Rumor coming out of Reddit makes it sound like Destiny 2 might be light again on content. I am hoping that isn't true, but I will probably be waiting until the GOTY next year with all the big add ons.

It’ll be interesting to see how Morphite turns out. It’s been in development forever for almost every platform (including mobile). But it looked like a much better No Man’s Sky. While that game has gotten patches to improve it, the bar is still pretty low.

Incredibly poor decision to release it the week of Destiny 2 though.

I imagine the development process has been a constant back-and-forth with stuff that's planned, intended for the base game, Activision wants DLC content, they splice it up or compromise, etc etc. Same thing happened with the first game, and the expansions weren't all that significant either. It was more stuff to do, but hardly worth 1/3 the cost of the base game. Given the fact that there is still a sizeable amount of dedicated players, there's no reason for them to alter the business strategy.

Project spark is still playable, sadly most of the achievements are now unobtainable, I will forever be haunted by my 97% progress on one of them

Here's to hoping Destiny 2 fixes what was wrong with Destiny. I skipped D1 altogether because I was worried Bungle needed to fine tune things. I'm jumping in D2 day 1 because I think it will be like the bump halo 2 had over halo 1......fingers crossed
 
The Destiny 2 Beta felt like more of the same to me. Minor changes here and there but pretty much the same imo. The good thing about Destiny to me has always been the shooting mechanics which are top notch.
Despite my enjoyment of the shooting, I'm passing this time because of the heavy grind required. I just don't have the time or patience for a super grindy game in my life these days.

I played the beta as well and I didn't mind that it was more of the same. My issue will be if there isn't a lot of content. The gameplay in Destiny is solid and I enjoyed it but damn D1 was seriously short on content that they just nickle and dime'd after.

If I wasn't in school, I'd be really interested in D2. I gameshare'd the original with a close friend and we played it at least once a week (often daily) for the first 18 months it was out. I'm also curious to see what Bungie does without the constraints of last-gen hardware, since it was really evident they made a lot of compromises in environmental and game design to accommodate those limitations.

I've found a lot of PVP in other games to be a little alienating if you can't devote hours upon hours to it, but Destiny generally had really great PVP content that was well balanced across classes. I wasn't great at straight-up death matches, but some of the most enjoyable team play for King-of-the-Hill style stuff I've ever played was in D1. The daily and weekly challenges (kill X # of players, etc) kept it interesting and it made it feel like you accomplished something grind-wise even when you lost a match.

Agreed. The level design in Halo CE is really repetitive in some places, especially with the "fight your way in, fight your way out" with multiple rooms which all look identical despite being very linear. The basic mechanics are great, though - there's a reason they haven't changed much since the original.

Does anyone here happen to have any experience in using Amazon trade in? I'm just curious because that's where I tend to do the bulk of my game/game accessories shopping and I have some stuff I wouldn't mind giving up for some gift card credit.

 
The 2018 Xbox Accreditation is up for my fellow ExpertZone peeps. Finish the 4 training quizzes, then click the rocket ship in the top right corner to find the page with the actual code. A free year of Gold if you weren't aware.

I'd hold out to actually see how the content is implemented into Destiny 2 before getting too upset. It sounds like about as much content as D1 at launch, but Bungie clearly got better at structuring content starting with Taken King, which is the same lead dev as D2. I don't the changes are going to be dramatic enough to sway people that had huge problems with the first game though.

Traded in a VCR Xbox couple of months ago with no hiccups. Done many games in the past (until the famous GS trades came around).

Only thing that I've had returned was an iPhone 4. Received a crazy trade in amount and they returned it saying I didn't meet the obligations...I think they just realized it was a wrong trade amount.

That's good to know, actually. I only have a couple of games and maybe a 360 controller or 2 (that I know are all in great shape) to trade in. Probably better to have credit for stuff I want than letting this stuff continue to collect dust.

I traded in the VCR Xbox and had them return it claiming that I had not disabled parental controls, which was false because I never activated them and I made sure to reset the box to default.

I resubmitted and it went through no problem. It takes a few days after they receive it for them to award you the credit.

I have heard that you should not accept the credit immediately, instead choose to get the credit once they receive the trade in. This is because they tend to "find an issue" when you trade it in that way and force you to pay for the credit they already awarded you.

Both Project Sparks and Warface are my proudest completions.

I got the $100 edition of Destiny 2 from GS. Actually OOP cost was much much lower. The beta had more story in it than the entire Destiny 1 game did at launch so I have high hopes for D2.

Thanks, didn't take advantage of it myself because I already have em but I pointed this out to a friend who's just getting the Xbox One S and is a huge RE fan. Made his day! We'll be able to do some Raid Mode together too, awesome.

 
I'm more pumped than I should be for D2 but I'm just trying to stay on the super positive side and hope they got some story kinks all figured out for this one. If the patrolling has as much depth as they're claiming with the adventures and lost sectors and such, it'll be a fun grind once again. Loved the first despite all its flaws. Bungie still knows how to craft a good shooter game, just have to make it worth playing.

Speaking of D2... Best Buy charged me $19.99 the other day after I canceled my preorder. Their cost for Beta access.

I'm gonna be so disappointed if that scorpion tank copy isn't in destiny 2. The limited edition is totally worth 100 and has some neat stuff coming with it(steel book) . I got the ghost edition for d1 and and 150 is decent price for it. D2 collectors edition for 250 is outrageous imo. I hope it'll get better story missions that's fun to replay over and over compared to d1.
 
I'm just hoping the servers for Destiny aren't melting tonight. I actually am able to stay up tonight and play if they aren't overloaded.

When I looked at Microsoft.com, I went from "Holy crap, they have that blue Xbox One I wanted. Sold!" to "Aw crap, it's sold out. Rats!"

Meanwhile, I see the same bundle for $249 at Gamestop without the extra two games. If they even add one additional game (it comes with Gears 4 already), I'll probably buy it.

After agreeing to trade in some games they sent me a shipping label to make shipping free. It was less than a week after they received my games that I got my credit.(total time without credit was probably 7-9 days) I remember my games didn't even have a the game sleeves but they still gave me full credit for them. The credit just appeared in my account one day and I spent it on a xbl credit code a couple days later.
