Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but free shipping from Nintendo store on $20+ orders... not a bad time to redeem some plat points and maybe pickup a ACNH dock with free amiibo card.

Free Game #5: Kicker, In Ho World:

https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/kickerinho-world-switch/

That’s very lucky, I’ve had major drift on 4 different joy cons, one right out of the packaging and I’ve never put a whale on any of them.
Yeah I honestly don't know how I haven't run into it. I've had the switch since launch and had many different joy con colors along the way. I did upgrade to the V2 and again for the OLED so maybe I have just gotten rid of joy cons at the right time. But my launch pro controller and smash bros pro controller both have zero issues with the dpad.

Wait they sell just the dock??? 🤔

Edit- yep. Looks like I’m buying one now. Thanks!

I don't whale on mine either... I've never gotten drift on any other controller in the last 2 decades. But I've gotten it on 3 left joycons and I'm on my forth.

All of them had been special editions / imported, so I can't even send it in to get repaired. So this last one I bought was a lame-ass blue.

Hopefully these free games end on a high note. I feel the previous company that did this like a year or two ago had slightly better games. I'll still try them out and give impressions since I'm sure that will be the high point of someone's day.

To those talking about never encountered drift on their joycon yes you lucked out. Just like how many people can go without ever having their tonsils, appendix, wisdom teeth removed.

I was playing my 3DS and had another thought about an alternative to the Switch’s lousy form factor. You could theoretically have a clamshell design about the same size as a regular (non-XL) 3DS, with the screen and guts in the removable top portion, and the joycons connecting to each other to form the bottom portion, though each would be situated horizontally rather than vertically, and that would work fairly well in a pocketable form factor. You could recess the buttons, and sacrifice the analog-sticks for analog pads, but given the history of joy-con drift, that hardly seems like much of a sacrifice.

Granted, it might cost slightly more to squeeze the same performance into a ~5 inch screen unit, but I’d certainly have been much happier with a pocketable clamshell than what we got.

I just noticed my left joy con drifting this week, but I still think I’m fortunate it took this long since it’s the neon green/pink splatoon 2 system. So far a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol, wiggling the joystick, and recalibrating has fixed it…..for now.

The next free NGG game is up:

https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/graviter-switch/

This is by far one of my favorite of the free games (next to Creepy Tale and Star Horizon). The rest have all been crappy mobile trash. Let’s hope we get some more decent ones during this giveaway.

Maybe there’ll be a Christmas Miracle and we’ll get some of their action platformers (Okinawa Rush, Tanuki Justice, Golden Force and Wallachia: Reign of Dracula).

I hope so. Creep Tale was poop too IMHO, but I'm looking forward to Star Horizon and this one.

That’s my hope too, but Okinawa rush just came out. Most likely it will be tanuki justice since it’s been out for a year or two.

Anyone ever use toygameshop.com ? Wondering if it's legit because I stumbled upon it and they have a lot of switch accessories.

I still don’t understand the appeal of Monster Rancher games without using your own physical CDs.
I'm with you. They were mediocre games even when they came out just with a cool gimmick. Without the gimmick all this shows me is nostalgia is causing people to buy anything from their childhood.

Who ever played all of Monster Rancher? It was mostly "bring over your CDs" and then you see what monster you get, and then no one touched it.

I didn't play it all but after getting good monster spawn from CDs, I raised the monster to fight in tournaments. I didn't get to the end where you compete with the strongest though.

How come these free games don't show as free games for me?

How does it work now without the CDs?

They should have included an online option so you can battle Online with other players' monsters.
They’ve got some kind of database that lets you just pick any CD listed. Seems like a really boring solution, especially since I’m sure obscure stuff like video game soundtracks aren’t included.

I actually played quite a bit of the GBA Monster Rancher. I thought it was alright albeit very repetitive at times. Also when raising you can only win a certain amount of tournaments maybe and then your guy dies. I would buy those on a heavy sale, but not anywhere close to full price.

Anyone in MA, RI or CT, Big Y has the $100 Nintendo eshop cards discounted to $80 until 12/15.  I assume you need their free shopper card to get the discount.  Not sure if you can buy more than one-the flyer doesn’t say.

How does it work now without the CDs?

They should have included an online option so you can battle Online with other players' monsters.
It has a database of CDs to choose from and it does have online options to battle other players' monsters:

[The DX features]
・All save slots available from the beginning!
・Freeze up to 20 monsters!
・Exclusive monsters from different countries added to the game! (“Monster Rancher 2”)
・Added the "Fast Forward" mode that allows you to skip through some scenes and "Training Records" to keep the record of your previous actions!

[“Monster Rancher” and “Monster Rancher 2” Features]
● Raise, train, and battle just like in the original!
You can acquire, train, and battle with all kinds of monsters just like in the original “Monster Rancher” games.
On the Nintendo Switch™, you can train monsters anytime, anywhere, and also take advantage of the online features of the game.

● Compete against monsters trained by other players
Download monsters raised by breeders all over the world and play against them.
You can even share one of your Joy-Con with another player to play against each other.

● Evolving from the original series
Based on the feedback from the series fans, some of the most requested improvements have been incorporated into the game,
making it more comfortable to play while maintaining the fun of the original.

● The New Monster Generating System!
One of the most unique features of the original game, which allowed players to acquire monsters by importing CDs,
has been replaced with a new music database that can be used to generate monsters by searching CD titles!
This is your chance to raise the rare monsters that you couldn’t acquire before!

Wow that's random. Maybe they will port p4g finally. As I never got why they only ported it to PC

Sony's restrictions, i'd say. Ultimax was multiplatform from the start though so makes sense.

Wondering if anyone has the answer, I transferred my stuff to the new oled switch but some games I purchased on the jp account are no longer playable. What’s the solution to this?

The first thing I would check is to log in to each account through eshop on the new console. Under settings confirm the console is registered as primary for each account.

I thought you had to buy all the previous days to catch up?
I suspect that the current free game is made free after checking for ownership of yesterday's free game, so if you buy yesterday's free game today then today's game goes free. It doesn't hurt that it seems that these games are on sale after they are no longer free.
