Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Yeah, so picked up Baja during the Spring sale. Had it on 360. I still prefer Forza Horizon and the Dirt games but Baja is fun especially for $4.80 or whatever it was. I do wish you could drive off track in it. That would be awesome.

Not sure I can do one of those 4-hour races though. Lol

I think Hell has frozen solid. Got an actual working code for Halo: MCC off of Facebook marketplace for free AND Microsoft sent me the $5 free space bucks in my messages. They never do that

So, I had saved my free 3-month game pass reward from way back in November, I had checked it last month and it was still good, I wanted to gift it to a relative that got an Xbox recently but to my surprise the code was not good anymore, I contacted rewards help and got a response several hours later and they refunded 18k points to my acct so I could get a new code, which most likely I wont. I remember someone was asking here about this codes being good still, so if you have one of those saves make sure you double check it before too late.
My codes from the horrible 3 month long quest last year are still good from both my account and my GF's. Or at least they appear to be valid, I didn't actually redeem them.

I grabbed Valley based on the talk I saw going on here. I hesitated buying for the longest whenever it was sale previously. Thanks to everyone for finally convincing me to get it. Can't wait to dive in and experience was it has to offer.

So who has $6440 to spend? Apparently that's the amount to unlock all the skins in MK11.
I'm playing a friend's copy. I've been trying to beat a medium difficulty (the easiest in Towers of Time) fight to unlock a skin for an hour. The difficulty level is insane. They throw so many negative effects at you (computer is unaffected by any of this) and give the opponent spammable powers/invincibility/heals that just destroy you. You can use an AI fighter like Injustice 2, but the AI just gets absolutely demolished because it can't deal with any of the shit that's flying around.

Skins/loot boxes/Microtransactions/whatever they want to call them next... this is getting insane. It has been getting worse and worse every year, but it seems the last year or so it's taken a huge jump.

The loot box war was lost a long time ago. Every now and then people get upset whenever a game goes too far with them but hey, it's free money for the publisher. They are just going to dial it back until the backlash cools down.

Alpha Ring Insider here.

I'm trying to move Anthem DLC on the internal HDD to my SSD, and when I select the SDD nothing happens.  I'm also trying to move the Anthem game from a regular USB to my SSD, and same.  When I click on the SSD it makes the sound, but the console does nothing.  In fact, trying to move these things to any other storage does nothing.  Any one else have this problem?

My company's web traffic filter got an update this afternoon that blocks sites categorized as "Games", which includes CAG, GameFAQs, Xbox.com, Twitch and Mixer. The security guys were caught off-guard by this, but I don't know if it will change. If it doesn't, this will prevent me from posting deals here on Mondays, since I'm usually at the office late deploying a new weekly build to our testing environment. The XB1 web marketplace still appears to be accessible, since it's hosted on microsoft.com, so I should be able to do a scan. If things don't change, I could potentially email it to someone to post, or you guys may have to wait for StoreParser (if it works) or another scanner like TA to pick up on the deals.

What doubly sucks is that the blocking is done by the computer and not the network, so my work laptop, which serves as my primary surfing machine at home, can't access the sites anywhere.

You’d think devs and publishers would have been paying attention to the Battlefront II disaster...
If you pay real money, do you get what you want or does it buy a chance through an RNG loot box? If it's direct purchases, maybe they think this is better compared to Battlefront II.

Work filters are the worst.

Sorry to hear that, Bloomy. Thank you for everything you have done and for even trying to think of a way to still post the deals.

If you pay real money, do you get what you want or does it buy a chance through an RNG loot box? If it's direct purchases, maybe they think this is better compared to Battlefront II.
My soon to be former employer just implemented this on PCs too, so even if on your home network you are block, kind of silly, or really silly.

Hopefully you can figure out something because your hard work is appreciated.

Power cycle the xbox.

We've had this system (Cisco Umbrella) for a while. I remember when it first rolled out it blocked the Wayback Machine. Can't remember how it was categorized, maybe as porn. But that's since been whitelisted. Hopefully they unblock this category. The security guys know how to turn it off, but they weren't sure if they could without a go ahead from a higher up. I think it was League of Legends that was briefly blocked on the company network, but it got unblocked because the VP of support lets his team play that during breaks and as team building exercises. YouTube will also never be blocked because people use it for tutorials. Not sure if there are enough non-gaming tutorials on Twitch to get the entire Games category white listed.

This is so short-sighted. I gave it a 10 this morning. I'm going with some good friends tomorrow night and it's going to be epic! They're really good friends and we always have a great time at whatever we do, so how could it not be a 10?
Can't tell if sarcasm. Are you saying you rated it already on anticipation?

For anybody who joined the Game Pass Ultimate but had it disappear, check your Insider Hub. I just jumped in and noticed the FAQ is back. In the Insider Content tab under joined should by the GP Ultimate. If you didn't get to finish, choose "Show in Store", it will take you to the join for $1. It let me use space bucks for the $1 with PayPal as backup. Good luck!

All the talk about Baja: Edge of Control, I had a little bit of interest in it last week but not enough to purchase it. This week I'm much more interested in Gravel being on sale. Mostly because it has stadium truck racing in addition to rally and baja races. It is Xbox One X enhanced too!

But then, I already have quite a few racing games... do I really need another?

https://youtu.be/CDoysovtnRg

I just want 90's stadium truck races with full destruction physics...

Went to a preview tonight for the biggest movie of the month...

Long Shot. Ok, wasn’t Endgame but actually really liked it. Don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time.

Let me know if you want my NordVPN account Bloomy. I'll PM you my details if you think it works or try a trial version if you can; and, if it does, I'll gladly share.

Also, for the guys who are in alpha or skip ahead, the Game Pass Ultimate insider content is now available. Check you insider app and join if you so feel. I joined just for the sake of testing the service; since, I see no other benefit for self, having maxed out my live & GP already.

Thanks for mentioning this, I missed it the first time it was up.

All three Bioshocks received decent sized updates today (Bioshock: 630mb, Bioshock 2: 3.92gb, Bioshock Infinite: 362mb). Was really hoping to hear they were Xbox One X enhancements, especially since 2k just updated Borderlands. No news yet on what it was.

Thank you. Just checked after you mentioned it and coverted over. Got Ultimate till 03/2022 with what Gold and Gamer Pass I had left.

There’s a new punch card on the rewards dashboard for completing 8 tasks by 5/22.

Prizes for completion are 1 month game pass, 1500 points and 1 month of 2x bing searches.

Seems easy enough to do but we all know how tracking goes with them.

And if I’m reading the tasks correctly you should be able to finish in 3 days.

So very obnoxious. I can understand blocking actual games (flash game sites, etc) but I've never understood why companies block forums for hobbies but don't block reddit, ESPN, etc.

Assuming you're not joking and gay, GL with that. As I've heard from other women, it's awful dating the same sex because you're both great communicators and it's a constant war of being unable to defeat the other person's solid argument.
Assuming you're not joking, I've witnessed some downright terrible communication between women, dating or otherwise. The GF and I happen to be good at it because our professions trained us to be (counseling/therapy/etc).

One commenter on reddit said the update added Chinese subtitles but I haven't personally confirmed that's the case.

So far tracking seems to be instant, but haven't delved into the getting an achievement on the Xbox portion yet. That's usually where the trouble starts. The tasks aren't hard at all with needing just one achievement on the Xbox for the rewards they're giving out.

Days Gone not getting very good reviews. 5/10 on GamesSpot. Ouch.

Edit:: Well, guess it does have a 71 average on Metacritic.

Yep, seems like some outlets really didn't like it or couldn't overlook some technical issues, but majority reviews are positive.

I mean a 71 average for the pedigree it has I would say is still disappointing. I won’t be getting it until it’s dirt cheap.

My work filters sound about the same, and they are network based. The filters don't work while I am on the road, unless I use the company's VPN.

My company did not block ESPN, but it did block the site's fantasy sports subdomain.

I’m pretty lucky because our wired internet at my work is locked down tight, however, we have an open super fast WiFi because 1 floor of the building is open to the public and has meetings and events so it’s not blocking much of anything. If you unplug from the wired and connect to that you can watch twitch or whatever during lunch.

Wow who would have thought Anthem would be dead after only 3 months? If only we had some red flags pop up during its development and release.

VPN or cheap Chromebook or whatever at home..

Use company equipment for work, don't use it for non-work. My brother in law learned that lesson when he walked into a meeting and they  gave him a new laptop, wiping his old HD without him being able to do anything about it. His "work" stuff is backed up as long as it's in certain folders.. all personal stuff not in those folders were gone.

It’s not officially dead yet. They just announced that their “road map” including the big Cataclysm update was delayed. That said, that’s not a great sign and have to wonder if it will all be scrapped.

Reddit seems to the go-to place for games like this, the Destiny sub was (and is) still a primary source of discussion, info, and correspondence with Bungie. That said, this (angry rant of a) salty post is one of the most trafficked ones, esp w/ the silver / gold / plat endorsements (which cost real money to give):

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame/comments/bgxt67/bioware_at_this_point_you_are_an_embarrassment_to/

Yeesh.

I think after years of Destiny and Bioware's reputation, the bar for expectations was set much higher than when Destiny launched almost 5 years ago. That Kotaku article is pretty damning too, since leadership didn't even want to discuss a game like Destiny when planning Anthem and learning from Bungie's missteps.

By the time it hit's $20 or so I think I'll look into more recent reviews. It sounds like alot of the gameplay stuff people have complaints about can be patched so don't have to babysit the motorcycle as much.

When I saw the news this week they were working on patching it instead of getting the DLC out, it did finally dawn on me that the game came out this year and I feel the articles on the working conditions of Bioware have had a longer shelf span and more discussion than the game itself. Also no one on my friend's list has played this for over a month. Just oof. I Kinda hope they pull a No Man's Sky and win everyone over, but I think EA would count this as a loss and move on before that happens.

I was watching Giantbomb do a quick look of Days Gone this morning. It definitely has whatever that visual "Style" is that is the Sony 3rd person camera action/adventure game. It seemed interesting enough, they were comparing it somewhat to State of Decay with even some of the newer Far Cry games. Stamina meter seemed to prevent it from being any kind of all out action game. Bad weekend for that Gamestop basically rental program with GoT and Avengers, but I can see myself picking it up on a PSN digital sale for $20 this fall/holiday.

Nothing about it screams instabuy, but I will eventually pick it up for to Sam Witwer playing the lead; I've always liked that dude.

An important note is that tasks can be completed simultaneously. For example, there is a task for completing 3 daily sets and a task for logging into the app on the Xbox for 3 days. Both show 1 out of 3 complete for me after doing them. There is also a task for earning 500 points, which currently sits at 260, so completion in 3 days is entirely reasonable.

Just so excited for the Fortnite x Endgame event. Plus finally we get Marvel skins!!!

I played the new Stronghold that was added this week, I liked it. If nothing else good for Dominion kills. Not sure if I like the boss.
