Fanatical Thread

Time to rev up some Garfield Kart before indulging in a lasagna party.

Bought Shadow Madness despite the above warnings, and it just might be the worst RPG I've played (besides Quest 64). It works fine in Duckstation, no crashes so far. I just can't find any redeeming features. The story, characters, and dialogue are bland, the battle system is a bore, the world map is the worst I've seen, and I guess there are a lot of music tracks, but nothing that comes close to the music of the PS1 or SNES greats. I was thinking about sticking with it at least until disc 2, but the dungeon design is horrible, and the battles are growing tiresome. If I ever did read about it in EGM, must have quickly forgotten it.
Wow, you admit to playing Quest 64! oof

Sorry I didn't post this yesterday as Garden Story is currently sold out. Games are sometimes restocked, so keep an eye on it if you want that game. This has rebundles, but some quality ones too. I'm missing about 3, so will likely go for that.

There's a bunch of good looking games included, I'd say it's the best bundle they've done in a while and the star of the bundlefest. Even better if you bought the recent jingle jam bundle on tiltify and have a 10-15% off coupon. All games are new to bundles, hence the "premiere" in the title.

Some of these games are very recent too, released within the past few months.

Any suggestions? I skimmed the titles and am unfamiliar with all of them.

Frogun if you like platformers

Juicy Realm if you're into games like binding of Isaac/enter the gungeon

ICEY is a popular game with 22k+ reviews that's been out since 2016 and somehow remained unbundled for this long

Scathe is a decent looking FPS similar to doom, ignore most of the negative reviews. It has mixed reviews because it requires an epic account to play, which has no bearing on how good the game is.

Andro Dunos II is supposed to be really good among the SHMUP crowd

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy and Hauma - A Detective Noir Story are both fairly new releases and look decent. Hauma being a visual novel if that's your thing, it just came out in September.

I've heard Magenta Horizon is a hidden gem.

I could go on but those are the games that stood out the most to me.

For what it’s worth, Half Genie Hero is not even a decent game. Easily the worst game in the franchise, and that’s including the GBC title. Just… no imagination at all went into the making of that game, whether it’s in the mechanics, level design, or writing.

More expensive rebundles along with I believe a newly bundled game or 2. Good for those who skip Humble Choice bundles.

If that was three for $14 I would be more inclined to make a purchase.

I highly recommend Sprawl. I just picked that up recently for $7.50 during the black Friday sale and it is an excellent shooter. Feels like 1st person Max Payne or Fear with the slow motion mechanic with some good platforming and wall running but in a cyberpunk style universe. Runs great on Steam Deck.

If I didn't buy that during Black Friday sale I would have chose that and Gordian Quest.

I went with Time on Frog Island, Marsupilami and Shantae.
Can recommend West of Dead, Turnip Boy, Sparklite, Dreamscaper, Morbid and Sword of Necromancer.
Great $3 bundle.

Yeah I think the byo Triple Pack is a good use for $1 credits.

When I was looking into the options, I saw that there's a free prologue game on steam for Frog Island. I tried it on steam deck last night and it didn't hold my attention for long.

That's a good bundle, but another case of "I got what I need from it" strikes again. I suppose that's not a bad problem to have.

I think I'm in for Anomalous, Dusk, and Amid Evil. Those look to me to be easily the best of what I don't already have, and AE was on the wishlist. Lots of nice games there.

Those almost seem worth pirating out of principle.
Right? Why would I buy these now, even something deck verified, knowing they might push the enigma DRM patch out at any time that completely breaks the game.

The complete stupidity of adding this dumbass DRM into older games is astounding, at this point you’re not protecting sales from piracy, you’re just signaling you can’t be trusted. This is almost like a consumer-level version of that Unity-install kerfuffle from a few months ago. You’ve destroyed our trust in your product, you can’t just wave a magic wand and make us forget about this. As far as I can tell they haven’t said a thing about it yet since “we’re investigating” and I’m also a little pissed at Steam for leaving the verified status on the game.

I'm not even that far on the anti-DRM side, but a forced Steam update adding DRM to a game you've already bought is ridiculous. I think with GoG and Epic you can turn off auto-updates.

I mean, Steam or otherwise, adding DRM to an already launched game is just silly. If it was multi-player or something like live service that’s one thing but there’s already pirated versions of these games out there in the wild. Ya cant unring that bell no matter how much DRM you put into a game, the pirated versions are already readily available.

Want Dust and Neon and some of these look interesting. I'll see if I get this one.

There must have been a few of those in Humble Choice or some other Fanatical bundle since I owned a few. I did look through them all and found they all generally look pretty good but seem to fall more in the category of "good" and not "great" games. Not the headliners of bundles, but solid middle additions. As such they're probably a bit pricey for me. But if you're a big fan of roguelites and pseudo-metroidvanias, there may be a few in here you've been meaning to give a try.

Ziggurat 2 is sold out now. I'll let people know if it gets more keys. That game is well worth it IMHO. I bought it on sale as I was a pretty big fan of Ziggurat. Cookie Cutter also on low stock already (that one looks weird...I'll try it soon!).

Ziggurat 2 is back in stock for that bundle.

There is also a new Build Your Own Leap Year Bundle

1 or $1.00, 5 For $2.99, 10 For $4.99

Towaga: Among Shadows

Unity of Command Trilogy Bundle
Valfaris
Velocity Noodle

A few new things including an already sold out game. I will probably try to get missing stuff from my collection, and there is good stuff like the Monster Slayers and Deep Sky Derelicts complete packs.

Final picked up a few games from the new Platinum bundle and I got a free Lunar Red Envelope for a game I don't want.

Here is a code for Hero of the Kingdom: The Lost Tales 2.
MKFPG-CTG0G-LQR?D ?=1x3

I wanted to pick up the leap year bundle but 3 things are sold out, with I wanting 2 of them. They didn't get enough keys for this bundle with one game being sold out hours after launch. I'll let people know if some of these keys come back in stock, but this has been a very poorly run bundle.

This has been how Fanatical bundles are for a while. It's why I try to buy a bundle ASAP if I'm interested in it cuz I know there's the possibility of shit selling out. I know it sucks but I suggest doing the same for anyone interested in their bundles. Refunds are super easy if you end up regretting your purchase, as long as you don't reveal any keys within 14 days. There's a link you can go to that will nearly instantly give you a refund without needing to contact support or anything.

Bundlefest is here again this week. Here is the usual new Killer Bundle, which IMHO is better than usual.

Killer Bundle: Very Positive Edition

$14.99

AETHERIS (New to bundle)
Airborne Kingdom
Creepy Tale 3: Ingrid Penance (New to bundle)
Devilated (New to bundle)
Dread Templar
Forgive me Father
The Legend of Tianding
Slaycation Paradise (New to bundle)
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga
Tallowmere
Telepath Tactics Liberated (New to bundle)
Trover Saves the Universe
Valfaris: Mecha Therion (New to bundle)
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire (New to bundle)
Warman (New to bundle)

Honestly a better than average Killer Bundle. The price is higher, but I believe the value is here especially since I've wanted Telepath Tactics anything for a while. I'm not sure everything here is amazing, but there is a lot of better value games here.
