HL2 is pretty rough. It's generally playable but there are some areas where the framerate drops to a slide show.

I played the PS3 GOTY version and all the DLC, and didn't have any major problems. Sure,the framerate drops at times and you get a hard freeze every so often, but it's not a total mess like New Vegas.

I'm playing it now... fun game. It's a little janky and the characters suck, but the combat is fun and I like the setting. Well worth $19.99.
