I don't know, the announcement that it would last through the year and then a few days later firing everyone and abruptly ending the game screams bad management.
It's possible the announcement caused a combination of existing players:

a) leaving to find another game

b) ceasing all expenditure on the game.

If the original ending estimate was based on current game income, and current game income basically dropped to 0 overnight due to the announcement, the CEO may have had his cards forced. Still terrible. But remotely understandable - you can't pay people till christmas with fumes.

They stopped all in game purchases and made it all free. If they wanted to continue to generate revenue, this decision was incredibly stupid. Again, the aftermath of this says bad management.

They also pulled the game (and any sort of dlc/bundle type stuff) down from the store alongside the announcement of it shutting down/all the items/characters going free, can't even play it now unless you've downloaded it in the past.

Last year it did start on Thanksgiving Day, but not sure what time it started.

Can you show it to me? Or did he just post last years as an example?
yeah let me scroll through all the pages in the past few days for you..... cause you can't.

(And yes, it was this years post)
Here

To hopefully put an end to this question that's been asked for the past few days despite being answered. There's the sale today for most of the Black Friday deals and there will be a Flash Sale on Thursday that goes through the weekend.

I’ve been making steps to go all digital on everything, from games to movies to music, and now with the imminent death of net neutrality, I think I fucked up.

If Net Neutrality is overturned by the FCC, you can say goodbye to online gaming, Netflix and every other streaming service unless you want to pay far out the ass for it. If ISP's institute data caps like they do with cell phones it will also hurt small business. Hopefully the public outcry and the backing of all the big online corporations like Facebook,Twitter,Google, and Netflix amongst others will force legislation, if that mouthbreather who now heads the FCC gets rid of Net Neutrality. But with Corporate sorry meant Republican Congressional control not likely.

As I've said before

I went all digital this gen since you have to install everything anyways, and even a few games where the disc is little more than an access key, meaning you have to download 50% or more of the game to play.

Along with the idea that the less I use the drive, the longer the system will last due to wear and tear...

Though you may have a point with this.

Yeah, I’m not happy about that. I stream Netflix 4K regularly and all those massive downloads, especially with my X1X. Also have lots of movies on Vudu.

Know it’s probably a done deal but hope ISPs are reasonable about it. Or I’ll definitely be voting for someone to change it back!

Never give up the good fight.
In this day and age the net is a utility more than a service.

I wouldnt bank on Comcast or Verizon or Cox being reasonable about it. If history is any indication they will do everything they can to turn the internet into something akin to cable. Anyone who is not wealthy should not vote Republican unless its a reasonable Republican and not a free market fanatic. The Democrats are not much better in a lot of things. But at least they do not want to throw clean air and water regulations out the window and let corporations do whatever they want to maximize profits at the expense of public health and well being.

Flint, Michigan is run by Democrats and look at how clean their water is...

After thinking about it, it won’t really affect my gaming as much, but streaming movies, I might have fucked up with that one.

Flint, Michigan is the result of the Republican Governor changing where they get their water supply from and covering up the contamination from Flint.

Once the ISPs start charging $10/month to access PornHub, there will be riots in the streets.

The city changed the water supply. They were supposed to go to a clean pipeline alternative but instead diverted the water supply to the Flint River. No one but them had authorized that and it was a grave mistake on their part.

You're gonna say that after Scott Pruitt replaced his Science Advisory Panel with industry lobbyists, and is destroying the EPA from the inside. Not surprising considering he sued them 14 times as AG of Oklahoma. A mining CEO called him about repeling a law in Alaskan in regards to water quality and next thing you know a memo was passed through the EPA and that regulation was done away with. Just one phone call from a CEO to the head of the EPA and an environmental law done away with, so a mining corporation can gain more profit. Anyway, sorry back to games. Whats up with Amazon this black friday?

So let’s get rid of regulations entirely? I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make here.
...Snyder... The asshole who even after getting denied in a vote, still found a way to force a multi billion dollar bridge on the tax payers...

(Michiganer here, now living in MA)

There a lot of very large corporations who will not be happy if they repel Net Neutrality. I wonder if this could end up in court. And Sony, Microsoft, and every third party publisher should be worried about this, especially E.A..

I live in a blue state and have seen much damage done to the environment from the Democrats. It's not a partisan issue....both parties have wrecked the environment.
And what does this have to do with the conversation? Shouldn’t you be outraged at whoever is destroying the environment? Why do you feel the need to say “Democrats do it too!” when someone is talking about how this administration is raping the environment?
