Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
[*]Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!

Is Monopoly Plus fun playing against the AI?
Monopoly is never fun unless you're wasting your whole turn playing as the silver dog humping the shit out of players sharing the same space as you. That or when someone realizes "this is dumb! We have other options and games besides this and hoop and stick!" then you throw the game into the fireplace and do something actually fun.

Jumping in the Yooka Laylee discussion, it seems decent enough from what I’ve played. But I’d say Voodoo Vince scratches that same itch enough and is better overall IMO even as just a remaster.

And if you have a PS4 or can wait for the X1 release, the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy is very good.

Tomorrow marks one month since its reveal and still no XB1X preorders. Live feed of the FCC approvals team:

Not a hunting guy - at all. But I gotta say The Hunter: Call of the Wild looks really good. Console port coming this year, published by Avalanche (Mad Max, Just Cause) and THQ Nordic. Features an RPG-like skill tree and 4-player online multiplayer. TATS.

Look how enormous those bear, boar, and dragons are. What chance do we humans have? This is why we need to exterminate all wildlife from the face of the earth. I fear for the future of our children! Everone to arms!

Here is an important video from Troy McClure to explain what is at stake.

I bought a new Elite controller yesterday at Game Stop. They wouldn't allow me to add extended warranty for $9.99. One guy tried to tell me I get a 1 year manufactures warranty. It is right on the side of the box. Well no it isn't and its only a 90 day one anyway. He said the warranty was only for used.

Over in one of the Game Stop threads it was all but confirmed that in store you can not buy a new elite and a 1 year warranty for $9.99 but had to order it online.

If that is true I am sadly going to return this. Not sure I am going to re order it online as gamestop.com charges tax even when using credit. Just a bit too pricey.

I am going to try the GameStop near my job and see if I can add the warranty. If not probably just get my money back and maybe see if there is a sale around BF for like $129.99. Around $150 shipped with the warranty is fine. Approaching $170 nah.
Why do people still shop at GameStop? The least customer friendly place on Earth.

Its not so bad when they pay you to shop.
Im an adult with kids. I'd rather spend my time with them than driving around flipping games to GameStop. Really couldn't deal with some of the junior detectives people always complain about. I'm lucky that I have a really good job where I am paid well and I can avoid that place no matter how much they are "paying" people to shop there.

I do understand that some people enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I did like 15 years ago when I also really needed the gaming money. Also if this is one of the only ways you can fund your gaming more power to you.

Still hate that place like the plague.

I mean to each their own, but when it comes right down to it, making something like $200-300 bucks an hour in GameStop credit for just driving around and shooting the shit with GameStop employees is pretty ok in my book :p

This is me too. Even all the credit can't get me to walk back into a GameStop.

Bought nothing from the sale, but came home with Doom, Forza Horizon 2, For Honor, F1 2016 for 50€ total. Going to keep FH2 because I'm slowly trying to finish all championships (won't happen), got all Arcade Mode Doom achievements (and heard a rumor about the others going free soon so I'll keep it), but For Honor and F1 aren't my cup of tea so I'll probably sell them away.

Why do all Ubisoft games these days mention a diverse group of people created a game? Is this a parental warning? Are these titles that I should avoid? I don't get it.
That started back for the original Assassin’s Creed. Apparently, a bunch of Christians that can’t separate a work of fiction from their faith accused it of being anti-Christian because of a number of reasons. The disclaimer was basically done as a way of saying “Hey, a lot of people from a lot of different belief groups, including Christians, worked on this so shut up.”

Heard Bloomy has a meeting with a Russian attorney who promised him dirt on Date Night. Not sure he secured what was promised but am anxious to hear his testimony.

I am not into the flipping really. And could afford to buy the controller for cash if I really wanted to. They occasionally have some good trade in deals and I do that get a new console or to unload a bunch of games I no longer want. I traded my Vita I don't use for $116. Amazon I think was giving less then $80. I guess I could have left it in a drawer or thrown it out or wasted time selling in on Ebay. But decided I would take the $116 plus the $50 GC I got for buying a XBox One S a few weeks ago and treat myself to an expensive controller I normally wouldn't buy. Turning something I don't use and a GC into something I wanted.

But yeah dealing with them really sucks much of the time. I don't buy new games there (cheaper at Best Buy or Amazon).

I went at lunchtime and they were not even aware you could buy the warranty online. They couldn't do it in store. Only on used controllers (no thanks) Got my money back. Which they screwed up slightly. Some how I got 65 cents more back. $13.xx that was trade credit ended up the $50 GC. No big deal.

I mean to each their own, but when it comes right down to it, making something like $200-300 bucks an hour in GameStop credit for just driving around and shooting the shit with GameStop employees is pretty ok in my book :p
I made close to $600 an hour and it's all been moved to Amazon and Best Buy. Much better than okay for me and although I do well enough I don't do multiple hundreds an hour well.

Yeah, but how often do opportunities like that present themselves? Most of the flipping talk I've observed over the years has been for profits of a couple of dollars per game.

I don't know who expected that. Mass Effect itself never really had copy/paste characters in the original trilogy. And if you branch out to Dragon Age they have pretty varied character types with every new game.

The upcoming patch is supposed to change the camera to be more modern or something, and give the option to turn down the amount of gibberish, for what it's worth.
If this is the case, I may pick the game up again in the future. I don't think the game had a camera problem, it had a control problem (could be viewed as the same thing). I can't imagine that my reflexes have deteriorated so much that I have a hard time jumping from one platform to another without falling or that I can't beat that cloud in the first world at a race (I spin and try to land on the butterflies to keep that spin energy going and for some reason I spin out of control way too easy). The "moop moop moop" I didn't mind so much.

TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan (disc) is $9.99 and back in stock at MS Store. Ships free.

This game isn't very good. But for $10 I'd say go for it.
And just in case the game is already sold out by the time I post this, you should be able to find the game at your local RedBox kiosk for the same price. Of course they replace the case and artwork with a charming little demon sticker, but I've yet to see an :xb1: disc come from one of those machines that wasn't playable.

.

Is anyone else excited to see where they go with the Castlevania series?

You're absolutely right, but that's the best part for me. I go crazy once every couple years when the opportunity presents itself, and a day's worth of driving gets me hundreds of dollars of free stuff.
You don't need to devote hours upon hours to flipping for the times when you can only make a couple bucks. You just need to have an open mind to hit it big when the stars align.

I've gotten the impression that most of the trading and flipping is a slow trickle of increasing credit over time, or shuffling credit balances between GS, Amazon, and Best Buy. Sometimes increasing a cash infusion by 20-30%. I think since most of us don't buy a lot of stuff brand new right as it releases there's less appeal as our games aren't a good trade-off.

That 70% trade-increase on top of the apparently normal end of month bump on current gen was a perfect storm, even before the B2G1 that made the flippocalypse possible. The best boost even my local stores have had before was only 50%.

GS corporate really needs to change their practices as the constant pushing is what really keeps me from shopping there. In my limited time there over the weekend I was asked about:

-Injustice 2 season pass
-pre-order on the Xbox One X
-pre-order on the New 2DS
-interest in a $480 console bundle
-Switch protection plan
-game protection plan

I loved my experience with the game, purchased the deluxe edition on Day One. Even if it is of noticeably lower quality, I think most fans of the original trilogy will be fans of this one. Having said that, there are a few issue with the game. While they've resolved a number of performance issues that were around when the game first released (which I thankfully didn't encounter), the games' narrative leaves a bit to be desired. A bit more aimless, and no knock-out moments compared to ME1 which had meeting Saren, getting command of the Normandy, the battle on Virmire, and of course the final battle.
That's because ME1 was just that, the 1st Mass Effect. Those awesome moments were like never before seen or played before. It's very typical for numbness to settle in when a series or franchise continues forward. There were some cool moments in Gears 4 but come on, we've all seen crazy shit already with the series' previous titles. I think it's a little like that.

I've been playing it since last Tuesday and posting here with some thoughts and impressions. If you feel like digging through the thread, lots of discussion over the last week, but the short version is it's a very good game in its own right but it's not what everyone who was a fan of the series was looking for. Which I think is totally okay, I don't want bands I like to write the Same album five times in a row and if I want ME2, I'll go play ME2 again.

I do agree that the team members are a lot less compelling then they were in the previous games although I have one or two favorites.

The game is comparatively open-ended and requires an open mind but from a story and gameplay perspective, I'm surprised by some of the more intense criticism it received.
ME2 is my all time fav tbh. That and I'm OK with Andromeda being not ME2. I feel like Andromeda is Mass Effect 1 like Fallout New Vegas is Fallout 3. There's a similar game there but created by a different studio team so you've got its individual flavor on it which take it or leave it can be a lot of fun.

Not a hunting guy - at all. But I gotta say The Hunter: Call of the Wild looks really good. Console port coming this year, published by Avalanche (Mad Max, Just Cause) and THQ Nordic. Features an RPG-like skill tree and 4-player online multiplayer. TATS.

Holy crap, they FarCry-ed the crap out of that game. When you get to team up with other human players, to take on dangerous animals you wouldn't normally go after, I initially had this pop up into my head:

And don't deal with warranties from retail stores, use Squaretrade*, *approved, I've used them on consoles, PCs, guitar controllers, etc. They helped me out of a bind when my Xbox Guitar Controller stopped working on me. Gee it's crazy a little button I'd mash down furiously stopped working.

gamestops buy 2 get 1 free on all preowned products is one of the best promotions any retail store has.
Honestly only when there is a good trade in deal. Their used game prices leave something to be desired.

I’m quite content with GCU and never stepping in GameStop unless they have some insane promotion like the 60-70% trade bonus recently (before values tanked).

Plus they seem to hire their staff based on what level of asshole they can be. :)

GS used promos are great for older, more niche titles. My best buy has a trash selection unless you're only looking for the newest titles, and even then unless it's AAA they only get a couple copies at a time, and that includes pre-orders.

Amazon will generally be overpriced as well, which leaves gs as the best option in most cases.

what about hardware tho? its on all preowned items. recent promotion I got 2 s7 edges and ps vr for 650~. I bought three 64gb vita cards and threw two on ebay so that I could keep the last one and make 5 bucks. I honestly wouldn't have gotten either if it werent for the promotions.

Yeah, definitely can be a good deal on hardware I suppose. Especially after reading how a bunch of people made out following the credit bonus the last few weeks.

It was about the adoption rate of Xbox One in Russia. Da, adoptions.

I am. The design is great, but I hope they work out some of the animation issues, particularly the lip syncing.

So, I bought Shadow of Mordor on disc years ago and then picked up the season pass.  When I try to buy the GOTY version, it says I already own this.  Is it because of the season pass?  I'd like to give away the disc and just keep a full digital copy.

I'm having the same problem and I don't own anything already. I think it must just be a glitch.

I try not to go too often but will if there is a decent deal. I think I will convert $150+ of my GC to XBox credit and buy the controller with that from MS directly. 1 year warranty (chnandler_bong pointed this out in one of the Game Stop threads). I will end up with like $20 credit left so no real need to go back to Game Stop for a long while.

I have been going too often and getting too annoyed with the stupidity. There is decent guy at the store near my job which is the one I try to use when I do 'need' to go there. The ones near my house they are very hit or miss. One guy at one of them is decent and a girl at another is pretty good. Others are hit and miss.

TLDR; I need to take a break from going to GameStop for a while.

Not exactly a great deal if you have to buy shit you don't want with the intention of selling. The high price on games newer than 6 months old is part of what pushed me to the all new Switch bundle. I was considering grabbing a PS4 but the games from about 4 months back like Nier and Horizon were still at $55 used.

GS corporate really needs to change their practices as the constant pushing is what really keeps me from shopping there. In my limited time there over the weekend I was asked about:

-pre-order on the New 2DS
-interest in a $480 console bundle

I would of pre-ordered that Xbox One X

What if I told you it was over $2k in credit for about 3 hours worth of "work"?
I would say YMMV. That sounds like multiple trips to gamestop which kills the deal. Also ppl getting 2k in credit either had a butt load of discs at home or were spending real money at Walmart. I read some of the thread and the success stories but I also read the ones of ppl getting turned away and all the various trips to different stores.

Just reading the stories was painful enough, then I went and played Overwatch.

Seriously, lol you can't, the FCC hasn't even declared that possible.

I have a kick ass job with a Fortune 500 company and have an 8 year old son. It was worth my 3 hours on the Monday of a 4 day holiday weekend to amass the credit for a free X1X and games for it.

I must admit that I enjoyed the hunt and the local GS employees (except for one dude that was an asshole in general - not just to me) were great and I had fun shooting the shit with them for a bit...

What if I told you I spent $0 out of pocket? Never went to Walmart but I did hit 9 Gamestops. It's over now but it was like surfing a huge wave for a couple days.

Oh and the stories you read weren't the great ones. Those were the attention seekers. This promo was done best by those of us who laid low for the whole thing.
