Pharmacists still make compounds. At my pharmacy, the pharmacists and/or compounding technicians make about 5 compounds daily. A couple of months ago, during flu season, there was a major shortage of liquid Tamiflu. Most pharmacies had to compound the medication using the capsules.

Truth. They probably won't even hire someone new. They'll just shift the work around to the remaining employees so that they'll end up doing more and working harder for the same pay.

My first job out of college was working in a lab for a research company. Part-time, low pay, and no benefits. I spent most of my hours taking vital signs, collecting blood and urine samples (and the occasional poop sample :( ), and packaging them to be shipped out.

Yeah I got a new free trial offer last month after having done one before a couple of years ago. I wasn't charged for anything for this trial. Though after using it extensively in the past month, I was sold and paid for the renewal after my trial ended.

My post wasn't meant to imply that Pharmacists are undeserving of their salaries. They go through a ton of schooling and are expected to know and offer expert advice on pretty much anything drug related. They're essential to the healthcare community. I hope I get there in a couple of years...

I currently work as a Pharmacy Technician for a major pharmacy chain. The work is fast paced, can be stressful at times, and doesn't pay very well. I do all the dirty work and make peanuts while the Pharmacist in charge makes a nice 6 figure salary. I can't wait to get my ass into Pharmacy...
