Maybe this will help. (still too long, I know)

I rescind my whole-hearted recommendation of Destiny 2. I'm not sure the guys in here will like it all that much. The campaign is good, the music is excellent, all-in-all it's a competent game. But it's very much a continuation of Destiny 1. It's the same gameplay motions. And there is a severe lack of content once you put a few dozen hours into the game. Once you get past the first 20-30 hours there is a lot of repetition as well as barriers to your power level progression. There is really not much of an endgame besides grinding levels.

I enjoy it, as do many other Destiny lovers. But there are many valid complaints from the faithful. The overarching issue is this game suffers from large chunks of content being completely carved out from the game to be saved for a future date. This whole cabal theme and raid were supposed to be the last major expansion of Destiny 1, and now they've done it again. There's not much beyond this content. It takes so many manpower hours to program this game that Bungie is primarily concerned with the drip-feed of new content. Players plow through the game at unfathomable rates that Bungie can't release everything at once. However, one thing a lot of non-players probably don't understand is that they do release a ton of free updates.

The strikes (15-20minute 3man dungeons) are excellent this time around but there isn't much incentive to do them. The crucible (mutiplayer pvp) only has two game modes and you can only queue for a random selection. This after Destiny 1 had like six crucible modes you could queue for, individually. The other big gripe is that they took away the "unique rolls" for all of the legendary (purple) guns. So instead of having three columns of random stats and perks, each gun with the same name is identical now. But this time you don't have to level up your guns at all; all of a gun's abilities are unlocked from the start. Many players have earned 60-80% of the guns offered in the game already. There is no longer the hunt to find that perfectly rolled gun; it has been removed from the game. The graphics on the current sets of armor are also very lackluster, which is probably intentional.

Casual gamers that don't mind paying 60 bucks for 40-50 hours of entertainment will have a fantastic experience. It's a very well-produced AAA game. But everything is so properly streamlined now that they have taken away from some of those draconian nuances that made the original game both unfair as well as highly enticing, if that makes any sense. Starting with this week I can guarantee you that concurrent player numbers are going to be down massively as people move on to other games temporarily. Bungie needs to address things immediately and start adding new content and equipment.

Two weeks in and a lot of lifers are already bored and pissed off.
Rushing to the end game like a fatso at a hot dog eating contest, all consuming and no savoring. Complaining that there's no end game. Moving on to another "hit". Rinse and repeat.

--> pretty much my experience

Nice. Yeah I think Frisky in the PSN thread also started a CAG clan too, but I'm already in a Clan with other PS4 players at the moment. Looks like that CAG clan is made up of PS4 and XBOX players. Since there's no cross platform playing it seems kind of pointless to mix the two in one group though.

I decided to have two separate Bungie.net accounts, one linked to PS4 and the other to Blizzard (PC) since I run with two different gamertags. Plus I have very little friend carry over between the two platforms anyway. Finding groups/clans is fairly easy, but I thought I'd just gauge any interest here first.

Man, I haven't touched PUBG or BF1 in quite some time. How's the new Season Pass content for BF1? I saw it went on sale for $29.99 but that's still too tough to stomach. I think I'd rather put that towards potentially picking up Battlefront 2 in November at this point though.

Last night we had the worst turn out for BF1 ever. Only Squatch, Cobol, Juanjava, and then Goose showed up.
Nope. Back around when we were about a month or two into BF1 Fridays, there was a Friday where only me and Parallacks showed up. Syntax showed up later that evening. That was it. It was back when you missed a couple of weeks consecutively and before Cobol was a regular. Weiler was doing his usual Taco Chinese buttsex parties.

I was going to play last night but decided not to, just was not in the mood ultimately and then watched a movie with my wife. I'll play when we're doing the premium maps, but I'm totally burnt out on the base game maps. Missing it due to the hurricane a few weeks ago was helpful so I probably will be playing every other week for a bit. I was thinking we should schedule the premium maps more often to add some variety espc since many of us bought the premium pass and don't play those maps enough. Maybe do a dedicated premium week one Friday and alternate with other more distinct weeks. Maybe schedule operations more often to. I'm done with base game Conquest only for a while.

Its alright. The game is becoming a slog for me and I'm nearing being done with it but want to play the DLC maps more. There's one new map I really like where there's this cathedral in the middle, although the one time we played it we got completely plowed by the other team having the upper hand with armored vehicles. We got pushed back to our base and were just obliterated, but generally I liked the map, but team balancing matters so much in BF1. A lot of the Russian maps are wide open so they're a sniper fest. The winter aspect adds a bit to them though.

I also agree about Battlefront. I'm probably getting it regardless just for the single player campaign, and there's an open beta starting Oct 6th, so will give that a go and decide then. Battlefront's Alpha and Beta got me to get it, so it'll prob happen with 2 again.

Yesterday, premium with friends was on so Goose and I played operations or whatever on the Russian maps.  It was fun.  we got plowed because there was one full squad dominating, but it's still fun.  I like the snowy maps alot.

Keeping in mind I never played Destiny 1, can someone explain how Destiny 2 works?

Open world?  Dungeons?  Is there a decent amount of PvE/party content?  Does it get updates?  Do they have unique 'classes/roles?'  Canz I be a healzorz?

I finally feasted on chicken dinner again after a very long drought!

I landed in a shitty place with a ton of people so I was stuck with looting one house.  Got a SCAR with 30 rounds, a pump shotty with 20 rounds, and a pistol.

I figured I'd loot elsewhere, but everywhere I went there were people shooting and I had no optics.

Got down to 18 people left and I snuck behind a guy and killed.  YES!  I'll loot him I thought, but this guy's only weapon was a revolver and i used up 25 rounds of my 5.56 on this guy.

I steal his motorcycle, make it to the smaller circle and suddenly there's only 4 of us left.

I watch one guy kill another and I take a potshot at him and get lucky and kill him.

There's two of us left near the swamp and I hear someone in the water.  See him peek behind a rock, switch to the shottie, sneak around and pump pump, he's dead.

If you told me I'd win with that shitty loadout, I'd tell you it would never happen, so you never know.

Shirinpitt messaged me for some duo play while I was finishing up the round and something similar happened last time I got chicken dinner so I consider Shirin my good luck charm.

Off Topic: I've been streaming Jackbox games via Twitch as of late; I have my Twitch handle on my profile, how do I go about getting my name on the list of CAG's on Twitch on the front page? A few extra players when I start a stream wouldn't hurt. I have exactly 3 followers so it can be hard to get a game going unless I have friends join.

I mean, are you female? That might be the problem right there. If you are female, you might want to try being a waifu and see if that helps. CAG only sponsors those with lots of followers, after all. If you're not getting internet bukkake'd by lonely men, then you're not supposed to be on Twitch.

Trying out the Depth free weekend. It's actually pretty fun. I wasn't really enjoying shark until my last game when I had 28 kills. But yeah, not sure I'll pay the $5 but hey if it's ever in a bundle, I'm sold.

That's my problem; I was relying on the Twitch donations for the ovary transplant. I didn't realize CAG "sponsors" Twitch streams, I just assumed that if you had a Twitch account tied to your CAG account, and you stream, it pops up there. I'll try harder next time.

Hopefully, fastitocalon will come through and offer you an answer... I found out he was streaming via CAG and he certainly wasn't a female when I was watching him test out the new Forza 7 Demo.

I'm currently transitioning into Fastitocalona, the fair maiden of CAG!

Look for Twitch handle in your profile settings. It is in there somewhere.

I really want to see Battlefront's space combat. I'm hoping it will scratch that X-Wing itch but I suspect it won't...

But, man, if it does...

Ditto. I would have played, but Friday nights are generally not as good for me. On a related note, I have been generally more busy and falling to sleep earlier on the weekdays.

Been playing Overwatch during this Free Weekend. It's been fun, as usual. Whether doing Control Points, Team DM, 8 Person FFA DM, Payload - yep, it's damn good & tons of fun for a MP-based game.

I don’t know what’s wrong with my game but I can’t ever join OW matches anymore. It just sits there and hangs looking for matches. Something like PUBG or Battlefield usually takes less than 20 seconds.

I've been doing mostly Arcade this weekend. Haven't had trouble getting matches especially in 4v4 Team DM.

I've done some Quick-Match that mostly has been Payload - but yeah, I've been doing Arcade section.

So, did you pull the trigger on Mass Effect Andromeda yet? I am choosing to wait until $10. I am still a little disappointed that they decided not to work on single player DLC for this title. Your comments seem to indicate that it is enjoyable for the "vanilla" version. Hopefully, there will be another entry in the franchise later.

@MysterD: what would be you buy in price for Overwatch? (just curious)

I bought ME: Andromeda back when it was $20 on Origin, a month ago or so.

I'm some 41 hours into the campaign and not anywhere close to being finished with it. There's just so much to do - i.e. think like DA:I. ME:A has DAI's open-world land masses thing going on w/ one-off quests everywhere around every corner. If you don't like the way DAI handled that stuff - chances are, you'll not like how ME:A deals with that either; it's very similar.

Combat's great. Fast, furious, and kinetic. You can't sit in cover long, or they try to kill you or get you to move out of cover. They're do their skills, toss grenades, destroy cover, whatever - they won't hesitate to do, if you sit it cover too long. If you want to live here - you can move to another cover, dodge, use your jump-jets to zip around, or whatever. It's a blast, IMHO.

It takes a while for the story to go anywhere. And even when it does, it's more plotlines than anything...so, don't expect depth; especially early on. Same goes for most characters, also. You spend so much time on Eos building that planet up, so you spend a lot of time there early on...so this has the DAI Hinterlands issue. Like DAI w/ The Hinterlands, once Eos is built-up enough and you can leave - LEAVE. The game-worlds, hubs, and planets really open-up once you get off Eos. And the main story doesn't really kick in until you leave Eos anyways.

ME:A looks great, runs great, plays great - but the lack of story depth & character stuff hurts it. Even with that being the case, it has that "I have to do one more quest b/c I barely walk and drive and keep running into them" mentality - and if you find that addicting, ME:A certainly has that going for it...and is the reason even after 41 hours, I'm still going strong with it.

About Overwatch purchase-price - I dunno. $20 at most or more likely less - since it's a Blizz game and since their games take forever to drop in price. I like it a lot, but I'm not sure if it's a game I can really stick around with. It's fine for an hour or 2 here or there, but that's it.

D-Va and Pharah (spelling?) seem to be my real go-to characters here.

You can't tell me what to do, you're not even my real dad.
Well, you could probably go about it other ways, I'd guess.

You could over a friend's house who has MEA; copy their 48GB folder of ME:A onto a few BR's on an external hard drive; copy ME:A from external to your internal; boot-up Origin; let Origin finish-up the ME:A install; activate your retail box's ME:A key on Origin once it arrives; and then be good to go.

Either way, whether you download it from Origin or grab the files from a friend, you just don't get any discs in the retail copy to install the game from. So, you can't go that route if you buy a retail box; it's just the way it is. Blame EA and BioWare, if you wish.

I guess this went under radar completely

http://store.steampowered.com/app/719690/Ghost_Recon_Wildlands_Ghost_War_Open_Beta/

It's a pvp game mode for ghost recon.

Your pc can only run it if you have a processor of ghost recon and os of ghost recon

EA, unlike shitty Steam, actually lets you start playing a lot of games before you fully download them, so that is inaccurate, you don't have to DL the entire game.

Steam has become bloated, unfeeling and unapproachable (just like Gabe).

I am still on a lookout for the best PC PLATFORM to come (maybe Battle.net with Blizzard superior support)

Blizzard Battle.Net does that too.

Not that I use that feature or anything.

It won't be Blizzard. Just wait until Bethesda Launcher finally comes into its own....

Stupid Question from a Stupid Person:

Hi all.

I'm considering purchasing a new Nvidia GPU.  If I remember correctly, typically during the Fall there are promotions for the upcoming games that holiday season: buy a new card, get two or three free games, etc.  (It seemed like titles from Warner Brothers, Ubisoft, and Square Enix were frequently involved.)

My question - is that kind of promotion still a thing?  What month do those usually happen?  October?  ...Wondering how long I should wait, or for that matter...if I should even bother waiting.

Thanks in advance!

Steam actually supported that first with Half-Life 2 more than 10 years ago, but support was dropped in 2013. :p

I believe they had Destiny 2, but it ended last week.

But there's promos pretty much constantly.

Also, It's very rare to be multiple games included. Even if it's selection 1 of x.

Rather sad news if true... Valve can make money anyway they want to, and I guess they really don't owe us (players of video games) anything, but it would be nice to see them let their employees focus on making video games (even just small ones) instead of just counting the company's money.

Isn't their current 'project' a card game based on DOTA?  Guess they want to carve into that Hearthstone market.  Anyway, Valve as a developer is dead.  They can't even be bothered to work on something as simple as another L4D or Portal game.

Ask yourself this: How many games in the last five or so years have you played on PC that wasn't also on a console?

As pointed out the most recent Nvidia promotion ended recently (Destiny 2). There will likely be one announced within the next few weeks. It could be announced at any time. Typically they'll do 1 or 2 different ones based on the level of cards i.e. lower level cards will get the weaker one with perhaps some decent indie style games (1050-60) and higher level/more expensive cards will get the AAA quality (1070-80).

Multiple games are VERY rare. The current AMD promotion is a multiple game one, but there are sometimes choices i.e. the last few years they've (NVidia) have done promotions with Ubisoft and with those mostly had choices available, however sometimes it's only a single title take it or leave it (i.e. Metal Gear Solid/Batman Arkham Knight/Destiny 2). Don't expect multiple games, but I totally expect a Fall/Winter Nvidia promotion to be announced soon, probably in early October.

As for this year, I think something around the new Assassin's Creed is a possibility if they're sticking with Ubisoft which has been the case the past few winters. Ubi does not have a lot of releases this fall, so choice will be limited if they are with Ubi. My guess would be an Ass Creed one very soon and then in the late winter/spring they'll do a choice one with South Park, The Crew 2, and Far Cry. They could potentially do that in Fall/Winter as well just a long wait for the release. Note that if they do one with Ubi, it will be a uPlay only title, not Steam. As for what other titles are possibilities, it completely depends what GPU company particular devs/pubs are working with i.e. Bethesda is with AMD right now, which has the Prey/Wolfenstein twofer promo going on now. Not sure about Nvidia beyond Ass Creed.

Square Enix largely has been with AMD as of late. The AMD Silver/Gold Rewards were always a lot of Squeenix titles.

Two things I learned today.

1) It's possible to have too many activation attempts on steam keys even when you're using valid/unused keys. The limit is apparently 50 keys before getting sent to timeout for an hour.

2) While in that hour long timeout, you can't even buy anything directly from the steam store. Apparently that counts as an activation attempt. Which, seems kinda nuts. But, whatever.

Not sure how many times that I'll find myself in that situation again. But now I know, I guess.
