I accidentally made a large, ill-advised purchase on PSN this weekend. I say "accidentally" because I meant to wait until next week to see if there was anything else to spend the 20% off code on. Anyway, what's done is done, so I'll be reviewing a few VR titles here (more to come) for those who prefer words to videos.
PSVR: HALLOWEEN EDITION (PART 1)
Restless Spirit: This wasn't on sale but it's been on my interest list for awhile. Basically it's a live-action VR short film with minimal interaction. You use the headset to "look" at hotspots, so it's essentially Where's Waldo. The damn thing didn't even last 10 minutes. I went back and played it several times (got my money's worth) to see if there were any other scenes I missed (there was), but I'm stuck at 94% completion and not sure what's left to do. The video quality itself looks poor and flat; 3D VR porn is still waves ahead of this game.
18 Floors: More like 2 Floors; I didn't realize this game was unfinished when I played it. Once you get to the third floor, it's
To Be Continued. Apparently future levels will come in the form of DLC, but not sure whether it'll be free or paid. At any rate, it's your basic "escape room"-type puzzle game, much like
The Rabbit Hole (which itself only consists of one level). The first floor was good and I enjoyed it, but the second floor threw all logic out the window and I struggled like hell before succumbing to walkthrough. Still, I thought I had 16 floors to go...
The Walker: Probably the best of this first batch, which isn't saying much. A generic, static 360° wave-shooter with only 5 levels, which can be beaten on three difficulties. You switch between a firearm and broadsword (which get upgraded through difficulty cycles) and can apply magic to either for special attacks. I found this game competent and fun, although I quickly got bored of the opening and closing animations for each stage which can't be skipped. At best, this is another
Brookhaven Experiment. (Oh, and I got one 0.0% trophy that I'm excited about.)
Please don't admonish my purchases because I've already done that enough to myself.

I should have a few more to share before the sale period is over.
