LEGO Deals 3

This past weekend Amazon had the Brick Bank in stock for $170. I really wanted to buy one but that's not in my budget. Then this morning I figured out my tax refund and I could have bought it.

So this is a lesson to always buy the expensive LEGO set that's had a $100 price increase in just the last month.
It's been going in and out of stock for the past week or so. I lucked out and got one yesterday. Keep checking and hopefully you'll get lucky.

I procrastinated and can’t find Mickey Mouse Brickheadz anywhere. Anyone see him lately? Looks like all retailers are sold out online and eBay, bricklink prices start out at $30

Right even though LEGO didn’t make an official announcement and the newer ones are listed as sold out and not retired in Shop at Home I get that licensed sets (not seasonal) are pretty much gone. The question was if anyone has seen him anywhere lately

The problem is that Sunday night it said 'Backorder, be in stock Feb 6th', but they aren't getting more in. I don't really have the money anyways as I will probably need to move to get a reliable year round job. I currently work on a farm for a fucking psychopath. If you go to a Wegman's in Massachusetts we grow their local produce. It's why I didn't buy it right away, I'm trying to save money. (Even though I have spent like $150 in the last month on eBay LEGO junk)

Have you tried Brickseek? I saw them at Target within the last few weeks.

Mine said the same thing when I bought it this weekend but I got a shipping confirmation this morning. Also earlier this morning they had 17 more in stock. I was going to post but wasn't logged in to CAG on my phone. By the time I got to my office they were sold out already.

Brick Bank is in stock at the moment.

I love you and hate you right now. I don't think I can do it. $120 for Detective Office, $120 Fishing Shop, $170 Bank. I could have bought a new phone for that price and I really need a new phone. (I still use my 5 year old iPhone 4.) :)

But....

LEGOs....

Check Barnes n Noble, might get lucky.

Found LEGO movie series 2 minifigures at Target. I picked up an almost full case, only missing 4. The rumor seems to be true, opened up a single row and came up with a full set without molesting Dorthy!

Yes I’ve checked brickseek for Mickey, both Walmart and target have nothing.
Barnes and Noble site says nada too.
I’m going to Disneyland next weekend and gonna check the downtown Disney LEGO store. Of all places hopefully they still have some

How does Brick Bank compare to the other modular buildings? I’ve got Green Grocer and the Old Fishing Store (technically not one, but comparable) and at one point owned the theater, cafe corner and grand emporium. Are there any must haves from those that just retired (bank, detective, etc) or the more recent modulars? Thinking about picking a couple up over the next few months.

If you don't want the boxes I can maybe pick them up for you if I see them. The boxes would just kill the shipping. I'd ship them for cost.

I haven't built any and wish I had the Green Grocer. My favorite, having not built any of them, is the D.O., the Bank doesn't look special (The store is cute though) but I don't want to miss out on it and have to pay $400 for it in six months. But I really should cut down my debt and not keep adding to it.

I'm kind of hoping the Bank is in stock on Friday or Saturday so I could buy it and have it be on next month's statement.

Also the Bank jumped retirement, it should have been retired at the end of this year or even end of 2020. The order was D.O. then P.R. then Bank.

Of the most recent ones, the Detective Office is probably my favorite. Assembly Square and Parisian Restaurant would round out a top 3.

That being said I have the Bank & Diner but haven't built either yet.

Bank is back out of stock and I'm being a good adult, but a bad LEGO fan, and haven't bought it yet. Still hoping it it's stock on Friday or Saturday, whenever next month's statement is made.
You can all yell at me when I bitch about not having it when it's $400 next month.

Anyways LEGO news for the casual fans who only check here.

Instagram has a rumour of a new LEGO TV series with 20 eleven minute episodes and interestingly only three sets. I'm guessing a TLM2 spinoff like Unikitty with the first movie.

At the German Toy Fair LEGO announced a new $500 Technic set with a new motorized system called Control+.
https://brickset.com/article/41935/technic-control-and-flagship-model-announced

There are five overpriced Star Wars sets with old fashion minifigures from 20-ish years ago, all yellow besides Lando.
https://brickset.com/article/41934/20th-anniversary-star-wars-sets-revealed!

LEGO also announced a set list for the summer, no pictures and it's translated from German so the titles are off.

I need to stop looking here lol.  Now I want a Brick Bank.  I have them all up to the corner mall I think except for the blue market building that wasn't officially part of the series.  Out of all of those, I've only built the Green Grocer.

Edit: forgot I have the pet shop too

Found a box of Movie 2 figures this morning. Box had 53 packs. The packs were all scattered so I had to do the feel method. Have an extra set of 20 at cost + shipping if anyone is interested. Going to return this weekend if not.

Edit: extra set claimed.

Edit: Brick Bank back in stock. 20 in stock as of 2:42 PST

Is Brick Bank really retired if it seems to keep popping back into stock and lists more on the way? I have one arriving tomorrow ... but I feel like I got caught up in the retirement hype 🤪

GG if you happen to find Mickey I would gladly take it, box not necessary since I will build and display him. Thanks
Brickseek says it's OOS everywhere near me in all three major stores but I feel like Brickseek has been way wrong since they want to charge you $500 a month or whatever the membership is. So I'll keep my eye out.

No, it's retired. It's been OOS at S@H and everywhere else since about 12:30 eastern on November 23, 2018. That's why it's so weird what's going on with Amazon.

I went a little crazy buying retired sets on eBay over the past week. Catching up on sets I missed and hopefully helping to put some resellers' kids through college.

I'll do another round of purchases if we end up getting a 15-20% eBay coupon.

Well, are you gonna tell us which sets you bought?

It's fun finding the kid inside of us all grown up! lol

Skiizim - only one area target had it near me (no longer at Walmart or Barnes and Noble in my area) and it was still full price. Went to the target where brickseek said it was in stock and it was literally the last one. I had them price match Barnes and Noble which has it listed as $14.99 on clearance on their site. So check brickseek and see if any area targets have it.
I just wanted the minifigures, I’m selling and parting out the rest

Don't know if there are any fellow Technic collectors on here, but Kohls has the LEGO TECHNIC Extreme Adventure 42069 on clearance for $134.99 w/ free shipping (MSRP $179.99). You'll also get $20 in Kohls Cash off a future purchase ($30 if you add another item that's $15.01 or more)

This set is sold out at LEGO online, Amazon, and Target so it's only going to get more expensive. You may find it at a LEGO store for $143.99.

illenium's post reminded me I need to start listing my extra sets.  Or maybe I'll just list them here.  I'm moving in August and need to sell off some stuff.

I need to do the same. I'm thinking about building my Star Wars sets from 1999-2002ish era and see how much they are worth. On brick link there are Studio theme Spiderman minifigures trying to be sold at $25-50, I figured I can do half of that and still make a hell of a profit. Plus I still have a McDondal's still in it's box.

Amazon Warehouse has a couple of Brick Banks right now. The lowest price is $158.09 (very good condition).
I think we can officially call AWD dead. 2% off a 'like new' set? I was actually holing out that this would happen, but they should be 1at least 10% off, more so 'Very Good' used to be 15-17% off at least, not like 8%. I think I'm just going to go 'fuck food and rent' and buy the damn thing. My credit is already awful, it can't get much worse.

Do people ever sell retired sets here? I assume most people here are experts in buy low / sell high so I'm guessing it's unlikely. But since I've been paying low-end eBay prices anyway, I figure it can't hurt to check. I'd always rather give money to a CAG than a random eBayer.

People here usually go 'Hey, I have this I'm going to stick on eBay if anyone wants first dibs'. Like someone here posted about a monorail and I would have loved to have bought. But yeah what are you looking for and we can see what we all have.

I'd be very willing to part with most Super Hero sets sans minifigs, for example, but I doubt anyone really wants them without the minifigs.

Probably more likely if you are looking for opened sets. What are you looking for specifically?
I made a want list on Brickset: https://brickset.com/sets/wantedby-illennium

I'm open to used / open sets as long as they are complete and in like-new condition. I learned my lesson buying used on eBay and getting some pieces that looked like they had been used as teething toys, or worse.

I'd be very willing to part with most Super Hero sets sans minifigs, for example, but I doubt anyone really wants them without the minifigs.
I might be interested, depending on the price and the sets. I bought some minifig lots on eBay so if I'm able to match up those minifigs with sets to complete them, that could definitely work for me. The minifig lots I bought were heavy on super heroes, Jurassic Park, and Lord of the Rings.

Actually if you have some buildings you want to get rid of we should talk. I buy Friend sets just for the buildings and throw the minidolls to the side.

A lot of those sets will be super easy and cheap, like the Alien Defense set is still super cheap on eBay. Chima, Scoopy and even some LotR ones are still cheap. However the 'historical' ones (Castle, big LotR, Egypt) people like.

I do have some minifigure packs for Chima and that Egypt theme. The fire and Ice I have 8-10, the other two I have 3-5 of.

https://brickset.com/sets/850913-1/Fire-and-Ice-Minifigure-Accessory-Set
https://brickset.com/sets/853176-1/Skeleton-Mummy-Battle-Pack

I have the Agents HQ one, but it's dusty, and I know one of the claws is broken because my cats keep knocking the robot off the shelf...

I actually have a ton of sets on your list, but you'd have to pry the Tolkien sets from my cold, dead hands, and the HP ones from the missus'.

I'll see about updating my list of what's in storage if I get a chance. Won't be today, for sure. And because I'm moving soon, I only have quick access to a few opened sets.

Edit: Do we need to move this to a trade thread? Not that there's more than like the ~10 regulars here, usually.

That list reminded my that I have a couple unopened Ghost Trains with water damage from when my basement flooded a few years back. I should probably open them to see if the manual and stickers survived.

Nah, all Lego talk is welcome here. Maybe just go to private messaging with specific back and forth deal making.

Picked up Technic Hovercraft for $23 and Technic Green Racer for $30 at Target.

Weird how all the Walmarts around me that didn't put the Kessel Run Falcon on clearance, don't have any shelf space left for them so they must be sitting in the backrooms. Only one store put them back out and now they are marked down to $100...come on $50.

And this list reminded me that I never completely finished motorizing my Ghost Train. 8-[

Thanks, I'm going to slowly chip away at my want list on eBay. I mostly like the larger (700+ piece) sets which largely seem to start at MSRP and go from there. My favorite is the sellers who list sets at $2,000 that are readily available at $300. Not sure what they're thinking but I guess it takes all kinds.

So far I've managed to beat the BrickLink estimate for every set I've bought. I know the BL estimates are not reliable because lots of people list used / incomplete sets as new which throws off the average, but it's helpful to have some sort of yardstick.

@illenium I have a 5974 Galactic Enforcer, but it's missing 3 or 4 pieces and the box.  The manual is in ok condition and the stickers haven't been used.

I also have a sealed 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush.  It might have some shelf wear, I haven't checked it in a long time.

Been a while, but has anyone used Darth Bricks before?

They've been sending me newsletters for a while, but I only checked recently and their prices on SW sets seem way too good to be true. I emailed the owner and he said he used to have a BrickLink store, but closed it and has just started sending out Newsletters using the email addresses of those that bought from him, but stillll I dunno. Again, prices just seem really too good for pretty much everything. Guy also took a super long time to answer my email and then said it was just because it's a one man business.

If any of you have used him before, I'll snap up almost one of everything on his site.

https://darthbricks.com/

Hmm... might be a good enough bargain to risk it though. Interesting that it's only relatively recent sets (like wouldn't you think older used SW sets are available all over the place?). How'd you find this guy in the first place? The sets don't seem to have a limit either; like I can add 200+ UCS MFs to my cart. One guy doing this out of his basement obviously doesn't have that much inventory.

There's still a Darth Bricks BL store too: https://store.bricklink.com/SITH85
