Are you sure? My kid plays this with my wife a lot... i think you can be crosstown from each other. There is a 'warp to other player' button. Maybe it's different in missions but i don't remember. They have a blast playing coop

Valthirian arch is really hard to judge for someone else. You don't have a party, you have a guild. You have a couple heros, do missions, earn money to improve your school. You can then hire more heroes, go on missions, find loot, etc. Eventually heroes start leveling, class specialization...
