That's only true of the SFX and composite shots. Strictly live-action footage is native widescreen as the whole series was done on film. This remains true throughout the entirety of the series. Live-action stuff looks good and the CG all looks crap because it's cropped and zoomed.
Strange that we have to wait until the week after release to get the good price on Shutter Island. I guess they're taking advantage of their history of conditioning customers to purchase on release week to take advantage of what's usually better pricing.
