If anyone was curious what games had dynamic resolutions on the 360 there was only a handful. Brink, DOA5, Ninja Gaiden 3 and TT2. I have a feeling I'm missing another one. The only important BC one was Tekken Tag Tournament 2, so curious how much better that's going to look on the X. Edit: Looks like Syndicate is dyanmic resolution but not BC yet.

I'm re-downloading The Division trial just to see how it looks when the patch goes up.

I got shipment info from the MS store and It's supposed to be here tomorrow by 8pm Eastern from Fedex.

Was going to sell my Scorpio and just buy the regular one, but the profit on the Scorpio has gone down enough recently that I'll probably keep it since it barely seems worth the hassle of selling. Either way, pretty excited for Tuesday.

Ya not a big deal for us gamers, digital promo marketing materials can be modified but just realized all the $ wasted on the physical promo marketing campaign materials MS had to dump about "Project Scorpio is the smallest Xbox ever!!" coz they couldn't make the XB1X tinier than the XB1S on all sides... the console design engineering team probably took that hit I guess. Better if they just had mentioned it be the most powerful console ever & drop the size aspect from the beginning...

XB1S is 11.6x8.9x2.5 inches
XB1X is 11.8x9.5x2.4 inches

Anyone else besides .Beowulf had any issues with games being deleted if u cancel the autoupdates/patches o_O I don't want to download my entire library again on my slow as molasses internet here in the middle of nowhere =(

Haven't gamed on my offline XB1S in days coz of these forced patches/updates & also coz MS hasn't given us a way to force sync achievements earned offline yet. I have achievements that refuse to unlock after redoing them while online & probably permanently stuck locked now =(

If you have started an update download and it has moved from the "updates" section to the "queue" section, even if you've just downloaded 1MB, if you cancel it will always unistall the entire game. You're better off making sure auto updates are off and never starting a download unless you're certain you want to finish it if hard drive space or data caps are a concern.

If you have started an update download and it has moved from the "updates" section to the "queue" section, even if you've just downloaded 1MB, if you cancel it will always unistall the entire game. You're better off making sure auto updates are off and never starting a download unless you're certain you want to finish it if hard drive space or data caps are a concern.

Now the issue I have left before I take my XB1S back online is the enhancements that are being disguised as forced updates/patches & quits the game if u don't download them...completely redonkulous =(

 
Anyone using a Seagate Backup Plus 4TB for their X1? Rakuten has it on sale for its DOTD for $79.99. Not sure if I like that it’s got a power cord though. I have too much shit plugged in by my TV as it is.
 
Every HDD that's ever failed me or died has been a Seagate. Anecdotal, but the last time it came up on a forum, ~20 other people said the same thing. Take that for what you will.

It’s fine. So long as you really don’t need to move 4TB around if you take your box.

It’s actually nice that it looks like a piece of the entertainment console not just a random hard drive.

I took one for the team

took a few days to redownload 3 big ass games (200+gig)

and I never had the 4k thing enabled nor do I have an X

bout to leave this mother effer off for a few weeks to let any weirdness get worked out so I don't take any more to the knee

also all of my externals for consoles are seagate 5tb with the power cord, no issues thus far and intend to buy the 8tb ones down the road if they get cheaper just to add to the anecdotes

Well, Polygon trashed Sonic Forces (5/10). If reviews continue that way, that’s a good thing. I don’t need to buy another game this month! (Except dirt cheap ones, of course)

Looks like ESO and Elite will both run at native 4k

ESO X1X Patch notes:

  • Native 4K resolution
  • Upgraded shadows with Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
  • Upgraded water reflections
  • Increased view distance
Elite Dangerous notes:

  • Elite Dangerous runs in native 4K @ 3840×2160 on Xbox One X if set to 4K mode.
  • All I can say specifically regarding framerate is that Xbox One X owners will see greatly increased performance over a standard Xbox One whether they play at 1080p or 4K. We try to always give players the best possible framerate and adapt it to the content in the scene.
 
ESO is generally a pretty ugly ass game. Doubt 4K is going to help that.

Wish the Skyrim update would hit before ESO TBH.

Yup, same here. The only HDD to ever crap out on me was a Seagate. I'd avoid them.

There's always some really good deals on better quality HDD's for Black Friday... It's just around the corner so I'd wait for that.

Welp, too late. Already grabbed it since a few others didn’t have issues with this specific product line from Seagate (the ones with the power cord). Fingers crossed it works well for me.

Edit: I was still able to cancel. I’ll see what else comes along.

The 4TB drive I got from Best Buy 5-6 months ago works great, and it's been on sale a lot since. I paid $105 and it came with a $25 GC. I think that model or line is exclusive to Best Buy and they put them on sale pretty often. It's currently $120:

Didn't see this elsewhere, but I was looking at Elite controllers on GameStop's website (if I'm gonna buy an expensive console I might as well buy an expensive controller, right?) and it appears that you get $40 off the Elite if you buy it with a One X. I have enough credit to cover both, although according to the website my store is the only one in the area that doesn't have any Elites (ugh). Hoping if I call and ask they can figure something out.

You’d think if BB was smart they would have been doing some decent external HD sales along with the X release, basically trying to upsell knowing people will need them.

Just buy whatever you want. The WD 2TB drive is pretty popular but if you look here at Amazon 1 star reviews there's 264 talking about the drive dying within months. Hard drives fail, some people are going to be unlucky.

I'll be getting a 4TB on BF so i'll be waiting till then.

Already have a 1TB and a 2TB. Want to get a 4TB to replace the 1TB.

But BF probably will be the better option. Definitely looking for $80 or better for a 4TB. I would prefer BB in case I get a DOA for easier exchange.

my point was that no matter what brand you get, there will be plenty of reviews about it dying even though it might not fail for you.

BB actually had a 4TB seagate for $70 last month(source), so it's definitely possible.

Certainly there will be a failure rate for anything. Worth noting that a comparable Seagate drive has 13% 1-star reviews compared to 7% on the drive you linked.

I know my experiences are anecdotal, but I used to be really into PC gaming and had multiple Seagate drives fail on me. Never happened with WD drives, short of them being so old that it was a reasonable lifespan issue and not crashing after 2-3 years.

 
I do tend to think internal PC drives that are being used constantly have higher failure rates.

I didn’t mention it earlier because frankly I couldn’t remember. But am home for lunch and both of my current external HDs are Seagate and no issues with either of those so far.

Only issue is my memory.

I picked up the Seagate 8tb about a month ago in preparation for my X. Got it for 160 through Amazon. 20 bucks per TB seemed like a great buy. Haven't had issues with it OR my 3TB Seagate that I got at launch. Both have a power cord, as I read somewhere that failure rates are better on ones with their own power supply, and I don't make a habit of moving it around anyway.
 
I also tend to avoid Seagate hard drives, but when it comes to external portable drives, keep in mind that all Western Digital portable drives have circuit boards where the usb interface is soldered on.  This prevents the disk from being used as an internal drive, but more importantly, makes it tough to get your data off if there is a board failure.  Last time I checked, some Seagate models still had the traditional SATA interface so you can pop the drive into another enclosure if necessary.

This isn't as much of an issue for the Xbox since most everything can be re-downloaded, and saves are mirrored to the cloud, but still something to be aware of.  Main thing for portable drives is to give them good ventilation, don't move them while in use, and don't abuse them while in transit.  Common sense really, but it seems some potion of the negative reviews out there stem from people who don't understand that just because a drive is marketed as portable, doesn't mean it can violate the laws of physics.

 
Just got the FF XV update to hit. Now up to 12 games ready for X on my S externals. Really is 14 because I think both AC: Origins and CoD WW 2 have had their updates but aren’t showing up as “enhanced” using the drop down for some reason.

Seagate HDDs are fine, all externals die pretty often, they are just a bit more popular so you here about it more, the one I have that's seagate has yet to go bad at all.
