As long as beamdog doesn't inject any of their own dialog into the game and can release it bug free (unlike their other two EE releases) it should be great.
Everything in there, Avellone either approved of, added himself, or edited himself:

https://www.beamdog.com/planescape_faq

What was Chris Avellone's role on PST:EE?

Chris Avellone reprises his role as Lead Designer in PST:EE. He reviewed and approved all UI adjustments and did an editorial pass of all the text in the game. In addition, in the few instances where new text was needed (i.e. additional journal entries and special ability descriptions), Chris wrote the text himself.

What content changed between PST and PST:EE?

Planescape: Torment has a unique tone and it would be impossible to add significant content to the game without changing that voice. Besides Chris Avellone's additions and edits to the text, we haven't changed any of the original Planescape: Torment content. Gameplay aside, we've added significant quality of life improvements to the user interface of this classic game. Scroll to the bottom of this FAQ for a larger list of improvements.

Maybe I will finally play this game!
Let see I have BG1 and BG2 on Steam, Android, and the original retail. I have IWD on Android and a second hand CD. I have PT from GOG. The only one I have completed is BG2 when I first purchased it 10 years ago. I have started ID1 more times than I can count.

Well...40 hours...and saying it's been boring makes no sense.
it's a hard argument right?

If you put less than a certain number of ___ hours, they will scream "you spent only that much time in the game.. who are you to judge?"

if you put more than a certain number of ____ hours, they will scream "you spent that much time... and you dont like the game? Who the hell spent that much time and proclaimed that he doesn't like the game. It doesn't make sense"

You can't win the internet

True but he said it's "boring as shit so far" so I figure he's thought that the whole time.

Maybe he's waiting it to go from "meh" to "great", at some point?

And still playing just in case it gets better?

And still playing cause it's a damn Mass Effect franchise game?

I am enjoying my time in ME:A so far.  Though it is easily the buggiest game I've ever played.  I don't think I've in a single sitting went more than 20 min before my FPS goes from a solid 60 to about 2-5 and my camera starts spinning wildly.

Somebody has taken the time to port No One Lives Forever 1&2 to modern systems.

I'm sure people remember the cluster fuck that Nightdive went through trying to get this released some time ago.

Thanks for posting this! You made my day.... Actually my week! lol

I have never played any NOLF game and have only heard good things. I tried to play it a few years ago, but couldn't get it to run.

If anyone has an AMD card (I have an R9 290) and has issues getting it to start due to an MFC application error like many of the YouTube comments:

-Right-click on the game Shortcut and go to Properties.

-Select Compatibilty and check the box that says "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

This worked for me.

Yeah, but 40 hours is way past the first number and the second number so that doesn't even apply in this case. I can't stand 30 minutes in a boring game, so god bless the soul who can play 40 hours of it.

Cannot fault you on that reasoning but I give some genres more time than others... RPG allot of time... puzzle games not so much.

40 hours..? I think I woukd only do that if it was a gift and said person knew rather or not I was playing it.

Last night we played Red Faction: Guerilla and had a pretty good turnout aside from Bah who was trying to pick up divorcees at a PTA meeting and Weiler, who tried to play but failed to anti-alias his vsyncs and had technical issues.  Was a surprisingly fun game; perhaps only so-so as a straight shooter but weaving in environmental destruction effects and some entertaining power-ups (backpacks) and mechanics.  The game was best in modes where it played to its strength: one mode had two teams racing to see who could destroy the most buildings while simultaneously trying to kill the other team's designated destructor.  Another mode was a siege where Team A defends two large buildings while Team B ransacks them with sledgehammers and earthquake-producing backpacks.  I found the straight "Kill the guys" modes less interesting since other games do the pew-pew thing better.  A good night and it'll probably go into the rotation of stuff we play when the planned game sucks/is broken/etc.

Tonight we're going to go hammer and tongs out in non-stop action, playing Ticket to Ride.  Which is about trains.  Or Beatles trivia.  I dunno.

Maybe I will finally play this game!
You should. If you liked any of the modern isometric RPGs that I haven't played yet but have heard and read plenty about (Pillars of Eternity, Tides of Numenera), you owe it to yourself to play their ancestor. It's probably the best CRPG of all time. This will be a golden opportunity for those too young to remember to dive in and experience this classic.

So either this is some hacker scam or they just said fuck it, release it until someone decides to come after them? The webpage is just a single page. im grabbing the files but ill probably hold off on the install a bit. I remember that article where they threw in the towel on getting rights to these game because noone could definitely say who had them. May take a while for someone to even notice.

edit/;

found a forum talking about this about 9 months ago. Probably safe, multiplayer retro brofist?
Personally, I never got around to playing the second game, but the first one was great. Also, the soundtrack is all kinds of awesome.

Honestly, an underrated gem. (and I mean that in regards to MP which is an absolute lol blast.)

Sort-of. The linked article makes it sound as though Funcom's actually going to be running two games simultaneously that will effectively compete with one another for players and real-world money. From what I read, the original game will stay exactly the same but the new version will have a tweaked combat system and a traditional F2P cosmetics and boosts store. It does sound pretty bizarre but maybe the extra revenue is how Funcom plans to keep the servers active for the regular game.

Now that Syntax mentioned it, fair warning to the bros, but I might miss the bulk of this week's bro events. I'll DL the games just in case, but I'm not sure if I'll be up to gaming this week. Back has been acting up lately. Seeing the doc today, but unless she dopes me up on something good I might be out for the count.
I hope you don't need a backiotomy.

Looks like cdkeys wants to get rid of their stock of Mass Effect Andromeda not sure how the price compares to other retailers since I'm not interested (still have the other 3 games back logged and all the bad press isn't helping me want the game)
Anyways
Game link: http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/mass-effect-andromeda-pc-origin-cd-key
Use this coupon code: cdkeysmea777
Pay: $43.34

Like I said not sure how this compares just figured I'd share it since I have seen conversation about the game in the thread

oh thank god, so also announced with bf1's battlefest is their first test run of `premium friends`

https://www.battlefield.com/news/article/introducing-premium-friends-a-word-from-our-producer

As long as one person in your party owns premium your party becomes premium enabled, and you can all play on premium maps.  Non-premium users only earn retroactive XP that will be available if they buy premium, and cant use premium weapons or unlock anything. Still at least it lets those of us play all maps with friends that have slacked during glitches and dont own it yet

The only reason I bought Premium was to shame poor plebs who couldn't afford it and not play our maps. (But seriously, this was needed since their servers have been shit since the new maps because everyone without Premium is trying to play the same servers).

Activating that Magic Chiv beta key had me pondering, has anyone ever actually printed a receipt of a Steam key you activated?  I know at least one of you old timers has done it.  Myster D probably has a file cabinet full of receipts.

yea thats sort of how bf4 went. My group always owned premium for the bf games so it wasnt much of an issue, but you could just look at the browser and see the crowded clusterfuck of non-premium servers with like 10 in queue. While there was usually a plentiful amount of various dlc enabled servers with just enough slots to get a squad in

Lol they just can't let go of DLC Maps that splinter the playerbase and hurt the game more

It's almost as though they're in business to make money!

Though this move seems to be in response to "splintering the player base" since now non-premium people can still play with their premium friends.

Oh don't get me wrong it makes sense financial wise but it seems like every other FPS is doing other ways to make money ala skins etc and not maps to not get the problem that happens since BF3 hopefully this solutions fixes part of it

Well thanks to Crackhead (fittingly) I have finally hit 1K. Really only tried the last year or so but have had a steam account for 11. Woo!..?

EA makes a customer centric decision? LIES fuck ing LIES!

The Secret World is going F2P as Secret World Legends:

https://secretworldlegends.com/faq/

-- Redesigned combat system

-- Enhanced visuals

-- All content will be free: past, present, and future.

-- New system called Aurum, where players can buy in-games weapons, items, services (i.e. micro-transactions)

-- Each account gets ONE character slot. You want more, you'll have to buy it.

-- You can buy Aurum from other players for in-game currency.

-- At launch, SWL will only be on Steam; Non-Steam versions will come later.

-- You will be starting over completely as a new character with SWL, if you decide to play the new SWL version.

-- Old TSW version on Steam will be gone from Steam, once SWL actually launches.

-- If you want to play Old TSW version, you can register it on your account + download the Old TSW version via Funcom.

-- Your Old TSW saves + characters will still exist on their servers after SWL launches, so you can still play Old TSW over there if you still want to.

Doesn't apply much to me since I've had a lifetime account for ages, but it's cool to see Funcom staying on top of shit and keeping the wheels moving instead of abandoning it. Haven't played the game in forever, but TSW is one of the best, most unique MMOs I've ever played.

I stuck through as far as I did (and believe me, I understand you guys making fun) because ALL the interviews seem to insinuate it gets BETTER at some point in the "future" game. And 40 hrs.. when you're honestly running back and forth and back and forth and not able to hit A to skip dialogs (including the useless ones) isn't that much.

Well, from the FAQ - it looks like TSW Owners + Grand Masters will get some kind of Benefits, which can be rolled into the Patron / Aurum System.

an office snaffu lead to all of EA's "9/10 review" checks getting lost in the mail.

Most reviewers were too lazy to rewrite a glowing review and so just upped the score a couple points and threw in a "it gets better" line.

Yeah, but 40 hours is way past the first number and the second number so that doesn't even apply in this case. I can't stand 30 minutes in a boring game, so god bless the soul who can play 40 hours of it.
you only spend 30 min in a game and u judge it boring? that's not enough time to explore the game fully yet.. who are you to judge :D/

Yeah, it definitely doesn't magically get better as you progress. However there are enough unique stories interspersed in the side quests to hold my interest, plus previous ME games have conditioned me to go talk to everybody on a regular basis so all that running back and forth is something I would have been doing anyway. Most of the scan & collect missions are brutally dull, but they also introduced me to areas of the map I probably would have missed. On the other hand, i've also stumbled across side mission finales without actually beginning said mission and later found things leading up to the mission I had already completed.

Dialogues are absolutely skippable though, perhaps your game was bugged. Andromeda certainly has no shortage of bugs.

Yeah I have the original PST on GOG but I remember trying it once and getting pretty frustrated trying to find working links for the mods and getting them to work (widescreen fixes, etc.). I think my PC at the time had some issue where I could barely get it to run for some reason.

I'll bite. How do I skip them? A/B doesn't work. They just keep prattling. I would have thrown money at EA to get me out of the Beer conversation with your shipmate.

And same. I ended up with a data pad that had a 'conclusion' to a chain of information way before I found the rest of it. And my character (who at that point had zero knowledge) was like.. oh so that's what happened to so n so. It wasn't until later that I found the earlier datapad and my main character was then like "I wonder what happened to so n so".

I just setup Steam Guard mobile

"

A delay to catch and stop item theft
If a user trading away or selling items hasn't had their account protected by a Mobile Authenticator for the past 7 days:
Trades: item delivery from completed trades will be delayed by Steam for up to 15 days
Market: sell listings will be held by Steam before they are posted for up to 15 days"

Wish I knew about that sooner otherwise I would had did it at the beginning of the year.
I just have to hope my PLAYERUNKNOWN items keep going up or stay steady.

Heads up for anyone joining for Ticket to Ride: You'll need a Days of Wonder account (which you can set up in game in about five seconds but still) and you might want to consider running through the tutorial before starting.
