Gotta go with Gears. Gears 1 defined last gen for me, the 2nd had some of the best action sequences ever, and 3 was an emotional gut punch.

Super Mario Bros 1-2-3 are right up there, as is the Mass Effect trilogy.

If Dragon Age II wasn't such a big step back from Origins, it could have been #1. Origins and Inquisition are classics. II is ehhhhhhhh

I'm kinda tired of everything being a trilogy unless it's conceived as one from the beginning. The original Dead Space didn't need sequels, for example, even if they were good (and DS2 IMHO was great). The ME games are pretty unparalleled in terms of gaming in that department telling a cohesive story across 3 entries.

Re: Uncharted... the first game was good, the second was phenomenal, the third had horrible pacing issues which dampened my enjoyment of it.

I actually preferred the first Arkham over the open worlds of the other two, even though I thought the Batmobile stuff was okay. The story made up for occasional annoyances and I think traversing the city in the air was fun in the 3rd, too.
 
Well yeah, I meant best-of-trilogies from last gen (since we were talking the Mass Effect series), but I enjoyed reading everyone's response. I do love me some DKC to the point that I had the guides for those games when I was a kid. I also picked up DKCR3D a while ago to scratch that nostalgia itch as an adult. The Arkham games are really good. Haven't sinked my teeth into Arkham Knight yet, and prob will not anytime soon with Andromeda coming out next week lol.

that's true and it got fairly heavy toward the end if I remember correctly

I remember trying to finish up the % on something and having to be in a ridiculous battle that irritated me quite a bit because of how long it went on and how many bad dudes there were

in general though I ended up enjoying using the batmobile especially when I got good with it

 
I saw a shift code for 5 free Golden keys on @borderlands twitter feed.  Figured a few people here are playing it now.  I remember farming the chest to get purple loot and one class mod.  But otherwise don't recall getting too much great out of it over 4 consoles.  Anyway.....

They are pretty different games. WD1 was pretty hated. I got it at launch and was a bit disappointed with it. I didn't hate it though and don't regret playing it. I think WD2 was much better though. Not sure if the DLC is worth it but I was able to trade another code I had for the Gold edition.

I kinda want the gold version and cheaper so I may hold off on both

seem to be on sale quite a bit so I may just wait or hope for some credit deals to get me to pull the trigger

I actually liked the first one a lot. Probably because I was expecting something awful after reading some many complaints. I would say its worth the $12, not sure if the DLC is worth $8 since I never played it.

 
Still trying to decide if I am going to bite on Rainbow Six Siege. I don't have a ton of friends I play games with, but this may be one I visit Reddit for. Seems like a solid FPS.

I REALLY wanted the Advent Rising trilogy. At this point, I'd even take a remake of the first game since it has lots of technical issues (which is probably the big reason it flopped and now is just cult classic).

I used to feel the same way but the first Titanfall and Overwatch changed my mind on that stance. Campaigns aren't a necessity for me now, but on the flip side I do think certain franchises should never have PvP MP tacked on (Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Tomb Raider, etc). Arkham Origins' MP was some of the worst shit I've ever played, only dabbled in it for the achievements.

Eh, I think there's room for different kinds of game experiences. There's a place for games that are solidly single player only, as well as the opposite. I thoroughly enjoy both kinds. Just bought Witcher 2 and 3, so I'm set for single player experiences for a bit (and Andromeda comes out this week), and I've been eyeing Siege for most of the year it's been out so I'm tempted on biting.

Agreed, unfortunately though I think we'll see more and more of it to discourage gamers from selling or trading their games and to rake in microtransactions for skins, weapons, etc. Companies have learned that it's a lot easier to make money off of MP microtransactions than to actually put in the time and effort to make single player DLC.

My issue is that games like battlefront and even pvz should definitely have campaigns

rainbow six type games are whatever because they are generic fps but who doesn't wanna play an awesome battlefront campaign or get down on some pvz campaign action?

they have great single player games but they are getting less and less

due to the cash grab micro transactions of creating flavor of the months with games that would make excellent themes for campaigns

I agree with Battlefront because it stripped the single player out. But for games that are from the get go "this is multiplayer only" I get it. Would Titanfall have been better with a campaign? Absolutely. I love Battlefield 1's campaign, though I though 4's was a resounding "meh." I'd be incredibly upset if Halo came out multiplayer only. But R6? Never really crossed my mind about needing a campaign. There is a single player mode, though it mostly just gets you ready for multiplayer.
