I got my son a copy for the Switch and me one for the Xbox for Xmas. We have fun playing co-op on the Xbox and playing solo on our own systems. Plenty of stuff to do in the game though not very challenging...on par with Lego and Skylander games. I've always been a sucker for spaceship games, so I have fun just playing.

The thing we like the most are the toys. My son never played with the Skylander or Infinity toys as just toys. To us, they were just little statues, not action figures. But the ships are cool and you can swap out pilots, guns, and wings too.

My only complaint is the mount that sits on the controller as it makes things a bit cramped. I use a stick extender on my controller usually, but I have to remove it when playing because it hits the mount. The ships are pretty big too so they add weight. However, you can just plug everything in one time and the game will let you play them digitally for a week.

I bought at $35 plus GCU, so I paid $28 and don't regret it.

Edit: Just bought the last two pilots we didn't have for $4.63 total including tax. Store pick up knocks a dollar off each starlink item. $4 after 50% off, $3.19 after GCU, $2.19 after pick up discount.

Starlink is actually $30/$24 GCU in the ad.  For anyone buying this, make sure you open it to check (instead of throwing it on the literal backlog pile still sealed) because there are many reports of people getting physical starter packs that are missing the disc, and you will have to contact Ubisoft to get it resolved.

 
So I am unable to find out this information so I figured I would ask here.  If we return an item purchased with GCU will I be able to rebuy that item without it getting me banned?  The exameple I am trying to figure out is that this year I have purchased 3 copies of COD:BLOPS 4, but I have returned 2. Am I still able to buy 2 for GCU without getting banned?

That's an easy answer. Me and one of my friends have GCU. We only need 4 of the 6 allotted copies of any game that we need. This time we got 2 extra copies of cod:blops 4 for whatever weird reason that we needed (I don't remember). So one of us returned 2 copies that weren't actually needed.

 
My GC expires on the 22nd so I'm fine with anyone else using it if they need to. I'm wondering if I shouldn't move my copy of RE2 deluxe to shipping rather than store pickup though, just in case.

Shipping or In Store Pickup still give the GCU if you preorder before it expires. In store preorders where you make payment in store won’t have GCU since it’s not finalized until pickup. Just make sure your credit/debit card doesn’t get compromised or declined after GCU expires.

In regards to pre orders I still can’t seem to find far off dates (like I saw a few guys pre order titles over a year away)....how do you pre order distant titles

how do you locate or pre order titles like that or that are TBD??

I seem to recall reports of Best Buy nullifying entire reward accounts based solely on GCU abuse, so be careful if you intend to keep shopping there after your GCU expires.
 
I got the Spyro crash combo pack for Christmas and I’m digging both so far. The only problem with crash is that the original game physics werent duplicates so some levels like “road crash” in warped are harder than they were in the original. Some frustrating moments to be had lol

So I preordered KH3 back in Oct before my GCU expired and my order doesn't mention the $10 reward cert and the keychain preorder bonuses. Will I still get the preorder bonuses or would I have to cancel and order again and miss out on the GCU discount.

Does anyone know if the 25% off coupons for GC ending are still going out? I never got one; I know they were supposed to expire in February so I'm wondering if I shouldn't call their help line to ask about it.

Weirdly, I just got mine an hour ago. Glad I didn't have to nag anyone about it! Expires in July so there's plenty of time for me to find something to buy with it; would do RE2 deluxe but it's already paid for thanks to gift cards.

 
So they send that 25% code out right at the end of your GCU sub? I have a month left.. trying to decide what i want to use it one when it comes. (Stack it with GCU preferably)

Be warned that the link in the email that leads to the coupon expires pretty quick. I got my email in November I think, which is when my GCU expired, and the link to the coupon leads nowhere now. I was gonna use it on Ace Combat 7 too (good thing I had a ton of Amazon Reward points and could still get in on release-date delivery with them). I checked the Best Buy forums and saw BB CS reps answering questions about lost coupons saying "It may not expire for a while but you had to activate it by a certain time or the link would expire. Unfortunately we cannot reactivate that link." I did see them tell one recent guy to message them his account info for review and then that same guy posted later saying thanks for resolving his problem. So maybe they are still getting people different replacement coupons or crediting their account after a purchase or something? Still dumb though, because the fine print says nothing about "This link expires in two months, so use it quick."
I'm gonna have to get a hold of them soon over it though.

No physical Deluxe Edition anywhere in NA. Best you can do above the vanilla version is the exclusive Strangreal (sp?) Edition at the Namco Bandai store, which has a steelbook and artbook for like $89.99 I think, but no season pass or other deluxe edition stuff comes with it.

btw for those who don't know the gcu expiry coupon stacks witht he gcu price as long as your gcu is still valid didnt know that before so i missed out :) but turns out you can use it before your gcu expires so double discount :D

From what I've seen on the Best Buy community forums, they might be handling it and hooking people up there. The people who have created threads there about it have all said that the reps over the phone have been useless regarding getting these coupons sent back out though, so keep that in mind for when you try to get it reactivated. I think I'll hit them up on the forums tomorrow about mine.

yes must purchase online for either shipping or in store pickup. Make sure your credit card won’t get compromised since any edit to your payment method will result in the price jumping. You can pay with PayPal and pay Best Buy now or buy a Best Buy gift card.

Anybody else still a little bit concerned that BB might cut off GCU memberships at some unknown point in the near future? My membership is good for another year, but I somehow doubt it will actually last that long.

No reason behind it but my hunch is at the one year mark from when they stopped offering GCU the rest of ours will terminated. I can't see them letting people continue to get 20% off for years.

I don't think it'll get cut off anytime soon, but I agree that they will eventually cut people off. There are a ton of people (most of them probably on this forum) that have several years left of GCU and I can't imagine Best Buy letting them continue to get the discount. I'd imagine they give those people some certs or something to compensate them for the time they paid for though.

I hope they bring GCU back in some form though. I doubt they will bring back the 20% off new games as it is currently but I'd be happy to get additional reward points and access to exclusive member deals or something. I like shopping at Best Buy, but I am not going to buy new games there very often if I can just go to Target or Gamestop by my house and pick the game up for the same price. Hopefully, Best Buy gives me a reason to frequent the store again.

They're not going to cut it off. They've committed to ending the program and letting people ride out their subs, whenever that is. For people with the foresight to buy multiple years, they're not going to renege on that because it's for sure less than a fraction of a percent of their business. Going back on your word as a business, publicly, is not something they'd do over this.

It's also something that would impact perhaps a few thousand people at this point, not something that would require much of a public announcement nor would many people care (outside those impacted) we will see, I just don't think 2 years down the road those are still going to be valid.

I'm sure they have already looked at remaining time on GCU accounts, what the annual spend is on non video game purchases, and done the math on how much revenue they would be losing. My hunch is the vast majority of people with GCU only buy games, and that it would be a net profit overall for BB if they lost those customers.

Best Buy abruptly closed enrollment of GCU without any sort of official announcement. That tells you their feelings on the matter, and how much they "value" that program. I don't see it coming back.
