It was that legendary 3-shot poison pistol wasn't it? That thing was hella powerful too.
Probably should have stored it in my bank or something but I eventually did sell it once I found something better (inventory management is one thing I struggle with in these games--to me a good inventory is an empty inventory). It definitely was a legendary item because I distinctly remember thinking it was the first gun I found in the game that was deserving of the moniker. But if memory serves it was an incendiary 6-shooter with super-fast loading and high-criticals and everything it hit exploded.

Anyway, I plunged back into my backlog last night and started playing Ghosts of Tsushima on PS5. It's a bit of a slow start and the gameplay feels very derivative but once the world opens up it's a lot of fun to explore and it's a great looking game. Not sure if it has much chance of ever hitting PC but hopefully Sony continues to expand the catalog of titles they're willing to release because this is a very nice alternative to the typical Ubisoft blueprint. The next game in my backlog is Ass Creed Valhalla so it will be interesting to play those two back-to-back. Alternatively, I could also finally start Sekiro but I'm still too scared.

Yes. The endings themselves are absolute but, when you complete the main story, it gives the option to get bumped back into Night City right before the "point of no return" (with a special bit of gear reward depending on the ending you got) so you can continue playing as though you never finished. And re-finish it with a different ending, if you want.
Oh, that's pretty cool - that the game bumps you right back to right before "Point Of No Return", once you finish the game...so you can go do different endings and stuff.

Gorogoa is one of the neatest puzzle games I have ever played.  I highly recommend it but only on sale, it took me a little over an hour to beat it the first time (I have 13 hours in it or something but that is because I forgot to close it down one night) and after one play-through the only reason to play again is to go for the achievements.  I have literally no idea wtf was going on in the game with the little story that unfolded, but it was fun to figure out how to progress through each area.  I'd love a game made this way that had 8-10 hours of gameplay or something.  If you do want to play, go in as blind as possible as just watching 15 minutes of the game on youtube or something would all but ruin playing it.

I could easily keep playing but my backlog beckons. I'll try to pick up the DLC cheap and circle back to it later this year. Also still need to play the pre-sequel so that might come first.
I cannot say that I blame you. I have one more story based DLC to do but I just realized in the last few days that so many of my achievements didn't unlock I'm sort of annoyed with it. (I'm not really an achievement hunter but if track down/explore every part of the map I do like to be rewarded for my time. So after spending time to verify that, yes I did do everything I was suppose to and unlocking the achievements manually. I might take a break myself.)

It was that legendary 3-shot poison pistol wasn't it? That thing was hella powerful too.
The Hornet. That thing is invaluable in the Jackpot DLC due to all the robots. (armor) (I just got one on Mayhem 10 while goofing around at that difficulties.)

Probably one of my biggest pet peeves about Looter Shooters. Having tens of thousands of choices isn't particularly great if only a dozen or so really matter.
I feel this is way more of an issue in Borderlands where the stats, while not outright a lie, can be very misleading.

So, as someone who has put way too much a good amount of time into the previous Borderlands titles, but haven't even bought 3 yet...how does 3 fare in comparison? I felt that 2 was hands down the best in terms of writing and gameplay mechanics (though the damage number increase was a bit insane). The og to me had a better overall singleplayer story and progression experience (save for the ending which I think deserves more flak than ME3). Even TPS added some flavor with player movement and laser weapons. I need a good reason to add another time sink type game.

Pretty much everyone on the Borderlands subreddit say the game play is better in BLE but the story and endgame aren't as good.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment.

Agreed. Gameplay (including jumping and being able to climb up) are much improved. The story is... meh. Bad guys, as well as one of your allies, are just plain annoying.

And he doesn't mean Claptrap... Seriously, way worse.
I was mostly listening to music in the background while playing BL3 and didn't pay much attention to the story. I definitely thought the antagonists were obnoxious but I'm not sure which ally everyone is referring to. Was it the underwear guy?

With all the talk of new hardware and folks building new PCs it occurred to me to ask: are you guys getting optical drives in your new machines? readers/writers/BD?  internal/USB?  i've been window shopping for a while and just noticed that most of the pre-built stuff doesn't have an optical drive included.

I haven't had one in my pc in years.
I don't have one in mine either. Last build I replaced, I opened the drive and found a disc I had put in there maybe three years earlier than that. That convinced me that maybe I didn't need one and haven't missed having one since. I guess, if I ever really needed one, I'd pull one out of the parts bin and just hook it up for as long as I needed it. The longer I go without needing one, the less likely it seems that it'll come up though.

I'd be more excited about this if the Wolfenstein games hadn't been getting more "eh" with each new title. Didn't even bother to finish Youngblood.

No new optical drives inside my new 2020 CyberPowerPC.

Heck, no optical drives in my last 2 laptops (2016 laptop from Acer; and 2018 laptop from EVGA).

I do have a USB-portable DVD burner; I usually connect that to my laptops, when needing to install games off a disc onto the laptops.

Also, my old W7 PC has both a BR-burner drive and a separate DVD-burner drive inside.

Most of my full-game back-ups (from Steam; GOG; Epic; etc) are put on hard-drives these days anyways for back-ups.

I've built three PCs since 2016 and none have had optical drives. One of these days I'll have to get some sort of external drive for burning/ripping CDs, but that's only because I have lot of old music I made in my younger years that are on CDs and I need to get them onto my PC eventually before the discs start to rot. On that note, can anyone recommend a good USB drive for such a purpose? I guess now is as good a time as any to actually get it done.

That's the one I can't stand. Thankfully he's gone for most of the middle of the game, but comes back late... ugh.

They're dirt cheap nowadays. Just get the cheapest name brand one you can find.

I bought a nice external ASUS one for 100 bucks. It has worked well for me when I've needed it. I've listened to a few blu-ray soundtracks on there and installed from a couple of discs.

It plugs in and out with ease, but hogs one USB port and one power outlet, and sits on top of my case. This way I can take it with me whenever I graduate to the next build or use any other old computer. Would do it again.

There is a cheap slim LG external BD writer that I used to see on sale at Microcenter for $60 but the price has been $80+ since two years ago.   Prices on most components have only gone up.  But you can bookmark a couple pages and check them once daily, and buy when on sale.

Most modern cases don't have internal drive bays so that kind of rules out getting an internal model unless you're going to continue using old cases forever, which lack other modern features  (like front panel USB 3.0 and SSD mounting).

its not either/or, i.e. fractals offer all modern features (and then some like an integrated fan hub tucked up into the back panel) and are still able to be configured with a 5.25 bay if you wish. It just depends on the case manufacturer and how much flexibility they give you with drives+fans+radiator(if you do that sort of thing)

I have a ton of CDs and I started the massive project of ripping all of them and got sick of it and quit like halfway through.  I need to finish that, then go through my old burned media and see if there is anything on any of it I actually still care about like digital photos and then just get rid of all the discs and ditch the external dvd burner entirely.  Although if I ever get a Valve Index I might want to get a bluray drive that I can rip my 3D movies with if they look better than on PSVR which I have no idea about.  Or if the Index is more comfortable, I definitely get sick of the PSVR before a long movie is over.

About a year ago, I went through all my backups, but I still use it to rip Blu-ray/DVDs to put on my file server. Not very often though. I could get away with not having an internal drive, but I don't really like external drives.

most.

Y'all sound like a bunch of CONSOLE BROS with your talk of physical media and outdated tech. Everything is digital now, and you can either buy the license to stream it or pay for a subscription to stream it. Or get it from the vast dark web.

Bet you boomers are still using flip phones and don't even have fridges that can play Bad Rats.

Still got my retail copies of Black & White 1; and B&W2 + Expansion.

That's not on Steam, GOG, or Origin...unfortunately.

I have a flip phone for work and still buy cds and movies on disc, so yeah makes sense that i'd be the one to ask.

good feedback all. my current case (https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Gaming-Computer-THOR-V2/dp/B0058P5S9A/ref=asc_df_B0058P5S9A/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241907595991&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16059188302273492785&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015370&hvtargid=pla-435245013491&th=1) has room enough for children to live in, but it is getting a bit dated so it'd probably get replaced. sounds like a cheap external for occasional ripping and any old thing that i dig out of storage would be the way to go.

Stole this form steamgifts...

Apparently you can get Little Nightmares (steam key) in EU and SEA from the bandai store.

https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/eu/product/437895/little-nightmares-pc-download

I'm too lazy to try though.

EDIT:

It'll auto-forward you away from the eu site, so gotta proxy it first.

EDIT2:

I lied about being too lazy... worked easy and can get two keys.
Servers slammed now. Spent more time trying to F5 than I probably would have spent playing the game before I gave up.

Site is still being slammed. Couldn't they have given Little Nightmares through Steam directly instead?

EDIT: Got it

No, he's just typical Borderlands NPC (he has a moment or two of annoying) its the little girl you meet halfway through the game and stays with you the rest of the way.

I have a Blu Ray/DVD burner in my machine.

That's funny, I thought her character was annoying also, but I didn't remember having many interactions with her. Underpants guy, ugh... he just SCREAMS in every encounter with him and that just got on my nerves every time.

I have a Blu-Ray burner in my system as well, but as of yet have not burned a single disc.

I guess movie "tie ins" are back in business at Ubisoft. Massive is working on an open world Avatar game too.

I guess any hope for Division 3 or another Expansion are just about expired.
Possibly.

Or maybe Ubi has another one of their studios develop Division 2 expansions/DLC's or Division 3...?

I dunno.... [shrug]

The Division is really the kind of game that should be doing the long-term support model with constant improvements and new content releases on a season-by-season schedule, rather than sequels.

Unfortunately I think it takes a lot to build a player base with that model, much more so than just "release a sequel and measure sales", and probably more than Ubisoft as a business is going to pursue.

I wonder if the open-world Ubisoft Star Wars game will be one planet with cut-and-paste palette-swapped regions, or more of an open-galaxy game with cut-and-paste palette-swapped planets...? In any case, I can't wait to experience all the glitches!

I hear you get to scale buildings and then freefall jump into piles of Bantha dung, so I already preodored.
