• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I knew this was going to be my most played game on Xbox. Overall though, it's definitely Tears of the Kingdom with over 415 hours.

30 feels more reasonable than in this game than 10. 1 hour to make a character, maybe an hour on the Nautiloid, and then what, level 3? It's just not very far into the game and probably only the first few companions. I'm not saying 10 is too short to know its not for you, rather it's not really enough to truly judge the game. Most of the people I've seen bounce off the game play for much less than that. Like 1-2 hours after character creation.

I know the game is technically a CRPG, but the overall presentation of the combat and story of the game is much close to WRPGs due to the AAA budget, especially when played with a controller rather than the isometric point and click style. Fully voice acted, actual cutscenes, highly detailed environments that you can actually see. In this regard, it's so far ahead of anything in the genre besides DOS2 that it's hard to compare. When talking about this game I'm much more likely to compare it to Dragon Age Origins than something like Pillars of Eternity.

After 5 more hours last night, my opinion hasn't changed and won't. As expected, combat is finally kicking off at level 5 when getting things like extra attack plus misty step. I still hate the pacing of needing to rest at camp so often just to be prepared for major battles. We cleared out that early town of enemies which also felt satisfying since combat took us longer. Made some friends, made some enemies. Luckily, said enemies now litter their own tomb. Still can't say I'm enjoying the story much since it's pretty one-dimensional and I think I already understand where it's all going. Decisions feel pretty easy to understand what the consequences will be and there seems to be quite a bit of workarounds for anything we need to do.

I do find it especially funny that in order to not break my oath as a paladin, I essentially butt out of any complicated decisions and have another member do it. In fact, most dialogue acts as if nobody else is even there except for a few likes and dislikes popping up (which who cares TBH). I seem to recall more interaction in Divinity II with whomever was in the party and how their actions could get the lot of us in trouble. I'm not actually sure what happened here with this game, but my only guess is because they have so many options and branches that it would be an impossible task trying to tackle individual responses to every single scenario. Either way, feels like a step backwards TBH.

Regardless, I know now the combat will only get better so I'm in it for the meta of a final build. I'd give the game a solid 7/10 at this point because the combat is the glue for me, but trudging through so much bloat can really be a chore at times.

So Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and of War are both leaving PS Premium on the 19th. I never played either so wanted to make sure I played both of them. I beat Mordor last night and started to play War right now when I realized that I just did a weekly quest for this game recently and sure enough, it's on Game Pass lol. I don't feel the need to rush to play it now. Let this be a PSA to all here. If you have multiple subs, always check the games that are leaving to see if you do indeed need to play it before it goes or if it might be available to you elsewhere so you can take your time. I can now try to 100% Mordor.

So just to prove I don't know when to quit, here is my dell.com digital game order history:

• First order - nothing went wrong and I got the game in a few days. I was surprised.
• Second order - the first time I played this order, it sat there in limbo for a few days. I had support cancel the order and I had the funds back immediately and the second time I placed the order it went through without a hitch.
• Third order - the first attempt sat there for days, so I had support cancel the order. And now it's been four days and the funds haven't come back into my account yet. I've reached out to them via chats and phone calls (to the myriad phone numbers they have) and they've "sent" me two emails (neither of which made it to me) and so far no luck.

I'm wondering if this is a loop and my next order, if I survive this order, will be just fine again. I kinda wish I would find something physical on their site that I want...

An update - I called one of the myriad phone numbers they have and after a quick conversation and a few hours of waiting, they've refunded my points back to my account, but with a new expiration date so there's no rush to use them. Will I learn my lesson and not try to order a digital code? PROBABLY NOT!

Seems a lot like mobile gaming ads but I strongly suspect it will mean if you have that tier when you launch a game it will play the ads first. And if the trend is similar to streamers, expect the ad tier to cost the current cost and to have to pay even more to stay on what will become the "premium" tier without ads. We really are in the darkest timeline.

Yep I'm a sports gamer!

I was overwhelmed with this years game. I still don't understand how to upgrade all the captains and some other new additions. I didn't like some of the new stuff they added. There is no way I will be finishing all of the conquest maps and programs. Just way too much content. Still trying to do all the Angels stuff though but I doubt I will be able to collect all the cards seeing how expensive Trout's rookie and the new chili davis cards are.

The different iterations are having out of sync sales. Looking a little deeper, the XB1 version which I linked tonight went on sale last week. I didn't filter it out from tonight's Other section because it has an end date of next Tuesday morning. I had started the full scan list with everything discounted, then excluded things from my initial post and then stuff with an end date tomorrow morning (i.e., a few hours from now), Thursday afternoon (the start of the year end sale) and Friday morning (the end of the Black Friday DLC sale, which did include some games). The handful of stuff left went into the full scan post.

The Series version of The Sinking City went on sale with the Black Friday DLC sale on Nov 30 and is scheduled to end Friday morning. Same with the XB1 version's Necronomicon Edition ($8.99, 85% off). The Series version's Deluxe Edition is set to be part of the year end sale on Thursday afternoon. So probably shouldn't bite on the base version until you see what the discount for the deluxe will be, since there will be an overlap.

So I've not played BG3 at all and I think I've seen bits of gameplay here and there. If I'm not mistaken, BG3 combat is basically the Divinity Original Sin games with a coat of DND. Is that a good way to describe it to someone?

Some stuff on the store doesn't have a price, which means I can't directly get a date for it. But I check if the item is related to a bundle, and if the bundle has a price (and date), I use that date, but mark that the item can't be purchased. As an example, the version of Lego Skywalker Saga that's available to Game Pass is the base game and can't be purchased. The base version that can be bought is a bundle containing the Game Pass version plus an Obi-Wan Kenobi character DLC (that also can't be bought separately). I see the GP version is using the date for the year end sale, meaning it's using the Deluxe or Galactic version for the date, because the base purchase version has a date of Saturday morning. My script just uses the first date it finds from a bundle.

Since I don't know if something that's "not available for purchase" could become available, I list them in my countdown posts on the chance they do. I then (try to remember to) filter out anything not available when making the actual sale posts.

Was able to do 6 searches in the past couple minutes, so not hit here.

Also checked the Xbox app and it had the earn an achievement in GP quest checked off. Finished the first week of the month with 12 dailies completed, 7 play GP and 5 earn achievement in GP. Earned at least 1 achievement in Game Pass on Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon.

That is something different. There is this puzzle thing up top on the menu that gives you 15 points a day when you search 3 times. You do that for a week and you get 100 more points and a puzzle piece I think. After you get enough puzzle pieces you get 1000 points.

If the combat is more like Dragon Age Origins or Kotor, I’d love to give BG3 a shot. I’ve tried and have never been able to get into games like Pillars or Divinity as much as I’ve wanted to. The combat mechanics are just not for me.

I would compare BG3 combat to Xcom or other modern tactics games, if only because of the good controller support. A lot of the recent CRPG console ports are late conversions on low budgets, and feel jank as a result.
