I remember one year when I was a little kid, I wanted an RC car more than anything. Then I got one for my birthday and it was one of those shitty $12 Radio Shack types with a 3' cord connecting the car to the controller. After that, it's "But you already HAVE a car and you never play with it..."

Thanks for digging that pain back up, Fox.
I had one that didn't have a controller that just ran in a straight line forever...

I think your parents just gave you a Matchbox car and an inclined plane.

Or maybe some Stompers. I had some Stompers. They were, ironically, much better than the fake RC car.

Man, toy commercials were the best back then. The cartoons were mainly shit and unwatchable today but every toy commercial had kids creating some new world out of red Solo cups and kite string and packing peanuts so Action Guy could slide down and crash into a cup pyramid, dumping peanuts over (and thus defeating) Bad Boss Guy. Those were the days, man.

Stompers had a motor and a battery.  I once broke open a solar powered calculator and rigged the panel to drive a Stomper (as complicated as tying red to red and black to black) and felt like mother effin' Tesla.

So much potential. Totally squandered.

Last night we played some Battlefield 1 at the request of CommanderShiro (full disclosure: not a real commander). Now we'll have to see if Shiro ever joins us again after listening to Bah burn up the headsets for two hours and change. We did well though, winning a couple games and getting top squad in one and the two games we lost were the first one where we joined halfway into a losing fight and one where the opposing team was stacked with high ranked players. Afterward, I think some played PUBG but I wasn't invited to their reindeer games and cried and cried and cried.
I should be good as long as I don't kill Bah with a Hellriegel. He seems to really hate people that use it.

So it appears Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition is also coming to Steam next month (8/15).  Previously I believe they only confirmed PS4 and X1 versions.

What's neat about this is apparently it's going to include something called "Scene of the Crime", which was an unreleased prototype of what ended up becoming Night Trap.  And it's going to be completely playable in this Anniversary Edition.

Night Trap looks terrible. Just watch the horrible movie on Youtube. I'm generally OK with FMV games too...but this is to another extreme.
But that's kinda the point. Those games Night Trap, Sewer Shark and Phantasmagoria were B movies made on a shoe-string budget in the early days of full motion videogames. Remember these games came out on Sega CD, PC and etc. The tech was new and expensive so they had to use cheap actors, Dana Plato for example, videogames had a huge stigma so Hollywood wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole, so this is what you got badly made games that we're kinda charming in it's own way. Kinda like grindhouse films or 1950's horror flicks.

So, what has more interaction from the player - Night Trap, a David Cage "game", or a modern-day Telltale "game"?
It's funny if it wasn't for games like Night Trap, Telltale wouldn't have a career. Those games were the natural evolution of "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. As videogames got more popular and people were looking for more types of games to make besides platformers which were all the rage back then, these was the best example of adult videogames. Those were made for people like me who outgrew Sonic and Mario and were looking for something more movie like. I mean we remember the good awful RE PS1 opening. That was epically bad.

Here's the uncensored, uncut opening for all of you young whippersnappers with you i7's and your 4Ks and you Anti-aliasing. This is what we had and it was heavily censored and played in B&W. It's really tame by today's standards but it was considered next generation, game changing stuff at the time.

Hmmmm....when's Double Switch (w/ Corey Haim and Debbie Harry) getting a PC Remaster on Steam?
The game's already been released on Android and iOS, you know. Quarterback Attack, as well.

The company seems uninterested in porting it to PC.

I'm hoping someone will release the last game Digital Pictures ever made, but which was never released: Maximum Surge.

Christmas 1992.

I received Sega CD and Night Trap :D Night Trap is largely terrible, but at the time it was awesome, especially to a 14 year old. Id give it a replay at some point, but not a game Id buy at a significant price. Humble FMV :D

Sega CD, so so bad.

It's something I wouldn't mind Humble Bundled but the gameplay and story are a joke. I did get a good laugh at work watching someone trying to play it.

Speaking of Christmas and toys and such, this is a commercial that will stay with me until the day I die.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85HSayVAC6U

It looked like a blast on TV but even as a kid I knew I'd get bored of it too quickly to justify asking for it. I'd still love to play it but it goes for like $80, too rich for my blood.

^

lol, i think every kid had that exact same thought. But man did that commercial constantly run. I didnt know a single kid who owned one though

House Party was removed from Steam so you're all going to have to get your Uncanny Valley humping rocks off somewhere else.

After one month of being on sale in Early Access, House Party has been removed from Steam pending a 'watered down' version of the game, as stated by the developers at Eek! Games in a blog post on the take down.

Spoder will be selling his extra key for 1,000,000 M:LLs.

I read this story. It's ridiculous. Half of the Japanese games on Steam are basically cartoon porn. Who gives a rat's ass?! If that's what excites you, go for it. This reminds me of that game that Valve refused to put on Steam years ago--Seduce Me. I never played it, but it's got to be pretty tame compared to a lot of the stuff that's on Steam now.

No, just wondering if Valve has an official position on nudity/porn.

If one game can't be on because of it, better remove all the nudity mods and VNs.

I guess they should remove Twins of the Pasture as well since it contains
Gangbang/prostitution scenes and bestiality with bugs and other monsters even without a patch. The patch just removes the white splashes across the naughty bits.

I like how you either: A. Take one for the team and search all the anime games for the hentai titles. Or B. Knew this game and was like: "I'm gonna file this one in my brain for a situation just like this!"

That's dedication!

The House Party screenshots are about as sexy as mashing two Barbie dolls together but, if creepy Uncanny Valley humping is your thing, then may House Party be resurrected soon.

Last night we fought swarms of aliens in Alien Swarm... uh... something-something.  Hang on.  "Reactive Drop".  I have no idea what a "reactive drop" is but apparently it attracts swarms of aliens.  Anyway, it was pretty okay although whoever thought that you need friendly fire in a twin-stick shooter needs to be beaten with a reactive drop.  Multiple classes to choose from, new unlocks as you level, etc.  It wasn't amazing but we played it for about 90min until the first full party wipe and called it a night.  So if you want an acceptably decent alien shooter for zero dollars, this might be the game for you.

Tonight is the usual Battlefield 1 Friday with zero friendly fire and many more squad wipes.

Sewer Shark was so much fun back in the day: Uh Oh, I'm Ratagator Bait! ;)

Love to be able to play it again without having to have a Sega CD.
