Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

The PS4 Pro has a 4k enhanced version of Battlefield 1 correct? Any word on Xbox One X enhanced version? Still torn on whether to buy Titanfall 2 / Battlefield Deluxe bundle.
for what's it worth with that bundle, there was a vid from Digital Foundry that Respawn say they could have Titanfall 2 running at 6k on the Xbox one X. The actual vid kind of knocks the Xbox One X, but around the 4 minute mark there is some good 900p vs 4k side by sides of Titanfall 2

Any opinions on the Jack Party Packs? These seem to rarely go on sale and 2 and 3 are half off.
This series is one of the few family multiplayer games for when one of the adults is more of a mobile/solitaire/mahjong gamer, and the children are more accurately labelled as "teen". We have a lot of fun playing all three collections.

I could see it being fun at a casual party or for friends hanging out, too.

I really want to buy something during the sale, but I keep talking myself out of every purchase.

The witness - I don't play the puzzle games I already have.

Dying light enhanced edition - I own the base game and I could just buy the following by itself since I hear that rest of the season pass content isn't even very good.

Dead rising 4 season pass - nope still have yet to complete the base game.

Witcher 3 expansion - same reason, still have yet to complete the base game

Little nightmares - I can wait for cheaper

On a scale of Miley Cyrus to Lindsey Lohan how is that Sniper Ghost Warrior 3?
Well they fixed a ton of stuff. Loading is more tolerable now. It's kinda like a Far Cry game. Big nap, lots of trash to do.

tl;dr I'd say it's currently a Jodie Sweetin.

They fixed stuff already?? It's only what 3 months old?

I love me some Full House

Wow. They really changed the end of the tutorial of Marvel Heroes Omega where you buy your first hero a lot. Before, they gave you enough Eternity Splinters to buy any low or mid-tier hero, so you could pick from the majority of what's in the game up front. Now, they only give you enough for that lowest tier, which at least has more options now than before. Before, you could choose from Angela, Nova, and Squirrel Girl for the cheapest ES price, but now they've added Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Kitty Pryde to that mix. That's a big change for the beginning, especially since Captain America is my main on PC and PS4. I just picked Daredevil and will main him until I get enough Eternity Splinters to unlock Cap.

If you're a Diablo III person and need some comparison heroes, Captain America is like the Crusader and Nova is like the wizard from what I've played. Squirrel Girl has some cool ranged attacks where she sends squirrels out to take out enemies. Angela is melee-focused and wasn't great from what I played of her.

Switching heroes will require you to restart the story progress from the start, though not the very beginning with those first two tutorial levels. The weird thing on PS4 was that when I beat the campaign with Cap, my alternate heroes were not required to get through the campaign themselves, so they only had end game legendary quests or patrols to do despite being too low level to do some of them. The weird way that you can play with others outside of instanced areas meant I could cheat a bit to let others complete quest goals for me if I at least got a few hits in. I'll be curious to see if that's changed with this newest iteration.

If you're wondering about how often the in-game currency (Eternity Splinters) drops, it was very often on PS4. I had enough by the end of the campaign with Cap to get one of the cheap heroes and wasn't that far from getting one of the mid-tier heroes, so all of the ES prices being cheaper with this update is great if you're willing to keep grinding for ES. Definitely make use of the free trial of every hero up to level 10 to make sure you're into their abilities before buying them.

With excess loot, it's best to donate everything to vendors to level them up and unlock new items. Gold isn't useful early on since you don't want to buy gear or anything like that and enough gold will drop during the campaign that you'll probably not need to sell things for a while. Don't use the stash for much other than important items like danger room stuff, crafting materials, and higher level loot for the hero you're using. You'll get enough loot with other heroes that you don't need to save things for them unless it's a legendary or some other high-level item.

Thanks for the opinions on the Jackbox stuff... I think I'll go ahead and give it a go.

I also played some Superhot and Enter the Gungeon this morning and both are super fun so far.  Don't regret purchasing either one!

Well they fixed a ton of stuff. Loading is more tolerable now. It's kinda like a Far Cry game. Big nap, lots of trash to do.
tl;dr I'd say it's currently a Jodie Sweetin.
I'm so confused. First off, I can't tell who is supposed to be the top of the scale between Miley and Lindsay. And where would Jodie Sweetin fit in? Adult Jodie > both Lindsay and Miley, so then the game is great?

Microsoft Rewards has $5 xbox credit for 3500 points until July 28th.
Sob, I just redeemed mine for a fiver the other day. I also went back to my email to find that 30 day trial for Game Pass but only found a do a Xbox survey and then set Game Pass as your goal discounted half off. I could have also redeemed the email for 7,000 points but I went for the discount.

Any opinions on the Jack Party Packs? These seem to rarely go on sale and 2 and 3 are half off.
They're still my go-to game whenever we have company. Now that everyone in my friend circle has tired of Cards Against Humanity, these are a good substitute and scratch a similar itch with Quiplash. Definitely recommended.

I'm really digging Marvel Hero's Omega, I tried it on PC about 3 name changes ago when it first launched and got bored pretty quick. Lot easier to keep my interest when I can lounge on my couch with an Xbox controller and some of the later "worlds" are really well done. I took Black Widow as my free character, she has a pretty awesome chain lighting attack for some reason. I'm digging the game it's a Diablo clone in every sense.

Should I just donate all my crafting material too or try to store it? That's whats taking up a majority of my inventory slots right now (like 31 out of 40)

I am still annnoyed at how MS handles DLC for a lot of thier games with these big sales. I can't remember how many times we have seen both Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and the game with the DLC included put up for sale, but they never just put the DLC up for sale. Why they dont also just put up the DLC for sale, for those that have already purchased the game is just beyond my understanding. And when they do put up DLC for sale its usually nowhere near as good of a deal. Witcher 3 is a perfect example. The full game right now is $23.99 yet the complete edition, which contains $25 worth of DLC is just $25.00. Who in thier right mind would buy the bare bones game for $23.99 when the complete edition is just $1.01 more? Its ridiculous. And the DLC by itself is on sale for $12.50 so again its just nowhere near as good of a deal.

You see this kind of approach with DLC a lot with MS sales. Basically the people that buy the game early get screwed in regards to getting deals on the DLC while the people that are patient and wait for the complete edition of the games wind up getting killer deals. Its really back a*s backwards considering the people buying the game right away are giving more support to both MS and the game studio yet they reward the people that wait for the complete editions to hit the market and go on sale FAR more so than the people that buy the game right away. Again, just makes no sense to me at all. I finally gave in and purchased the Dragon Age Inquisition GOTY, even tho I already owned the full game, as the GOTY edition has been up for sale like 6 or 7 times now for 1/2 the cost of just the DLC alone and they NEVER put just the DLC up for sale. Oh well, it is what it is. All in all this was a petty good sale for me. One of the better I can remmber in some time.

Stupid Question from a Stupid CAG:

Are there known, consistent places to acquire season passes for Xbox games at a discounted rate other than the Xbox store?

I've checked CDKeys, I've checked the CAG Trading Threads....I'm coming up empty.

I know the wait for a season pass price drop is one of the most common CAG complaints from anyone that has ever ended up loving a game but did not buy its complete edition in the first place.  ...so I'm wondering where we are now in 2017.

As someone that has started liking MMO PvE play, I think I want to give Destiny another chance, but only need the last expansion (Rise of Iron) to get current; not wanting to pay $30 for the whole kitnkaboodle if I can avoid it.  Similarly, I bought The Division back in the day for next to nothing and want the season pass...but don't want the "Gold Edition" to get there.

Any suggestions and/or past experiences in your own season pass price searches would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The easiest avenue to this is to buy discounted credit. You can count on that more often than season passes going on sale.

picked up the pacman/dig dug/galaga combo so far. Hopefully go back and there's something I've missed.

I know right, but i started working 12hr midnights Thursday at a warehouse for let's just say it's name (which can't be named) is home to some huge rain forest. Best thing so far is my inner nerd kicked in when I had to stow a Star Trek book right next to a Star Wars book. I almost felt bad putting these so close lol

the bing rewards special this month  helps with this.  I picked up the witness already, and probably going to get witcher 3 complete and superhot.  if you guys got bing rewards, now's a good time to redeemt them

My plans got canceled last night so I ended up marathoning the last... 5-6 (?) hours of Bioshock 2. Mechanically that game is a lot of fun and improves on the gameplay of the original, but it still feels like it shouldn't exist in the sense that the original's story was so self-contained (love or hate it, at least Infinite expands the story/universe without being a direct sequel). As it stands, BS2 just feels like really well-made fan fiction. Worth playing, but the story is less intriguing. BS2 has way better load times than BS1, in terms of the remaster, and it includes research progress in the menu. Why they didn't take those tiny changes and add them to the original, I have no idea.

I had missed this, it's tempting.

After eying it every other time it's been on sale, I caved on Saints Row 3. I played it a ton on PS3 and for the price, I'll take it for a spin again.

Played some of Tokyo 42. I like it but feel like the controls could be a bit better. Controlling the camera, perspective and aiming while moving is cumbersome the way it's set up -- particularly aiming. Maybe they'll grow on me.

I'll also suggest using Target when they combine SKUs for games that had/have a gold version with the SP on a code. In many cases, you can sell the base game and not pay much for the SP...

Now is definitely the time to make your gamble purchases of Xbox OG games. I just bought five games for under $10 including tax.

Brute Force -  Microsoft Studios, very likely BC.
Deus Ex: Invisible War - Now owned by Square Enix, moderately likely as many of their western 360 games are BC.
Halo
Halo 2 - Obviously MCC exists but it never hurts to have extra copies in case of LAN parties, even if they never make them BC.

Jade Empire Limited Edition - Bioware/EA means pretty likely, especially if OG games become part of EA Access. Microsoft originally published which may improve odds. Mass Effect 1 was one of the beta BC games, which I think was partially because they published.

My remaining list is probably MechAssault 1 and 2, the Blinx games, maybe Dead or Alive 3, and some research into Sega's offerings beyond Panzer Dragoon.

The best part of BS2 was the Minerva's Den dlc. If you haven't played that I suggest doing so. BS2 is my least favorite out of the three but Minerva's Den alone may be my second favorite.

I played through Guns, Gore and Cannoli last night/this morning, it's a fun little game. Grabbed it from that indie sale, worth it for that price, but I wouldn't say it's worth it for the full price. I'll clean up the achievements on it later on, looks like the full 1000 is pretty doable, I got 550/1000 on my first run through.

Let us know if you get used to it and like it better. It's the only game I have my eye on in this sale.

That was one of the reasons I wanted the collection, I never played Minerva's Den or the DLC for Infinite. I started the former this afternoon, I'm waiting for it to get as good as everyone talks it up to be, but I'm only through the first area. After how long I played yesterday I'm a tad burned out on it all, but I'll come back to it in a few days.

I started playing dadbeatdads with my son today. Great fun for .99. I'm glad I picked it up. I enjoy getting to play games with him and it's a fun pick up and play game

Yeah, playing Minerva's Den after marathoning BS2 would probably cause it to lose some of its pull/interest/I don't know what to call it. The story didn't really pull me in towards the end. I only ever played the first half of the infinite dlc, it was a nice change in location after playing infinite and was a cool play on the ending of the base game.

Wayyy late to the party here. Thanks to the Grand Master, Bloomy, for your continued service and dedication to the cause. I want in on this sale even though its not that great. Looking at Deus Ex, Deadpool and Dying Light. However...the CAG in me has grown stronger thanks to all of you, as I have spent maybe $100 this entire year on games. Compare that to almost $1300 last year. Savings will go to a non-existent pre-order of the SNES classic and the X-bone X. Pass again.  :speaktothehand:  :twoguns:
