Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

You know a few games I like to see get rebooted and remastered would be dino crisis and the legacy of kain games. Id love to Revisit soul reaver again.

I had a few minutes before work this morning and thought I’ll play a quick couple games of Fortnite. Start it up and it needs a 9 GB update. No problem I’ll just start the download and play a quick match of Overwatch. Start it up and bam it needs an 18 GB update.

I decided just to go on in to work. No update required.
That used to happen to me every time I started up Killer Instinct. I have played Rayman Legends or Shovel Knight so much while waiting for updates on what I turned it on to play. Turn on Auto Update and leave your console on standby if that is an option and it should keep things up to date for quick play sessions.

loved dino crisis

I've said a long time that I wish they would make a dino crisis/ farcry hybrid

which essentially would be just a badass Jurassic park game in farcry 3 style

Injustice 2 Legendary Edition is $48 on XBL.

Tempting price for the legendary edition. I'm kinda thinking if I continue to wait for the summer sale it could possibly be a bit cheaper.
It's on my list of games to get and it does have all the content now. Oooh the choices lol.

You can add me to the list of people who got their MS rewards accounts unbanned. Used the form below yesterday afternoon. They emailed once since then saying their looking into it and as of this morning I'm able to access the MS Rewards dashboard for the first time since being banned.

Here's the link to the form that was posted many pages ago for anyone who needs it. (btw thank you for posting it whoever you were.)

so it seems the vanilla copy of morrowind gives access to the DLC when played via BC like how borderlands 1 does, pretty great since the GOTY edition hal always been quite a bit more expensive then the original, sold my goty copy a awhile go and just have vanilla left

Nice. Have a copy coming Monday.

windows sonic or dolby atmos opinions? I use a hyperx cloud alpha headset if that helps
I have the same headset and bought dolby atmos for headphones at launch, i like it. I think it's like $15 and sometimes goes on sale for $12. If you get the app they have a few demos so you can actually test it out though, they might even have a free trial? I can't remember.

Thanks man I do believe they have a demo. Love this headset its so nice. How do you like atmos for it?

I was debating between WRC 6 and 7 and Grid 2, and I see WRC 6 listed as local multiplayer and WRC 7 listed as local multiplayer and ''shared/split screen''. But since WRC 6 isn't listed this way, does this mean no split screen?

Finished Deadpool for a second time last night (this time on the X1) and I am really surprised it has such a low aggregate score (~60). It is not the most exciting action game and it sometimes runs a little shitty but Nolan North as Deadpool makes this a fun time and that is worth at least an 8/10 for me.

That was one of the games that made me stop paying attention to reviews for good. I honestly don't give a shit about Metacritic or any other site when it comes to reviews. It was Deadpool and Ryse that got me to decide to just play what I want and make my own evaluation.

Well, as nice as it is for Phil to say that, it doesn’t make me hopeful of a big new first party announcement at E3. The whole it will “take time” seems like a cop out.

He talks a good game, but at the end of the day, MS goes with whatever is trending. If a game can't be monetized, or if it can't be a GaaS, they seem hesitant to invest in it. Sony puts out these one and done single player games, and they sell millions of copies, and they're happy with that. Microsoft wants more than just copies sold. They want a long term revenue stream. I understand it's a business, but, that has to stop. We need story driven action games with iconic characters, like Master Chief and Marcus Fenix.

The only thing I'd argue is that McCaffery is kind of a known idiot and kiss ass, love the Xbox but to say that Sony just started making good 1st party games now in the last 10 years could be one of the dumbest statements on twitter. I guess the PS1 to some extent and for sure the PS2 didn't exist. These 1st party Sony games are going to happen, it's just how it is. Where Microsoft has regressed is in working deals with 3rd party development a ton since the 360 days, and Sony is just killing that now. It's not so much the God of War or Uncharted games that are killing it, but where the hell is stuff like Bloodborne, Nier, Yakuza or Nioh, or smaller titles like Undertale or Guacamelee 2. When Street Fighter V was announced that it was a Sony exclusive I remember Phil tweeted he was going to make up for that. He still hasn't fixed anything.

That's for sure what I took away from it, I'm not expecting miracles at E3, there will be announcements for sure but unless they are wholly paying for exclusives it's not going to be amazing anytime soon.

This.

Xbox honestly have nothing first party that I am interested in. What does it even have other than Halo, Gears, Forza, and State of Decay?

well, they tried giving us good single player stuff like Quantum Break, Ryse, and Sunset Overdrive, but nobody bought them...or seemed to like them, even though they were all, at the very least, GOOD games, if nothing mind blowing. You can see why they don't seem to embrace the idea of putting money into single player games when the Xbox fanbase seems to be way more into multiplayer stuff. Sony gamers have the "single player only" demographic locked down.

I thought Quantum Break was one of the most underwhelming games I have played in a while. I never played Ryse, but Sunset Overdrive was pretty fun for a while.

I still think that is a weak output. If I recall correctly, they didn't make it very easy for independent developers either. I hope they will step it up because the Xbox is all I have right now.

I like all those titles and I don't know if Ryse and Sunset Overdrive did all that poorly, loved Dead Rising 3, but like all of their non main franchises they were just published by them, not internally developed. I don't think it's true that a single player experience can't sell on the Xbox One, Ori and Cuphead (okay it's co-op if you feel like punching someone sitting next to you) did really well even as smaller titles and with those and stuff like Recore, Voodoo Vince:Remastered, Scream Ride, Super Lucky's tale they seem to heavily favor this B-tier single player experience. Again all just published by them. I wish they'd toss some money into acquiring some internal studios and really try to make something AAA in the coming years that isn't Halo, Gears, or Forza. Won't happen overnight but needs to start now.

Same things will come up when Spiderman comes out and I'm not totally down on MS, the BC and just embracing the fact that "Xbox" is a platform not just one console and I can revisit the games going forward is really great, like going back to Red Dead this week, or playing Gears of War 4 on my pc. They are still light years ahead of Sony on what they offer as value when it comes to that.

Give Microsoft's track record, what do you guys think is the likelihood of an Xbox One X S/E/update model down the line?
100% I think the plan is now you just play Xbox games and they scale to what hardware you play on, I don't think there is going to be an announcement one day of Xbox Two, but new console iterations will happen every few years or so. I'm great with that, bought OG Xbox Ninja Gaiden Black as a digital title the day I picked up my 360 12 years ago and it showed up in ready to install list when it was announced it was going to the BC program on Xbox One. I just hope their contracts with other publishers now have this in mind so we don't have to sit around and wait for permissions and what not. I'm hopeful that's the case going forward.

my buddy is a closet ps4 fanboy and continuously writes off ryse as "basically just a tech demo" because it's gorgeous but not a 40-hour long game. i had to throw that line back at him about god of war today :)

PS: I want to play god of war. it looks like quite a technical achievement.

Reviews are so subjective. I felt the same way about The Punisher for Xbox. It got low 70s scores, but as a fan I loved it. It played great as a Max Payne clone, it had a great story, and it had great fan service. I often look at review scores for an idea and then scan a few reviews for the specifics and judge whether I think they are valid complaints or silly. Reviews often hammer the current WRC games for not having more variety of cars, but they have all of the cars raced in the WRC.

I liked Sunset Overdrive a lot.

I still have high hopes for this E3. I just don't know of any studios working on games for Xbox besides Halo 6, Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 5, Ori 2, Ashen, the rumored Fable, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, and Rare just did Sea of Thieves so they will be doing content for that for a while I imagine.

A new Ninja Gaiden exclusive might be cool but I don't know who makes it.

I hated everything about that game. Didn't enjoy the gameplay and it was cheesy as fuck.

Give Team Ninja all the money, they did Nioh for Sony and PC and it turned out great. Had a relationship in the past so maybe it can be salvaged...

There was some confirmation that unannounced Bioshock is being worked on at 2k, but I'd put that highly unlikely for any kind of Xbox exclusive

I saw a rumor that a Splinter Cell game was supposed to be in the BC announcement but was held back. Given that the SC mission in Wildlands supposedly makes it sound like a new game may be coming, they’re probably holding it for that.

How cool would it be if MS inked a deal with Ubisoft for a Splinter Cell exclusive or even just a timed exclusive? That would be pretty big.

And Shenmue 1& 2 for PS4 just got announced.

Shenmue 1 & 2 for everything but switch just got announced. PS4 only in Japan.

You mean like the first Splinter Cell? Either way I'm down for it and would look best on the Xbox One X

one problem microsoft has is that when sony buys exclusiviety on a third party game (sfV, tons of popular small studio games guacamelee 2, spelunky 2 etc) no one cares but when MS tries it, Tomb raider, everyone freaks the hellout, its a lose lose situation for them

Another thing Xbox is missing, a ton of those Sega properties built the OG Xbox, they let that go too

Who cares if people freak out, go out and actually do it

You can buy next week's BC Xbox games on your pc microsoft store now. Can't play them unless you have a 360, but you can buy them.

The Shenmue announcement is hilarious.

Why? Because as of right now they are just re-worked ports with new UI and controls.

If Shenmue 2 XBox was BC it would be near native 4k and performance improvements.

Instead we are getting what looks to be at the moment barebones ports.

Granted getting Shenmue 1 is nice as are achievements.
But we still aren't getting Shenmue 3 unless It ends up being timed console exclusive.

This. So much this. I remember PS4 people shitting a brick when Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive, saying they were going to boycott, etc. Now that GoW and Spiderman are coming out, comment sections everywhere are just shitting on Xbox owners, saying they hope Xbox dies a painful death. The only thing PS4 wins is the most toxic fanbase of this generation.
