Digital wise, yes the PS store is a great option to buy a game at a discount when they are discounted. PS+ not only gives you like 10% more in discount, you get those “free” games too. I have a Pro but since I mostly buy PS4 exclusives and the majority of them are single player, I haven’t renewed PS+ in awhile. But BF is coming up so I may snag a PS+ sub if the price is right. And you should link your PSN account to Sony Rewards, you get points back from buying from the PS store and you can use those points when you get enough to redeem PSN gift cards.

Just in case, after linking your PSN account to a Sony Rewards one, don't forget to enable the 3 trophy passes so you can earn points for getting new trophies.

10 platinums net you a 1000 points, 25 gold = 250 points, and 100 silver = 100 points. A code for $10 psn credit is 1000 points. I think its been said you can get each rewards ten 12 times? I know when I finished the gold one, my counter started over.

There's also a pass you can enable where they'll give you a 15% off coupon if you try out the 4 different psn services (ps+, vue, now, music). Just make sure to disable auto renewal & cancel before they end so you don't get charged.

edit: Lastly, if you watch a Sony movie at the theaters, you can submit the stub for 200 points and each movie can be submitted twice. The movie "Searching" was the last one I did and submissions expire 9/17. The next ones should be "White Boy Rick" which comes out tomorrow and then "Venom" in Oct. The ways to earn section will have more details in case they change.

You might be making a mistake. Valkyria Chronicles 4 has been getting great reviews. It’s considered the best entry since the 1st game or at least on par with it.

Valkyria Revolution was an abomination. Was an action not even strategy RPG.

You can earn up to 12 per calendar year. So far, I've netted all 12 gold rewards, 8 silvers and 5 platys. It definitely pays to sign up.

To be fair, I actually CAN'T link my Sony rewards account because every time I try to sign into my PSN, I get Captcha and after 14 attempts of trying to prove I am not a robot, I'm giving up....

Sounds EXACTLY like what a robot would say....

 
I hate those Recaptchas. I can't even log into either the PS App or the PS Messenger App anymore because you have to enter you login information and then click a checkbox to make a captcha pop up, but it never, ever pops up anymore. But of course, it's sooo important to have a captcha built into mobile apps for all those robots who own cell phones.  Grrr...

 
I had all kinds of trouble with recaptcha on Chrome, so much so that I would load up Edge to get past them.  They would either say try again even though I correctly identified all the busses etc. Or the captcha would get a check mark, I would hit submit, and then get an error that captcha wasn't corect.

I recently switched to Firefox and now they go through on the first try.  Which is funny since recaptcha is powered by Google.  I have had a ton of other things broken in Chrome that are just smooth in Firefox.  Wish I had migrated sooner.

 
Anyone know how long the Playstation Gear store has been down? Went to check to see if they happen to sell any Detroit merch, but it just has a text box asking for your email address to be notified for when it goes back up.

My copy from Bestbuy arrived on Wednesday, but I haven't started the first two games in this trilogy, so on the shelf it sits for a while.

Its not exactly down its being restructured or improved or some crap lol. It will be back up “soon”. Guess they’ll let us know by email (and then proceed to flog us with merchandise spam mail until we’re forced to unsubscribe).

That seems strange to me. Why did you pre-order if you haven't even played the other 2 yet? Unless you got like a super limited edition copy.

Two reasons. The first is that it's the steelbook version that includes the Season Pass. Who knows how long it will take before it drops to a decent price, and with the discount plus $10 back in points, it may be the lowest I'd be able to get it for a while. The second is that my girlfriend isn't a gamer and is cheaper than anyone on this site, and since we're talking about tying the knot, I should get in my big purchases while I can.

Btw, why is the Sony Rewards site still such a mess of timeout errors, unsecured login pages, etc? It seems like almost every time I use it, it's a hassle or feels sketchy. It's especially fun if you have a Playstation/Sony credit card, as the sketchy site sometimes asks you to enter your credit card and the last 4 digits of your SS# for verification before letting you look at your account or use points. Every time I do, I feel like, "Oh man. I shouldn't be doing this."

To this day my account / that site is so messed up I cannot enroll. Similar to how I've never been actually able to get the weekly emails (for the occasional 20% codes) despite trying everything multiple times over the years.

Yeah. I always do that and have a unique login for it, but it still baffles me how a rewards site tied to PSN accounts and credit card accounts could even have a non-secure front page login and not even care about fixing it. Like you said, it feels like another breach waiting to happen.
