Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I know it's not very cagish but got rdr2 and watchdogs 2 to complete the punch card. Had lots of credit so I didn't mind spending a few extra dollars. Also have been wanting to play both for awhile now. Now to disappear for months.

Edit..does anyone else buy games sometimes because they are set in their geographical area? I find myself interested more if they are based in the Bay Area sometimes. That's weird right?

It still grinds my gears when people say a big reason they won't upgrade to an X is because they don't have a 4KTV. The TV is just the cherry on top, people. You'll see the difference in your games just from the hardware itself, even if you have a normal LED set. It's NICE to have 4K and HDR, but it's not what defines the X.
I don't have the money to upgrade to the X, so your gears are going to be stripped!

Seriously, that's probably the best console bundle ever made in terms of sheer game quality. :)
*ahem*

Definition of first world problems. Playing through Borderlands 3 free weekend on my OG (which I shouldnt have done, because now I'll probably buy it) and other than a few random gameplay pauses/fps drops, it's very much "playable" and doesnt affect my gaming experience whatsoever. If it plays well on my OG, it definitely is "playable" on the S.

Decided to look up a comparison video on Witcher 3 between the two One X modes and the OG. Other than minor higher quality detailing and a somewhat more flowing environment, it doesnt seem nearly worth a discounted $350 not including the TV you have to buy to actually get those effects.
I'm not sure what you mean by first world problems but as someone who actually had to pay for shit, minus what my outstanding wife gets me, I want stuff to work. Also, we're on an online board so maybe when I try to play a damn game in real life maybe the real world shit going on you don't know about has me ready to just play a damn game. From the OG Xbox One to the X, I know what I like. Games are being made and optimized for the X and future proofed for Scarlett, both more powerful machines than the S. When I play a game like Borderlands and the vending machines can't even render properly on an S, that's unplayable to me. When I go to jump and there's lag, unplayable to me. If you're fine with that, enjoy. Maybe you'd like Big Rigs too.

Also, you do not need a 4k\HDR TV to appreciate the X. Anybody telling you different us selling you shit. I mean if you have the S, do watch 4K Blu Ray's with it? It does have the drive after all.

Preach!!!

Best Christmas ever when that system came out. My mom lied to me and told me she couldn't get one. Moments later walked in with in wrapping paper. Played for 24 hrs straight. My mom is the real MVP.
Believe it or not, I had to hide my SNES from my mom. She got addicted to DR Mario on the NES and would play SMB3 with me after school. When the SNES came out and Super Mario World was included, hahaha! One if the few times as a kid I can look back fondly towards my parents

My mom got me a Genesis one year and we would play Mortal Kombat. She was never a gamer but would always take me to system launches. She legit went to every launch and slept outside in the lines with me. It was like our thing. Last launch she went to was the PS3 launch. I was in my late 20s and she went with me still.

Yeah the punch card is 5,000, willie. I bought the $54 Jedi Fallen order with a $40 gift card, so I paid $14 out of pocket and got 11,000 points since it had the 6,000 punch card too.

If you spend $40 how much do you get back on the punch card? 5000 points?
I think I got 6k.

I got this on my 9th birthday (about 3 months after it came out)...with R.O.B.

It will always be my favorite.

Edit...played the hell out of nes golf, wrestling, Mike Tyson's punch out, link, and rygar (no saves!).

That's beautiful. I wasn't in the US when that system came out. I got here in 1990. Still remember getting toy cousins house from the airport without the ability to speak a word of English and instantly falling in love with a double dragon on the NES. They let me play for hours and it was heaven. God Bless America.

Yeah the punch card is 5,000, willie. I bought the $54 Jedi Fallen order with a $40 gift card, so I paid $14 out of pocket and got 11,000 points since it had the 6,000 punch card too.
Plus another 1k for the actual purchase if it's 50+. I did the same thing, cashed in 23k points for $25 and the rest was existing credit. Got 12k points back instantly, which means more than half way to another $25.

Awesome thanks. Damn it. Gonna bite on Code Vein then. Now to decide if the deluxe edition is worth it.

My step dad hated them but mom in her better moments could keep him chill. Also helped that the NES and SNES were gifts from my grandparents and he didn't dare mess with them. I hid the $70 it cost for Super Street Fighter 2 for SNES and mom went and bought it for me stealth like hahaha

I think I got 6k.

I got this on my 9th birthday (about 3 months after it came out)...with R.O.B.

It will always be my favorite.

Edit...played the hell out of nes golf, wrestling, Mike Tyson's punch out, link, and rygar (no saves!).
I'm 33 years old. I Still don't know what the fuck kinda service R.O.B. provided...

Really tempted on that ps4 deal with the pack in games. But that goes against my strategy of getting a ps5 and catching up on what I've missed.

You'll never catch up. Just spend the money and accept your fate.
As far as the backlog, yeah, I know that's never going to be cleared. It's just, will I be able to trade a ps4 for $200 in towards a ps5 next year? If yes, seems like a no-brainer. But even if it's only $150 or $100 towards a new system, I can probably get that much fun out of it.

Marketing service. They wanted the NES to stand out and not be seen as an Atari clone after retailers and consumers were burned by the crash, and ROB helped them market as an 'entertainment system.'

Does anyone feel like the ps5 and Scarlett are going to be soft iteration improvements in tech that are mostly under the hood and lacking a wow factor? While I appreciate controllers and games pushing forward, I feel like this will be the first generation that I’m going to be a late adopter because playing my old games on something new that I maybe can tell the difference in better 4K than the One X is not very appealing.

I suspect VR is really going to come into it's own next generation and will be a main driving force behind using the upgraded tech in an affordable package for consumers.

I felt similarly about X1 / PS4 for the first 2-3 years. Doom 2016 was the first game that made me so holy shit, I need to upgrade, and I think next gen will be the same. With cross-platform launches for the first 6 months (Halo anyway, guessing others will follow), I have no need to be an early adopter.

Most of what I have on PS4 is digital, so if anything I'll sell my PS4, get a PS5 for exclusives, and keep going through the backlog on my X1. Ironically, Microsoft's strategy has me less inclined to upgrade.

Doing another little giveaway... still got a full set of all the Rockstar Skins for Gears 5 (including the Circle K and Walmart Skins). If you have already unlocked some of the skins you are still fine to enter, however it would be appreciated if you pass on your duplicates.

To enter simply like this post. Winner will be drawn this Friday!

No, I’m excited, I remember when I upgraded to a PC with a SSD and it was life changing. I’m hoping we are getting back to the days like SNES and N64 when you hit the power button and you are gaming almost instantly.

Same. I'll be there day one.
I have to reboot my Xbox one X because it lags once it’s been going for a few days, it’s a weak system but the consoles are 7 years old next year so I’m ready for a hardware upgrade. Yes I know the X is not 7 years old, but it’s still weak compared to where PC is at now. I feel like the Kinect really screwed Xbox this gen so I’m ready for a system that is designed without that gimmick in mind. I’ll probably be in day one for the Scarlett as long as it launches with a game I want to play.

Same. If it launches with Halo it's an instant buy.

Man, not many headset deals at all this year...
Yeah, I was looking to upgrade. Ended up finding a pair that had an okay discount. Hopefully I enjoy them. Seems like I had a harder time deciding and figuring out what was a good headset than it took me to figure out what TV I wanted last year.

Barring some catastrophe there is no way Halo Infinite isn't coming out at launch on Scarlett. It is in a weird spot since it is also coming for One, I'd guess if you buy one version you get both, which would be a big shift from when this generation started. With Master Chief Collection being converted into a live service model I do wonder what the end game is for their plans there. A native port to the new console or "just" running in 4K through backwards compatibility.

I'm fine with there being no more Kinect games in development, but I wouldn't mind seeing continued support for the existing Kinect games.

I dunno. Them taking the lightbar off the controller has me thinking they are giving up on VR because it's still too niche. Either that or they are going to have the PSVR2 exclusively work with some new Move controllers with finger tracking or whatever.

Buy? You mean play on Gamepass.

Duke controller available on Amazon Warehouse for ~$25 for a probable dinger.

I will go to my grave saying the emulation on Mario 1-3 is off.
All-Stars isn't emulation, it's a port running native in a new engine, but you aren't the first to say the physics for jumping etc is slightly off from the original hardware. I don't think it's better or worse, but it's a tad different, esp. in the original SMB.
