Fanatical Thread

Bundlefest is here again this week. Here is the usual new Killer Bundle, which IMHO is better than usual.

Killer Bundle: Very Positive Edition

$14.99

AETHERIS (New to bundle)
Airborne Kingdom
Creepy Tale 3: Ingrid Penance (New to bundle)
Devilated (New to bundle)
Dread Templar
Forgive me Father
The Legend of Tianding
Slaycation Paradise (New to bundle)
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga
Tallowmere
Telepath Tactics Liberated (New to bundle)
Trover Saves the Universe
Valfaris: Mecha Therion (New to bundle)
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire (New to bundle)
Warman (New to bundle)

Honestly a better than average Killer Bundle. The price is higher, but I believe the value is here especially since I've wanted Telepath Tactics anything for a while. I'm not sure everything here is amazing, but there is a lot of better value games here.
Yeah, initially I was disappointed because I own half of the bundle and the price is a bit high, but it's been easy to split so far and there are a few games that look halfway decent that I'd actually try playing. Honestly I think Fanatical is getting more competitive with Humble lately, especially with the increase of price in Humble bundles. Humble's prices keep getting higher and are getting close to the same as Fanatical now (outside of Choice and AAA bundles).

This is another case of I wish it was choose my own games bundle as there are games I'm super interested here but I already have some of these.

If anyone buys this and want to split some games I'm interested in Valfaris: Mecha Therion and Dread Templar.
I'm hopeful these show up later in other bundle offerings.

Thanks to Spoderman I have received Dread Templar. Still interested in Valfaris: Mecha Therion is anyone wants to send it my way for a few $.

Many new to bundle games in a slightly more expensive bundle. The only one I have experience with is Three Minutes To Eight, of which I played the demo and couldn't get anywhere past a time loop. It's a time sensitive adventure where stuff happens at specific times, and you have to figure out things. It was very, very frustrating.

I've heard good things about Stop Dead from multiple people, but nothing about the others. Still trying to figure out which ones are worth buying. Insurmountable was free on epic so many of us probably already have the epic version

Melty Blood isn't worth buying either if you ever value playing online. There's a community edition which has better netcode so everyone moved to it. I grabbed everything I didn't own, besides MB.. and Anime vs Evil: Apocalypse which looks like trash

Anyone ever try Ganryu 2 or Andro Dunos 2? I’ve played the originals and didn’t feel particularly impressed, but it’s been a long ass time between those and these.

While I’m asking, thoughts on 9 Years of Shadows or Soulstice? They both look nice in the trailers, but reviews seem a bit mixed.

New bundle is too expensive, but I can't really complain since the first 3 days were full of decent bundles. Might be the most consistent bundlefest that Fanatical has ever had

I tried out both Andro Dunos 2 and Ganyru 2 for around 10 minutes each, which them being arcade like titles this is enough for a decent impression. I liked Andro Dunos 2 although the full screen option crashed the game. The fix for this is to use Magpie and let it do full screen for you. It isn't a wide screen game at all. It felt like a decent arcade shmup with good controls with the Series X controller, a decent power up system, pretty hard difficulty especially for bosses, but I'm just not very good at shmups. If you like shmups this one seems very decent for the price. Probably about a 6.5/10 in my book which is almost a good game. It likely is more 7/10, but I stink at these games.

Ganryu 2 is also an arcade game but this one is action samurai game thing. It controls a little floatier than I like for jumps and dashes and your dash is very important as it can also stun enemies and is your main way to deflect projectiles and get in to attack. I stunk at this and struggled through one level. This one is built for wide screen monitors and had good graphics and sounds. It just felt a little just okay, but isn't that bad either. This one is also a 6.5/10. This is much more modern, but just doesn't play as well. If I got used to the controls, and I may trying it once now and then, it may also become a 7/10. Not amazing games overall, but decent arcade action from both.

Anyone tried Light Fairytale Double Pack?
I tried episode 1 and it's very much FF7 at home. You are in the slums and part of the slums and there is military and stuff. The battle system is okay turn based affair and the graphics are pretty nice IMHO. The music is really generic and probably one of the worst things about this. You can get the FF7 Remake at home with this game ;). It also doesn't help this one is in chapters and is also not the full story. This is very passable standard RPG fair. Nothing I'd rave about, but something fun to pass the time as well. The story was a bit generic, but I only played for 25 minutes. I didn't like how you had to wander around exploring for nothing in the beginning. It could get better. 6/10

Inkulinati was in early access before yesterday. I think River City Girls 2 and MechWarrior 5 have the best value out of these. Tempted to get both but I'll think about it

I am somewhat interested in the Elder Scrolls Online bundle from the Prestige bundle, but nothing else really looks too enticing. If anyone is thinking of purchasing and wants another game to drive prices down a little let me know! Cheers Pirate331!

Chorus, Wolf II, Doom Eternal, and The Chant look like the best out of that club.

Played both Chorus and Wolf II on Game Pass, long ago; and already own Doom Eternal (and its DLC's) [Steam] and Wolf II: Deluxe (GOG). All of those rock, TBH.

Chorus is severely underrated and felt like a modern Freelancer of sorts to me. Wouldn't mind putting it on either Steam or GOG - but, eh, nothing else really sticking out here to me.

Anyone played The Chant yet?

Still looks like a "Skip" for me.

Chrous is really the only one I'd *want* want from the list. My Little Universe looks like a timewaster that I'd enjoy for a bit...but not enough to find a third title and spend the money, to be honest.

My Little Universe just got humble bundled the day before they released the fanatical bundle. Probably a better option to go with Humble if anyone wants that game specifically

To go back to my question from a few days back, I installed and played Ganryu II a little tonight. It’s an okay 4th-gen style action platformer, except for the fact that it’s hard crashed my system twice in twenty minutes.

I had no crashes in my hour or so of gameplay I did for my impressions. It wasn't a great game, but wasn't unstable either. Is this the only game that has been crashing like that lately?

I'd be worried about hardware failure at that point, unless it's a driver issue or something

I went on to try something else for an hour afterwards, browsed the internet for another hour afterwards, and also had no problems while installing the games I bought or playing others in the hour leading up to messing with Ganryu II. The first crash was almost immediately after launching the game, and while I was able to launch the game twice after that without issue (had to close it to reconnect my gamepad) and play for twenty minutes, I got another crash almost immediately after closing the game the second time.

I'd be worried about hardware failure at that point, unless it's a driver issue or something

I’ll keep an eye out, but it seems suspicious that it happened both times in response to either opening or closing the game, and I haven’t noticed any other problems. Not just last night, but at all.

Maybe it might be a good idea to verify the integrity of the game files. I just started it, played the first level (I suck!) and closed it and it seemed OK.

BTW Ganryu 2 joined my list of retired/never playing again games in my Steam list after about 20 more minutes of playing it yesterday! That stupid minecart part pissed me off so much with it's janky as heck jumping controls I ended up losing lives left and right. Ganryu 2 isn't Donkey Kong Country and should never try to be. The Donkey Kong Country mine cart levels were not faves of mine either. It just wasn't that fun even in the non mine cart parts. Just glad I got it cheaply bundled cause I would have refunded it on Steam. 5/10

Lots of okay stuff. I gave impressions of Trinity Fusion and found it fine and liked the original Jets n Guns other than the difficulty.

I want Trinity Fusion and Scars Above. At a loss to pick a third game though.

Same thing with the prestige bundle...really wanted Deadlink but nothing else sticks out.

Build Your Own Expeditions Bundle

3 For $4.99, 5 For $7.99, 7 For $9.99

BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE
Broken Pieces
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Cathedral
Crime O'Clock
Eldest Souls
Guardians of Holme
Hellpoint
One True Hero
Pilfer: Story of Light
Red Line
Röki
SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption
SONG OF HORROR COMPLETE EDITION
Soundfall
STASIS & BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION Double Pack
Summer in Mara
Teslagrad Remastered
They Always Run
Undungeon

I've been waiting for Crime O'Clock to be bundled, as the demo was pretty neat. I'll make a build a bundle out of some of these especially since there are some platformers I don't own, and I love platformers.

There is also a Cyberpunk Stories Build Your Own Bundle $15 for 25 ebooks. I don't know of the quality, but I'm going to get these for my Kindle.

I got Call of Jaurez: Gunslinger, BPM and Pilfer. I’ve been wanting to try Gunslinger after seeing it in a youtube video about criminally underrated games. Should be fun on steam deck. The other 2 I had never heard of before now but an epic rock FPS/rhythm game and retro-inspired 3D platformer are right up my alley. Pretty good bundle for 5 bucks!

I was thinking about getting Cathedral, Pilfer: Story of Light and Soundfall.
Edit: So I forgot I had a $1 off voucher on my account from a previous purchase so I decided to pick up these three for $4.

There were a couple of times I was going to buy Soundfall on PS5 but I passed so this is a great way to try it for cheap.

I highly recommend They Always Run. It was a great game about 6-10 hours to complete.
BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE is also really fun but challenging.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a good one and so is Teslagrad.

So I built the bundle ( Build Your Own Expeditions Bundle ) and went for the bonus mystery PC games

Was not disappointed in the mystery bonus:

Army of Ruin (I kept)
State of Mind B89A4-VIG7Q-BHVGV
(unsupported by Steam Deck)
Andro Dunos 2 B89A4-VIG7Q-BHVGV (not my style)
Bots Are Stupid W5PB8-6E5IN-AQN0G (ironically, I am not smart enough or patient enough)

Enjoy!
