybe even worse than what Trump has been saying about "msm". And she had much more dirt to hide than him.

You have more elections in 2 years, right? Let Trump work those 2 years and if he's as bad as you think, protest, vote Democrats and let Trump fail.

I'd love to hear my president talk about how they will work for Italy, but instead they keep talking about how we need to help everyone else. Like we were doing good enough to care about others first... our youth's unemployment rate is 40%. lol.

GwG announcement today or tomorrow? Anyone hear any scuttlebutt?
It's usually on tuesdays or thursdays, I'd bet on tomorrow.

Additionally there was nothing really in those leaked emails anyway. The DNC didn't like Bernie Sanders. He wasn't/isn't even a Democrat.

Just like the RNC didn't like Trump and almost all of them bailed on him at one point or another. Bernie would have lost even more biggly to Trump IMO. He was too far left. Even after she adopted his whole platform and he told Bernie bots to vote for her many still voted independent or for Trump or didn't bother to vote at all. Have you seen how many morons who want Obamacare repealed but think they are covered by the ACA?

I saw that there were a bunch of new posts in this thread last night. And then I remembered the AFC/NFC championship games were on and figured that was the majority of the content.

Confirmed.

Hoping for some good GWG announcements like the rest of you. Between that and date night tonight, there's the potential for some epic disappointments this week.

Kinda random, but does anybody else's local library offer games? I've been able to play Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Until Dawn and some other pretty good stuff for free. My town is only like 6,000 peeps, too, so I'm surprised they're even offered.

I appreciate that you added "IMO" since there's no data to support that conclusion whatsoever. Bernie polled very well against Trump in the primaries and he wouldn't have had the dirt against him that Hillary did with the emails and Wall St. speeches. People who just wanted "change" (I love how everyone always wants change but never considers what form the change will take- happens in both parties) would have had another option.

Too many people vote their party and don't care. It is almost as bad as console wars.
I see where you're coming from, but if you feel strongly on certain issues it's hard not to feel tethered to a certain party. For me, I can never see myself voting R unless the party modernizes their stance on social issues. I would love to have two (or more!) viable candidates to choose from, but until the right stops rejecting science and trying to legislate morals, I can't entertain the notion. I know some on the right feel the same way when it comes to issues like abortion.

The console wars are actually even worse, since there's little real reason to be loyal to one over another. At the same time, a lot of people end up owning multiple consoles, so maybe they're not as bad as political disputes. I wish that there was more nuance in political conversations but I think social media, etc. has made people dig in more and more into their respective camps and removed the middle ground that can make such conversations fruitful.

Really, you could take all the football talk here and sub in politicians' names or party names and it would be about the same. That's basically the way we do political discourse now in the US. With football, it's fine - football is for fun and in some ways, it's fun to unabashedly support one team and hate others - but with politics, it's a little troubling. Especially when it's pretty debatable that the leaders in either major party actually give two turds about most of us.

Wow, that's pretty good. Have previous XB1 bundles included season passes? I don't think they have, but then again I haven't needed to buy an Xbox One in four years, so I haven't really been paying attention.

The only one I'm aware of is the 2TB GoW4 bundle coming with GoW4 UE.

Dem bunduru's gonna be great for Brack Friday... course, by then I'll probably have my eyes locked on dat Scorpio.

Thank you mods for cleaning up the thread, unfortunately after I skimmed through 3 pages of back and forth "he's cheater/no he's just the best evar!" It's weird to me that you guys don't come here to talk about PSVR and sales at Target, which are at least tangentially related, but sports or politics are on every page...

To me, at least political talk on very current events are topical and hard to ignore or to at least have heard about, particularly major events like a presidential election. But the moment the sports talk begins, my eyes roll into my head and I feel like a zombie. I'm sure there's an OTT for all these... play-off games? Is that what they're called right now? Elimination? Hoard mode?

On topic, that Andromeda early access might turn me into an Access subcriber, even if I can't afford to buy the full game right now.

Huh. My post is gone. That's... interesting considering what's left.

Date night w/ Trump will probably be just as bad.

#halo
I think in the future we need to hold presidents accountable for Date Night. If it's not on their platform to get better XBL sales, no CAG should vote in good conscience for them. There are no other issues as important as this.

Make Date Night Great Again!

Huh... that Tekken date is a long way off! Rumors were March/April. Bummer :(

Glad to see Tekken 6 is a pre-order bonus. I own the game on a disc but would love for a digital version.

RE7 getting some great reviews! Currently at a 86 metacritic, only a few points away from the rare 90 feat. I'm tempted to dive in tonight or tomorrow.

I see Bioware is a big fan of Stone Cold.

I'm so glad RE7 is apparently very good. I grew up on the original games and they cemented my love of horror games, but the series has had so many missteps that if RE7 was no good that I'd probably give up on it for good. It doesn't need to be perfect, but damn I want it to be a good horror game.

I find it interesting that RE7 will be first-person and not third-person. This probably isn't a big deal, but hasn't the entire rest of the franchise been third-person?

Also, sending a PM about the other thing.

Yes, first-person is a huge departure for the series, and for the genre in general IMHO. I know those Condemned games were first-person but I never really cared for them. A well-established series like RE, though, it's almost as big a deal as Metroid being first-person back when Prime came out, it's the kind of thing no one would have expected and incited a lot of skepticism. Nice to hear their gamble apparently paid off.

Creators Update rolling out to XB1 Preview Program members tonight. If you got a message last week, you should get it tonight.
And because I haven't typed the word "spoiler" enough today:

An updated look at Home:
One of the first things you’ll notice is a new look for Home. Through the Insider program, we’ve received feedback from Xbox One gamers that the UI can be complex and for certain tasks, can require too many button presses. Our goal is to simplify the UI and increase overall system performance, and that starts with updating Home based on what you care most about for the games you play. To do that, we’ve optimized for speed and are surfacing to you the most valuable content for your games. You’ll notice the main tile for what you’re currently playing has changed. Now, you’ll see a smaller icon for the game and a few options to dive deeper into the Game Hub, interact with your Club or LFG for that game, view your Achievements, and more. The updated Home also celebrates the game you’re currently playing with hero art in the background when you’re not using a custom background.

Faster and more intuitive Guide:
The next thing you’re likely to notice is that Guide has been updated. With one press of the Xbox button on your controller, you can pull up the newly enhanced Guide as an overlay on the left side of your screen, no matter what you’re doing. With the Guide, we’ve added new features and functionality. You’ll notice that there’s a new start page. This page is designed to get you to the content you care about most, including your games and apps, Home, Store, your recently played games and apps, and your top Pins. It also features quick access to your media controls when playing background music.

New way to multitask:
In addition to adding a new start page to Guide, we’re also evolving our multitasking system. To simplify discoverability and to make it much quicker to get to the things you care about most, our multitasking features will also be designed to work well with the new Guide. In addition to quick access to music, screen shots and GameDVR will be one button press away. You can bring up Guide and press “X” or “Y” on your controller to record your favorite gaming moments. We’ve also added a new achievement tracker which allows you to track your favorite achievements and play at the same time. The new Guide is also where you will be able to broadcast instantly to Beam when we roll that out to Insiders in the next couple of weeks.

Cortana gaming enhancements:
There are a series of new Cortana updates to make your Xbox One smarter. In this update, you can set reminders and alarms so you don’t miss gaming sessions. In the coming weeks, we will be releasing more Cortana updates to enhance your gaming experience even more as well as continued performance and reliability updates.

Improving system updates:
Our goal with system updates is that you never have to worry about them again, and to make it clearer when a system update is available. To enable this we are updating the interface so the steps are easy to understand. We’re also going to enable every Xbox One owner to keep their console, games, and apps up to date independent of which power mode they have chosen.

Enabling Xbox One to be accessible for everyone:
One important area for us with this release is to enable Xbox One to be able to be used and played by everyone. Take for instance our new Copilot feature which allows two controllers to act as if they were one. This will help make Xbox One more inviting to new gamers needing assistance, more fun by adding cooperative controls for any game, and easier for players who need unique configurations to play — whether that is with hands apart, hand and chin, hand and foot, etc.. We are also adding new enhancements to Magnifier and Narrator, as well as giving more options over audio output and custom rumble settings on a controller, which was previously reserved for the Xbox Elite Controller. You can find these accessibility options, and more, in Settings > Ease of Access.

New spatial audio output settings for developers:
To enable more immersive experiences for Xbox One, we have added a number of audio output features in Settings. If you are a developer on Xbox One, the new settings will allow you to add Dolby Atmos for Home Theater, Dolby Atmos for Headphones, and Windows HRTF support to your streaming media application or game. For Xbox One owners, hang tight and soon you’ll be able experience even more incredible audio on your console.

Blu-ray player bitstream passthrough beta:
The Blu-ray disc player on Xbox One now supports a beta of bitstream passthrough, which allows your receiver to decode audio natively. All bitstream formats are supported, including newer ones like Dolby Atmos.

Awesome, I'm listening to the Major Nelson podcast interview with Mike Ybarra right now about the updates.

I got the invite for it last week so I'll look for the update tonight.

For those playing the HW2 Blitz Beta, does it allow bots for enemies?  Does it allow for teams?  I'm looking for StarCraft 2 features in an :xb1: game here.

I don't know how they can download updates regardless of power mode, sounds like some always online BS to me.

Call me old fashioned, but in my day the guy with one arm didn't get high scores and we didn't set up a controller so he could use his foot. I blame advancements in medical care turning all natural KIAs into cyborg abominations.
New spatial audio output settings fo developers:

I wasn't aware that the BR player wasn't already using my default setting of bitstream out...

Good stuff in there, looking forward to it. God bless us, every one (who's in the preview program but maybe later for the rest of yous).

I barely had RE7 on my radar, but I love horror movies and this new game sounds awesome. I'm sitting on $150 in credit from that one crazy Bing-related night so I think I'm in at full/free price.
